CLASS OF MAPPINGS BETWEEN Rz-SUPERCONTINUOUS FUNCTIONS AND Rδ-SUPERCONTINUOUS FUNCTIONS

        ( A. R. Prasannan ),( Jeetendra Aggarwal ),( A. K. Das ),( Jayanta Biswas ) 호남수학회 2017 호남수학학술지 Vol.39 No.4

A new class of functions called Rθ-supercontinuous functions is introduced. Their basic properties are studied and their place in the hierarchy of strong variants of continuity, which already exist in the literature, is elaborated. The class of Rθ-supercontinuous functions properly contains the class of Rz-supercontinuous functions [39] which in turn properly contains the class of Rcl-supercontinuous functions [43] and so includes all cl-supercontinuous (clopen continuous) functions ([38], [34]) and is properly contained in the class of Rδ-supercontinuous functions [24].

Performance Evaluation of Modified Low-Temperature Cascade (MLTC) Type Refrigeration System

        Siddiqui Mohd Waseem,Das Nishith Kumar,Sahoo R. K. 대한설비공학회 2021 International Journal Of Air-Conditioning and Refr Vol.29 No.3

An experimental investigation was carried out to study the performance evaluation of Modified Low-Temperature Cascade (MLTC) system, based on two-stage cascade type refrigeration system using the combination of R404A/R23 refrigerants. This system was developed using chilled water (CHW) in the condenser of high-temperature circuit (HTC) and pre-cooler (PC) in the low-temperature circuit (LTC). Isentropic compression efficiency is computed in this work and used here as an important parameter. Performance of MLTC system was compared with or without the introduction of PC into LTC. System’s coefficient of performance (COP) has also been compared with using CHW, cooling tower water (CTW), normal water (NW) into the HTC condenser. It has also been shown that COPs of the system are significantly affected by slight variation in the LTC and HTC evaporating temperatures. Presented parameters and comparisons are likely to help in developing a low-temperature (LT) refrigeration system with higher efficiency for industrial and other applications.

Aberration in the structural paradigm of lens protein α crystallin by UV-C irradiation

        R. K. Ghosh,T. Kar,B. Dutta,A. Pathak,R. Rakshit,R. Basak,A. Das,K. Waheeda,P. Basak,M. Bhattacharyya 한국응용생명화학회 2018 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.61 No.3

The conformation of lens protein α crystallin was investigated using different spectroscopic techniques under normal and UV-C-irradiated condition. The structural elucidation of commercially available lens protein α crystallin under the effects of UV-C irradiation has never been reported earlier. To study the effects of irradiation on the lens protein, we used UV–visible spectroscopy, CD spectroscopy, and steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence measurements along with FTIR study, under increasing doses of UV-C irradiation. Using the secondary and tertiary structural changes as parameters for detecting conformational perturbation, we investigated the structural paradigm shift in the lens protein α crystallin. Increasing doses of UV-C radiation resulted in decreasing β sheet content of α crystallin from 30 to 10%. The fluorescence profile confirmed the formation of ROS species in the protein upon extensive exposure to UV-C irradiation. These results inferred UV-C irradiation may induce alteration of secondary structure of the lens protein leading to impaired biological functioning.

Size dependent charge storage characteristics of MBE grown Ge nanocrystals on surface oxidized Si

        R. Aluguri,S. Das,R.K. Singha,S.K. Ray 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.1

We have demonstrated the growth of size controlled Ge nanocrystals by molecular beam epitaxy on oxidized Si for the fabrication of floating gate memory structure. The size and density of the nanocrystals have been controlled by varying the growth temperature. The role of interface states and nanocrystals on the memory characteristics has been studied using frequency dependent conductance-voltage measurements. Superior retention characteristics and an enhanced memory window width have been achieved by replacing SiO2 with high-k Al2O3 as a blocking oxide with a higher barrier height.

