Six Indian geographical populations of D. bipectinata were analysed electrophoretically for allozymic variation at nine loci as well as for ethanol tolerance potential. Allelic frequency changes at Adh, Odh and Est-5 loci correlated significantly with increase in latitude. On the basis of F_(ST) values, Adh, Odh, Mdh and α-Gpdh loci depicted modest amounts of genetic differentiation. Thus, the occurrence of significant genotypic as well as allelic frequency heterogeneity, genic differentiation and clinal variation at polymorphic loci suggest evidence of natural selection maintaining such genic differentiation in D. bipectinata populations from the Indian sub-continent. The Indian populations of D. bipectinata revealed genetic differentiation in term of ethanol indices such as LT_(50) hrs(72 to 96 hrs), adult ethanol threshold concentration(2.5 to 4.0'%), LC_(50) thanol concentration(2.7 to 4.2%). The parallel occurrence of latitudinal variation at Adh locus as well as ethanol tolerance in Indian geographical populations of D. bipectinata could be maintained by balancing natural selection varying spatially along the north south axis of the Indian sub-continent.

The newly prepared materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and tested for Hg2+ removal in water after functionalization with 2-aminoethanethiol (NS). The stability under different pH and temperature conditions was confirmed, and the equilibrium and kinetics of Hg2+ adsorption were examined by varying the contact time, adsorbate concentration, and pH. The maximum adsorption capacities for Hg2+ by IPOP-NS and SPOP-NS were 769 and 526 mg g−1, respectively, at 25 °C and pH 5, and the adsorption isotherm data conformed well to the Langmuir model. Compelling therapy of LVH: straight (and not-so-straight) inferences from evidence
Ravi Tejraj Mehta,Anil Pareek,Shruti Dharmadhikari 대한고혈압학회 2020 Clinical Hypertension Vol.26 No.1
We have read with interest the Korean Society of Hypertension guidelines for the management of hypertension and congratulate the Society for an extensive review of literature while drafting the guidelines. The guidelines indicate preferring ACE-I and CCB over diuretics in patients with left ventricle hypertrophy. However, in landmark head-to-head comparison trials, the thiazide-like diuretic chlorthalidone has been shown to be superior to ACE-I and CCB in decreasing left ventricle mass and preventing heart failure in hypertensive patients. Also, we put forth the paradoxical finding that mere regression of LVH may not always translate into reduction in risk of HF; and that the pleiotropic effects of chlorthalidone may be the explanation behind its beneficial action in HF.
Expiration-Day Effects on Index Futures: Evidence from Indian Market
Ravi Kumar SAMINENI,Raja Babu PUPPALA,Ramesh MUTHANGI,Syamsundar KULAPATHI 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11
Nifty Bank Index has started trading in futures and options (F&O) segment from 13th June 2005 in National Stock Exchange. The purpose of the study is to enhance the literature by examining expiration effect on the price volatility and price reversal of Underlying Index in India. Historical data used for the current study primarily comprise of daily close prices of Nifty Bank which is the only equity sectoral index in India which is traded in derivatives market and its Future contract value is derived from the underlying CNX Bank Index during the period 1st January 2010 till 31st March 2020. To check stationarity of the data, Augmented Dicky Fuller test was used. The study employed ARMA- EGARCH model for analysing the data. The empirical results revealed that there is no effect on the mean returns of underlying Index and EGARCH (1,1) model furthermore shows there is existence of leverage effect in the Bank Index i.e., negative shocks causes more fluctuations in the Index than positive news of similar magnitude. The outcome of the study specifies that there is no effect on volatility on the underlying sectoral index due to expiration days and also observed no price reversal effect once the expiration days are over.

Background: Preservation of hamstring tendon insertion at the time of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a well-known technique; however, its effect on graft integration is not well studied. The present study was conducted to study the graft integration inside the tibial and femoral tunnels, respectively, after ACL reconstruction using hamstring tendon graft with preserved insertion. Methods: Twenty-five professional athletes who underwent ACL reconstruction using hamstring tendon graft with preserved tibia insertion were enrolled in the study. Functional outcomes were checked at final follow-up using Lysholm score and Tegner activity scale. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was done at 8 months and 14 months follow-up to study the graft tunnel integration of the ACL graft at both tibial and femoral tunnels. Results: The mean Fibrous interzone (FI) score (tibial tunnel) decreased from 2.61 (1-5) at 8 months to 2.04 (1-4) at 14 months follow-up (p = 0.02). The mean FI score (femoral side) decreased from 3.04 (2-5) at 8 months to 2.57 (2-4) at 14 months (p = 0.02). Conclusions: Graft integration occurs early in the tibial tunnel as compared with the femur tunnel with preserved insertion hamstring tendon autograft. On constant--sign solutions of a system of discrete equations
Ravi P. Agarwal,Donal O'Regan,Patricia J. Y. Wong 한국전산응용수학회 2004 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.14 No.-
Abstract. We consider the following system of discrete equations ui(k) = N X `=0 gi(k, `)fi(`, u1(`), u2(`), · · · , un(`)), k 2 {0, 1, · · · , T}, 1 i n where T N > 0, 1 i n. Existence criteria for single, double and multiple constant-sign solutions of the system are established. To illustrate the generality of the results obtained, we include applications to several well known boundary value problems. The above system is also extended to that on {0, 1, · · ·} ui(k) = 1 X `=0 gi(k, `)fi(`, u1(`), u2(`), · · · , un(`)), k 2 {0, 1, · · ·}, 1 i n for which the existence of constant-sign solutions is investigated. Isolation of Phytosterols and Antihyperlipidemic Activity of Lagenaria siceraria
Ravi P. Kalsait,Pramod B. Khedekar,Ashok N. Saoji,Kishor P. Bhusari 대한약학회 2011 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.34 No.10
Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl in the Cucurbitaceae family is a large, pubescent, climbing, or trailing herb cultivated throughout India and the tropical regions of the world. Phytochemical investigation of the methanol extract obtained from the fruits of the plant L. siceraria showed a positive Liebermann-Burchard test for sterols. The white sterol crystals or phytosterols from the methanol extract were isolated for the first time and identified as a mixture of four sterols, including fucosterol (1), racemosol (2), stigmasterol (3), and stigmasta-7,22-dien-3β,4β-diol (4). These compounds were identified by spectroscopic evidence including FTIR, 1H-NMR, MS, and GC. The white sterol crystals, which are the mixture of four sterols, were evaluated for antihyperlipidemic activity in Wistar rats. The blood samples were collected from the retro-orbital plexus and serum was separated and analyzed for lipid profiles. These sterol crystals (30 mg/kg) showed significant reductions in lipid profiles which included cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and VLDL. In addition, a significant increase in HDL cholesterol observed, which is a good cholesterol that protects hearts from coronary artery diseases. These sterol crystals or phytosterols can be used as an antihyperlipidemic agent to treat the hyperlipidemic.
