      • Le concept de Loyaute en traduction: d`un principe moral vers une strategie traductionnelle

        The article explores the concept of loyalty in translation. My purpose is to try to develop the general characteristics of a translation strategy which, being inspired by the moral principle of loyalty, could take into account both the pragmatic-functional parameters and the enunciative circumstances that govern the translational act. Loyalty, a key-concept for the translational behaviour, occupies an important place in translation studies as it is directly related to the ethics of translation. Nevertheless, most of the studies consider loyalty just as a moral principle and they do not propose some concrete guidelines for the translators. The first part reviews the concept of loyalty in translation studies; the second part shows the deadlocks and the prospects of the concept and in the third part it is shown how the proposed strategy could applied in the translation of children literature.

      • Diagrid Structural System for High-Rise Buildings: Applications of a Simple Stiffness-based Optimized Design

        The ingenuity of structural engineers in the field of tall and super-tall buildings has led to some of the most remarkable inventions. During this evolution of structural engineering concepts in the last 100 years, the technical challenges that engineers encountered were extraordinary and the advances were unprecedented. However, as the accomplishments of structural engineers are progressing, the desire for taller and safer structures is also increasing. The diagrid structural system is part of this evolving process as it develops a new paradigm for tall building design combining engineering efficiency and new architectural expression. The first appearances of this type of tall buildings have already been constructed and the interest of both engineering and architectural communities is growing mainly due to the many advantages compared to other structural systems. This paper presents a simple approach on optimizing member sizes for the diagonals of steel diagrid tall buildings. The optimizing method is based on minimizing the volume of the diagonal elements of a diagrid structure. The constraints are coming from the stiffness-based design, limiting the tip deflection of the building to widely accepted regulative limits. In addition, the current paper attempts to open the discussion on the important topic of optimization and robustness for tall buildings and also studies the future of the diagrid structural system.

        ON THE COMPUTATION OF THE NON-PERIODIC AUTOCORRELATION FUNCTION OF TWO TERNARY SEQUENCES AND ITS RELATED COMPLEXITY ANALYSIS

        We establish a new formalism of the non-periodic autocorrelation function (NPAF) of two sequences, which is suitable for the computation of the NPAF of any two sequences. It is shown, that this encoding of NPAF is efficient for sequences of small weight. In particular, the check for two sequences of length n having weight w to have zero NPAF can be decided in $O(n+w^2{\log}w)$. For n > w^2{\log}w$, the complexity is O(n) thus we cannot expect asymptotically faster algorithms.

      • THE FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE PERSUASIVENESS OF VIRTUAL INFLUENCERS

        Virtual influencer marketing is an emerging research area due to the increasing popularity of virtual influencers across the social media landscape. However, existing literature falls short when it comes to explaining how consumers perceive the attributes of virtual influencers and what their roles are in determining the cognitive acceptance of the messages they communicate. To address the research gaps, this study pursued the objective of exploring the cognitive processes of individuals being exposed to the information elicited by virtual influencers. We adopted Social Influence Theory, which postulates that there are three processes of influence acceptance, namely compliance, internalisation and identification, each of which is conditioned by a set of different factors. To address the research objective, this study was carried out in two stages. In the first exploratory stage, we drew on relevant research to identify the attributes of virtual influencers, which could predict the three influence acceptance processes. To ensure the accuracy of the results, three approaches to the validation and filtering of attributes were used, i.e.: a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of 126 papers discussing the characteristics of influencers and a survey-based ranking of the importance of the generated attributes. As a result, we found that the top 8 statistically significant factors are warmth, relatedness, interactivity, competence, empathy, uniqueness, fairness and credibility. In the second stage, based on a sample of 601 respondents, we analysed the associations of the identified attributes with cognitive processes using a fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). The analysis showed different configurations of the core and peripheral predictors of compliance, identification and internalisation. For a high level of compliance, a high level of interactivity is a core condition; for a high level of identification, empathy, competence, fairness, interactivity, and credibility act as core predictors. A high level of internalisation is associated with two core predictors, namely interactivity and relatedness. The findings of the study contribute to the extant literature on virtual influencers by providing empirical evidence about the cognitive acceptance of influence elicited by virtual influencers and the characteristics of non-human opinion leaders that shape consumers’ attitudes and behaviour. The findings offer practical insights into how to enhance the persuasiveness of virtual influencers’ messages.

