SoundLab and Electroacoustic Music in Hong Kong

이 글은 퍼마그너스 린드보르그와 료 이케시로가 공동감독한 홍콩성시대학교 크리에이티브 미디어 대학의 3차원 공간 오디오 연구 및 실습 부서인 사운드실험실을 소개하고, 진행보고서로서의 역할을 한다. 연구물과 예술작품, 교육 및 지원활동에 대한 설명과 목표로 논의를 시작한다. 이어, 사운드실험실의 활동과 기여할 목표인 학계와 독립음악을 포함한 예술계의 현장, 두 곳 모두에서 홍콩의 전자음악의 지역적 위상과 면모에 대하여 간략히 이야기한다. 개괄한다면, 부분적으로 지역의 음악가와 예술가들과의 인터뷰를 기반으로 진행중인 연구에서 예비조사한 결과에 바탕을 두었다. 그리고 나서, 필적할만한 시설과 프로그램을 갖춘 많은 학술기관과 협의를 거쳐 개발한 고해상도의 오디오에 사용되는 반구형 스피커 어레이를 고안한 것에 대하여 논의한다. 공간과 장비, 용도에 대한 세부적 내용도 감안하였다. 목표에 관련된 향후 계획으로 마무리한다. The paper introduces SoundLab, a 3D spatial audio research and practice unit at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, co-directed by PerMagnus Lindborg and Ryo Ikeshiro, and serves as a progress report. It begins with a description and its objectives involving research, artwork, teaching and outreach. It then gives a brief account of the local context of electroacoustic music in Hong Kong both in academia and in independent music and art scenes to which SoundLab aims to contribute through its activities. The overview is partly based on preliminary findings from an ongoing study based on interviews with local musicians and artists. It is followed by the design of a hemispherical loudspeaker array dedicated to high spatial resolution audio, developed after consulting a number of academic institutions with comparable facilities and programmes. Details concerning the space, equipment and usage are considered. Future plans in relation to its objectives are given in closing.
