Adapting the release characteristics of aluminum phosphide from membrane-coated rice tablets by using activated carbon nanoparticles

        S. Solhi,E. Jashni,S.M. Hosseini,B. Van der Bruggen,H. Solhi,A.R. Khodabakhshi 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.58 No.-

Membrane-coated tables were prepared to control the release rate of aluminum phosphide from rice tablets when this tablet comes into contact with water in the stomach. Mixed matrix polyvinyl chloride-co-activated carbon nanoparticles (ACNPs) membranes was used as a thin film to coat the rice tablets. The effect of ACNPs as additive in membrane matrix on release behavior of aluminum phosphide was evaluated. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and X-ray diffraction patterns showed that nanoparticles are uniformly distributed in the prepared coatings. The membrane water contact angle was enhanced from 55° to 80° in the presence of ACNPs. The tear resistance of the prepared membranes was also improved from 4.34 to 5.01 (grf/mic) by using ACNPs. The membrane-coated tablets showed a controlled aluminum phosphide release rate compared to pristine rice tablet without cover. The fastest aluminum phosphide release rate for all samples is related to the first five days. In addition, the half-time and life-time of membrane-coated tablets were declined by an increase of the ACNPs ratio up to 15 wt%. Swelling of the fabricated cover in aqueous environment led to a decrease of the aluminum phosphide release rate.

Modified fluorapatite as highly efficient catalyst for the synthesis of chalcones via Claisen–Schmidt condensation reaction

        Ilham Jioui,Karim Daˆnoun,Abderrahim Solhy,Mustapha Jouiad,Mohamed Zahouily,Bilal Essaid,Christophe Len,Aziz Fihri 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.39 No.-

In the present study, we investigated the synthesis of fluorapatite using a pseudo sol–gel processand the chemical modification of this new catalyst support via impregnation of sodium nitratefollowed by calcination at 550 8C in order to enhance its catalytic performance. This approach wasused to obtain a bi-functional catalyst for Claisen–Schmidt condensation. Indeed, this heterogeneouscatalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity and high selectivity for the synthesis of chalconesfrom direct aromatic aldehydes with substituted ketones at room temperature. The operationalsimplicity, excellent yields of the products and the recyclability of the catalyst are the mainadvantages of this method.

      • Study of Relationship Between Illness Perception and Delay in Seeking Help for Breast Cancer Patients Based on Leventhal's Self-Regulation Model

Attari, Seyedeh Maryam,Ozgoli, Giti,Solhi, Mahnaz,Majd, Hamid Alavi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.no.sup3

One of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in breast cancer patients is delay in seeking help. Leventhal's self-regulation model provides an appropriate framework to assess delay in seeking help. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between "illness perception" and "help seeking delay" in breast cancer patients based on Leventhal's self-regulation model. In this correlational descriptive study with convenience sampling conducted in 2013, participants were 120 women with breast cancer who were diagnosed in the last year and referred to chemotherapy and radiotherapy centers in Rasht, Iran. Data collection scales included demographic data, Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ-R)and a researcher made questionnaire to measure the delay in seeking help. Pre-hospital delay (help seeking delay) was evaluated in 3 phases (assessment, disease, behavior). The data were analyzed using SPSS-19. The mean (SD) age calculated for the patients was $47.3{\pm}10.2$. Some 43% of the patients had a high school or higher education level and 82% were married. The "pre-hospital delay" was reported ${\geq}3months$. Logistic regression analysis showed that none of the illness perception components were correlated with appraisal and behavioral delay phases. In the illness delay phase, "time line" (p-value =0.04) and "risk factors"(p-value=0.03) had significant effects on reducing and "psychological attributions" had significant effects on increasing the delay (p-value =0.01). "Illness coherence" was correlated with decreased pre-hospital patient delay (p-value<0.01). Women's perceptions of breast cancer influences delay in seeking help. In addition to verifying the validity of Leventhal's self-regulation model in explaining delay in seeking help, the results signify the importance of the "illness delay phase" (decision to seek help) and educational interventions-counseling for women in the community.

Polyether sulfone-graphite nanocomposite for nanofiltration membrane with enhanced separation, antifouling and antibacterial properties

Sayed Mohsen Hosseini,Sima Mohammadianfar,Samaneh Koudzari Farahani,Sadra Solhi 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.1

Mixed matrix polyether sulfone based-graphite nanoparticle nanofiltration membranes were prepared by phase inversion technique. SEM, SOM, 3D surface analysis, water content, water contact angle, tensile strength, salt rejection, water flux, porosity, antifouling measurements as well as antibacterial activity were used in membrane characterization. SOM images showed graphite nanoparticle distribution in the structure of membranes relatively. The cross section SEM showed that incorporation of graphite nanoparticles into the casting solution had significant effect on the appearance structural properties of the membrane. The water flux of modified membranes was higher than the amount for unmodified membrane obviously. Salt rejection also increased from 82% for unmodified membrane to 91.79% for the membrane containing 0.5 wt% graphite nanoparticles. The water content and porosity increased at 0.05 wt% and 0.5 wt% concentration of graphite nanoparticle, and showed decreasing manner at 0.1 wt% and 1 wt% additives ratios. Utilizing 0.05 wt% G-nanoparticles into the polymeric solution made a membrane with smoother and hydrophilic surface that tended to improved anti-fouling properties. The 0.05 wt% G-nanoparticles/PES membrane showed more suitable behavior than other membranes. Moreover, blended membranes showed antibacterial activity against E-coli.
