      • Generation of 2-D Parametric Surfaces with Highly Irregular Boundaries

Sarkar, Subhajit,Dey, Partha Pratim Society for Computational Design and Engineering 2008 International Journal of CAD/CAM Vol.8 No.1

The conventional methods of boundary-conformed 2D surfaces generation usually yield some problems. This paper deals with two boundary-conformed 2D surface generation methods, one conventional approach, the linear Coons method, and a new method, boundary-conformed interpolation. In this new method, unidirectional 2D surface has been generated using some of the geometric properties of the given boundary curves. A method of simultaneous displacement of the interpolated curves from the opposite boundaries has been adopted. The geometric properties considered for displacements include weighted combination of angle bisector and linear displacement vectors at all the data-points of the two opposite generating curves. The algorithm has one adjustable parameter that controls the characteristics of transformation of one set of curves from its parents. This unidirectional process has been extended to bi-directional parameterization by superimposing two sets of unidirectional curves generated from both boundary pairs. Case studies show that this algorithm gives reasonably smooth transformation of the boundaries. This algorithm is more robust than the linear Coons method and capable of resolving the 2D boundary-conformed parameterization problems.

        ACA Based Image Steganography

Sarkar, Anindita,Nag, Amitava,Biswas, Sushanta,Sarkar, Partha Pratim The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2013 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.2 No.5

LSB-based steganography is a simple and well known information hiding technique. In most LSB based techniques, a secret message is embedded into a specific position of LSB in the cover pixels. On the other hand, the main threat of LSB-based steganography is steganalysis. This paper proposes an asynchronous-cellular-automata(ACA)-based steganographic method, where secret bits are embedded into the selected position inside the cover pixel by ACA rule 51 and a secret key. As a result, it is very difficult for malicious users to retrieve a secret message from a cover image without knowing the secret key, even if the extraction algorithm is known. In addition, another layer of security is provided by almost random (rule-based) selection of a cover pixel for embedding using ACA and a different secret key. Finally, the experimental results show that the proposed method can be secured against the well-known steganalysis RS-attack.

      • A Tutorial on Different Classification Techniques for Remotely Sensed Imagery Datasets

        Soumadip Ghosh,Sushanta Biswas,Debasree Sarkar,Partha Pratim Sarkar 한국산학기술학회 2014 SmartCR Vol.4 No.1

Classification techniques are used on large databases to develop models describing different data classes. Such analysis can provide deep insight for better understanding of different large-scale databases. Studies related to knowledge acquisition and effective knowledge development are also very popular in the remote sensing field with satellite imagery datasets. In any remote sensing research, the decision-making process mainly depends on the effectiveness of the classification process. Efficient classification techniques were developed and applied to the Statlog (Landsat Satellite) database at the University of California, Irvine Machine Learning Repository to identify six land type classes. We used three different classification algorithms on the large satellite imagery: multilayer perceptron backpropagation neural network (MLP BPNN), support vector machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbor (k-NN). This research study aimed to evaluate the performance of these classification algorithms in the prediction of the classified lands from this large set of satellite imagery. We used different performance measures, such as classification accuracy, root-mean-square error, kappa statistic, true positive rate, false positive rate, precision, recall, and F-measure to evaluate the performance of each classifier. Among the three classification techniques applied, MLP BPNN turned out to be the best; next was k-NN, followed by SVM.

      • Location-Based Image Steganography

        Amitava Nag,Srirupa Bhattacharyya,Sushanta Biswas,Partha Pratim Sarkar 한국산학기술학회 2014 SmartCR Vol.4 No.2

The objective of steganography is to conceal the presence of a secret communication. Nevertheless, with the development of steganalytic attack, also known as steganalysis, there are many statistical methods to estimate the presence and ratio of secret messages. The chi square (χ2) attack and regular-singular (RS) attack are two well recognized and widely applied statistical steganalysis schemes. In this paper, a new image steganography scheme with location selection is proposed to resist statistical steganalysis. The experiment results indicate that the proposed method can resist both χ2 attacks as well as RS attacks.

Printed Monopole Antenna with Tree-Like Radiating Patch and Flower Vase-Shaped Modified Ground Plane Useful for Wideband Applications

        Bala Susmita,Reddy P. Soni,Mondal Rahul,Sarkar Partha Pratim,Sarkar Sushanta 한국전자파학회 2022 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.22 No.3

A novel design for the planar monopole antenna presented in this article consists of a patch resembling a tree and a modified ground plane resembling a flower vase. The proposed antenna is planned, designed, and made by utilizing FR4 substrate. The proposed antenna contributes to a computer simulation and tested S11 bandwidth of 9.4 GHz (144.62%) and 9.3 GHz (136.76%), respectively. A peak tested gain of 6.5 dBi and peak efficiency of 77.51% have been achieved. The measured results of the fabricated antenna are compared with the simulated results and are found to be in good agreement. The proposed antenna has a low general volume of 38 × 20 × 1.6 mm3 . The antenna can be used in C-band and X-band application.