      • Electron states in a silicon nanowire in the presence of surface potential and field

        Das, N R,Shinwari, M W,Deen, M J,Lee, Jeong-Soo IOP Pub 2012 Nanotechnology Vol.23 No.41

<P>In this paper, the energy states of electrons in a silicon nanowire are analytically calculated in the presence of a surface potential and an electric field, as in a nanowire field-effect transistor. The calculations are done for both partial and complete volume inversion and accumulation biasing conditions. Computations are performed for the ⟨100⟩ and ⟨110⟩ orientations of the silicon nanowire. The results show the effects of the surface potential, the electric field and the transverse dimensions of the nanowire on the electron energies and wavefunctions. Depending on the combinations of the surface potential and electric field, the energy level can increase, decrease or remain constant as the thickness of the nanowire increases. It is also observed that higher surface potentials can significantly change the energy states due to the increase of volume inversion/accumulation. </P>

Dielectric and electrical properties of a tungsten bronze tantalate ceramic

        R. Padhee,Piyush R. Das,B. N. Parida,S. Behera,R. N. P. Choudhary 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.6

Using high temperature solid state reaction the polycrystalline sample of K2Pb2Dy2W2Ti4Ta4O30 was prepared. Single-phase compound formation was confirmed by preliminary X-ray structural analysis. The surface morphology recorded by scanning electron microscope at room temperature exhibits a dense uniform grain distribution on the surface of the sample. Ferroelectricity in the material is confirmed by the variation of polarization with temperature. The temperature and frequency dependence of electrical parameters (impedance, modulus, conductivity, etc.) of the material exhibits a strong correlation with its microstructure (i.e., bulk, grain boundary, etc.) and electrical properties. A typical Arrhenius behavior was observed in the temperature dependence of dc conductivity. The nature of frequency dependence of ac conductivity obeys Jonscher’s universal power law. The variation of current with temperature shows that the material has high pyroelectric coefficient and figure of merit, thus making it useful for pyroelectric sensors with working temperature upto 500 ℃.

      • Proteomic changes induced by histone demethylase JMJD3 in TNF alpha-treated human monocytic (THP-1) cells

        Das, A.,Das, N.D.,Jung, K.H.,Park, J.H.,Lee, H.T.,Han, D.,Choi, M.R.,Kang, S.C.,Chai, Y.G. Pergamon Press 2013 Molecular immunology Vol.56 No.1

JMJD3, a Jumonji C family histone demethylase, plays an important role in the regulation of inflammation induced by the transcription factor nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) in response to various stimuli. JMJD3 is a histone-3 lysine-27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) demethylase, a histone mark associated with transcriptional repression and activation of a diverse set of genes. The present study assessed stable JMJD3 knockdown (KD)-dependent proteomic profiling in human leukemia monocyte (THP-1) cells to analyze the JMJD3-mediated differential changes of marker expression in inflammatory cells. To analyze the protein expression profile of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α)-stimulated JMJD3-kd THP-1 cells, we employed matrix-assisted-laser-desorption/ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Additionally, Ingenuity Pathways Analysis (IPA) was applied to establish the molecular networks. A comparative proteomic profile was determined in TNF-α-treated both of JMJD3-kd THP-1 cells and THP-1 scrambled (sc) cells. The expression of tripartite motif protein (TRIM5), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glia maturation factor-γ (GMFG), caspase recruitment domain family, member 14 (CARMA2), and dUTP pyrophosphatase were significantly down-regulated, whereas heat shock protein beta-1 (HspB1) and prohibition were significantly up-regulated in JMJD3-kd THP-1 cells. The molecular and signaling networks of the differentially expressed proteins in JMJD3-kd THP-1 cells were determined by IPA. The molecular network signatures and functional proteomics obtained in this study may facilitate the suppression of different key inflammatory regulators through JMJD3-attenuation, which would be crucial to evaluate potential therapeutic targets and to elucidate the molecular mechanism of JMJD3-kd dependent effects in THP-1 cells.
