Photovoltaic properties in poly(3-alkylthiophene) based heterojunction cells

Photocarrier generation and photovoltaic eect have been systematically studied in single layer ITO/poly(3-alkylthioph-ene)(P3AT)/Al Schottky and double layer ITO/P3AT/perylene/metal heterojunction cells. It has been found that Ohmic contactformation takes place between ITO (Au) with P3AT and Au (Ag, Al) with perylene derivatives. The double layer organic het-erojunction device shows strong rectifying behavior with the rectication ratio of 1000 (at. 2 V) and the ideality factor of 2.15. Themaximum incident photon to electron conversion eciency (IPCE) of 0.08% was found for the devices fabricated using regioregularjunction cell IPCE was more than an order of magnitude higher than that of the single layer junction of regioregular P3BT/Al.. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Monolayers of poly(3-hexyl thiophene) (P3HT) were obtained by dispensing a solution of P3HT with stearic acid (SA) inchloroform at air-water interface using JoyceLoebl LB trough. These lms were transferred onto indium-tin-oxide coated glasswere characterized by X-ray diraction and atomic force microscopic techniques. Photometric response of these P3HT/SA/GOXlms was obtained as a function of glucose concentration. These P3HT/SA/GOX LB lms show a linearity from 100 to 500 mg/dl ofglucose concentration.. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Evidence for superior outcome by adhering to therapy guidelines is imperative to their acceptance and adaptation for the optimal management of disease variants. Objective: Comparative study of prospective outcomes in simultaneous consideration of independent variables in groups of 150 patients of plaque psoriasis either treated adhering to or in digression of standard guidelines. Methods: The psoriasis area severity index (PASI) and the dermatology life quality index (DLQI), prior to and after three months of uninterrupted therapy were examined in treatment groups among 150 patients. Recovery rates of 75% or more in PASI were compared. Independent variables were also examined for their bearing on the outcome. Results: The vast majority was early onset disease phenotype. All three treatment regimens when administered in adherence to the guidelines yielded significantly superior rates of defined recovery both in PASI and DLQI. Compromise of the therapeutic outcome appeared in high stress profiles, obesity, female sex and alcohol, tobacco or smoking habit. Conclusion: Conventional drug therapy of plaque psoriasis yields superior outcome by adhering to the consensus guidelines. Psychiatric address to stress must be integral and special considerations for phenotypic/syndromic variants is emphasized for effective therapy of psoriasis.