        Investigation of stiffening scheme effectiveness towards buckling stability enhancement in tubular steel wind turbine towers

        Current climate conditions along with advances in technology make further design and verification methods for structural strength and reliability of wind turbine towers imperative. Along with the growing interest for "green" energy, the wind energy sector has been developed tremendously the past decades. To this end, the improvement of wind turbine towers in terms of structural detailing and performance result in more efficient, durable and robust structures that facilitate their wider application, thus leading to energy harvesting increase. The wind tower industry is set to expand to greater heights than before and tapered steel towers with a circular cross-section are widely used as more capable of carrying heavier loads. The present study focuses on the improvement of the structural response of steel wind turbine towers, by means of internal stiffening. A thorough investigation of the contribution of stiffening rings to the overall structural behavior of the tower is being carried out. These stiffening rings are placed along the tower height to reduce local buckling phenomena, thus increasing the buckling strength of steel wind energy towers and leading the structure to a behavior closer to the one provided by the beam theory. Additionally to ring stiffeners, vertical stiffening schemes are studied to eliminate the presence of short wavelength buckles due to bending. For the purposes of this research, finite element analysis is applied in order to describe and predict in an accurate way the structural response of a model tower stiffened by internal stiffeners. Moreover, a parametric study is being performed in order to investigate the effect of the stiffeners' number to the functionality of the aforementioned stiffening systems and the improved structural behavior of the overall wind converter.

        A META-SOFTWARE SYSTEM FOR ORTHOGONAL DESIGNS AND HADAMARD MATRICES

        In this paper, we construct inequivalent Hadamard matrices based on several new and old full orthogonal designs, using circulant and symmetric block matrices. Not all orthogonal designs produce inequivalent Hadamard matrices, because the corresponding systems of equations do not possess solutions. The systems of equations arising when we search for inequivalent Hadamard matrices from full orthogonal designs using circulant and symmetric block matrices, can be concisely described using the periodic autocorrelation function of the generators of the block matrices. We use Maple, Magma, C and Unix tools to find many new inequivalent Hadamard matrices.

        Symptom Patterns in Hospitalized Adolescents A Comparison of 101 Schizophrenics with 101 Non-Schizophrenics

        思春期 兒童들의 甚한 非正常 精神狀態를 診斷하는데 있어서의 複合的인 문제점들을 究明하고저 入院된 思春期患者中 101名의 精神分裂症群을 同數의 非精神分裂症群과 入院記錄에 의하여 症狀들을 比較考察하였다. 各群 患者中 30% 以上에서 나타난 症狀들을 카이-스퀘어 分析하였다. 精神分裂症群에서는 4個의 症狀(幻聽, 不適當한 情緖行爲, 關係妄想 및 身體的인 亂暴性), 非精神分裂症群에서는 6個의 症狀(不服從, 훔치기, 마약남용, 싸우기, 초조 및 運動亢進)이 統計學的으로 주목할만한 증상들이었다. 이상의 症狀들 처럼 빈도가 높지는 않았지만 이외에도 11個의 症狀들이 精神分裂症患者群에 局限되어 나타났다. 發育過程中 思春期에서 보여지는 症狀들의 本硏究法과에 대한 論考를 하였다. One hundred one hospitalized adolescents diagnosed schizophrenics were compared with an identical number of non-schizophrenics. Symptoms appearing in 30 % or more of each group were subjected to chi-square analysis with the result that a total of four symptoms were reliably identified with schizophrenics, six with non-schizophrenics. Another eleven less frequently occurring symptoms appeared to occur almost exclusively in schizophrenics.

        Symptom Patterns in Hospitalized Adolescents A Comparison of 101 Schizophrenics with 101 Non-Schizophrenics

        In an attempt to castlight on the complex problems of diagnosis in severely disturbed adolescents, 101 hospitalized adolescents diagnosed schizophrenic were retrospectively compared by chart review with a matched group given other diagnoses. Symptoms appearing in at least 30% of patients in each group were subjected to chi-squ are analysis. Four symptoms (auditory hallucina tions, in a ppropriate affective behavior, ideas of reference and phsycial attacks) were reliab ly related w ith schizophrenia; six symptoms (disobedience, stealing, narc otic abuse, fighting , man ifest anxiety and hyperkine sis) distinguished the non-schizop hre nice population. An additional eleven symptoms, though not occurring as freq 니ently as the above,appeared almost exclusively in schizo phrenics. The relevalnce of these finding s to the adolescent phase of development is explored.
