Malaysia mainly consists of people from three ethnic groups (Malay, Chinese and Indian) and the official and national language of Malaysia is Malay. Malaysian standard English is a form English used and spoken in in Malaysia. Due to the heavy influence of Malay and lack of use of English, Malaysians English accent of Malaysian is not similar to standard English language. So, it is difficult use most commercially available speaker and accent recognition system for Malaysian speaker and accent recognition. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system to recognize individuals and their accents using the spoken utterances (Malaysian English). Spoken utterances (English digits (0~9) and Malay words) are recorded using the subjects including three ethnic groups (Malay, Chinese and Indian) of Malaysia. Database of speaker and accent are developed using. In this paper, wavelet packet transform based feature extraction method is proposed to extract salient features from the recorded spoken utterances. Support vector machine (SVM) is used to recognize individuals and their accent. The highest accuracy of 92.90% was obtained for speaker identification and 94.89% for accent identification using Malay words whereas the highest accuracy of 91.18% was obtained for speaker identification and 94.17% for accent recognition using Malay digit.

We conclude by looking at the implications of these findings for Malaysian families in the context of greater participation of women in the work force. Under the Seventh Malaysian Plan the government plans to provide a more favourable working environment for women to ensure their greater participation in the workforce, in wiew of the labour shortage. The private sector, the largest employer of women, will be encouraged to implement women-sensitive policies such as flexible working hours, day care centres and transportation facilities between the home and place of work (The star May 7, 1996).

Domestic Tourism has been identified as a sector that will help to sustain local economic growth by acting as a safety belt for the local tourism industry. The number of domestic tourism increased by 30.1 percent from 12.3 million in 2000 to 16.0 million in 2005. Domestic tourism works best during school holidays and long weekends. Notably, it is during low seasons periods namely non-school holidays and weekends that most domestic products or services providers experience low quality destination rate. Over development of tourism products or services area further aggravates the situation. The challenges therefore are for all concerned to initiate efforts to educate the public to exercise planned vacation so as to minimize the impact of low season. As such, a promotional campaign developed by the Tourism Development Board of Malaysia called "Cuti-Cuti Malaysia" is organized yearly to promote its holiday destination within the country and also to position such an event with planned holiday culture among Malaysian. This paper attempts to explore the overall performance of the promotional event in terms of the demographic, psychological as well as the preferred destination among the customers that bought the holiday package. A total of 100 respondents were interviewed during the event. A personal interview was conducted using simple random technique. The findings shows that the event attracted local tourist because of the packages it offers and mostly were bought by the Malay race who are married with children. However, the finding also shows that there were lack of destination attraction and the advertisement and promotion campaign did not highlight the actual budget of the planned vacation. The paper concludes a discussion regarding actions that can be taken by the Malaysian Tourist Development Board of Malaysia and other parties in order to make sure that the domestic tourism industry be more successful in the future.

In this work, Rhizophora spp. particleboard phantoms were made using SPI-based adhesives, modified with sodium hydroxide and itaconic acid polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin (0, 5, 10, and 15 wt%). An X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging system was used to ascertain the CT numbers and density distribution profiles of the particleboards. The SPI-based/NaOH/IA-PAE/Rhizophora spp. particleboard phantoms with 15 wt% IA-PAE addition level had the highest solid content, flexural strength, flexural modulus, and internal bonding strength of 36.06 ± 1.08%, 18.61 ± 0.38 Nmm-2, 7605.76 ± 0.89 Nmm-2, and 0.463 ± 0.053 Nmm-2, respectively. The moisture content, mass density, water absorption, and dimensional stability were 6.93 ± 0.27%, 0.962 ± 0.037 gcm-3, 22.36 ± 2.47%, and 10.90 ± 0.86%, respectively. The results revealed that the mass attenuation coefficients and effective atomic number values within the 16.59-25.26 keV photon energy region, were close to the calculated XCOM values in water, with a p-value of 0.077. Moreover, the CT images showed that the dissimilarities in the discrepancy of the profile density decreased as the IA-PAE concentrations increased. Therefore, these results support the appropriateness of the SPI-based/NaOH/IA-PAE/Rhizophora spp. particleboard with 15 wt% IA-PAE adhesive as a suitable tissue-equivalent phantom material for medical health applications.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) has a recognized association with solid organ tumors, but is relatively rare in hematological malignancies. We report a 67-year-old male who developed BP after being diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and refractory anemia with excess of blast (RAEB). Skin biopsy elucidated sub-epidermal bulla using direct immunofluorescence, revealing linear C3 and IgG deposits along the basement membrane. His BP was recalcitrant to the conventional treatment and only responded to a combination of high dose oral prednisolone and azathioprine. The relative refractory nature of his condition and concurrent RAEB supports a paraneoplastic nature. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S390~S392, 2011)
