        Dance is and artistic form that expresses one's emotions aesthetically through human natural movements. Since dance reflects living at the time. the history of New Korean Dance has attracted a lot of interest from a number of researchers. However, it is rather hard to investigate how it has developed historically because dance is not a material art form. Previous studies have also been limited in that they usually focused on a particular period or on the lives of particular dancers. The purpose of this dissertation is to examine how New Korean Dance started to develop into its present form and. by doing so. to explore its influence on present-day Korean dance. Following Ahn(1984). this study divides the history of New Korean Dance into four main periods: the Infan cy Period(1926-1945). and the Confusion Period(1945.9-1950.6). In this study, it is claimed that New Korean Dance began with the historical dance performance by Ishiipaku at Kyungsung Konghoidang on March 21. 1926. It was the first original stage performance in Korean dance history. and had a great influence on the subsequent development of theater dance. The main dancers during this Infancy period include S. H. Choi. T. W. Cho, S. C. Bae. Han. and K. C. Bae. They put Korean dance on the stage as a group dance and made a significant artistic breakthrough by adding western elements. Thus. the dance during this period became the basis for the development of New Korean Dance. The Confusion Period is characterized by the Liberation from the Japanese oppression in 1945 and the outbreak of the Korean War. Due to the circumstances, there was no substantial development in Korean dance since most of the artistic activities were based on the ideology of that time. The primary purpose of the dance development. The main dancers during this period are T. W. Cho. M., I. Kim, B. Song S. B. Chin. D. I. Han. and C. H. Chang

        A Study on a Business English Teaching-Learning Method Using Movies and Videos

        Business communication skills have been an important factor in enhancing the competitiveness of countries and organizations due to the increase in international business as a result of the globalization. Our educational institutions still don't meet the needs of learners and industry. In order to cultivate a business professional manpower equipped with practical English competence and communication skills that are required in the workplace at university level in Korea, this study develops a business English teaching-learning method using movies & videos, applies it to the 'Business English' classes which consist of forty-three students during the fall semester of 2012 and evaluates the effectiveness of the method. Questionnaires are used to collect the data. The result shows that most of the participants of this study think that the method makes it easier to learn (81.4%), is fun (95.3%), motivates learning (72.1%), enables them to learn a variety of English pronunciation and intonation (86%), exposes them to actual spoken language (81.4%), helps to strengthen communication skills (81.4%), provides the opportunity to practice English (72.1%), enables them to learn about foreign business culture (86%), and encourages cooperative learning (43.5%). As for the effectiveness of the method, 93% of the participants show positive responses.

        제3차 표준보육과정 활동프로그램에 기초한영아용 의사소통 척도 타당화 연구

        본 연구는 제3차 표준보육과정 중 의사소통영역을 기초로 만 2세용 의사소통 척도를 개발하여 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 서울 및 경기 지역에 소재 어린이집 22곳의 영아 286명이었으며, 담당 보육교사가 평가도구를 활용하여 의사소통영역을 관찰한 후 평가하도록 하였다. 본 연구결과로 초기의 4영역 88문항은 2차례의 전문가 내용타당도 검증과 9차례 요인분석 및 전문가 내용타당도 검증을 통해 최종 4개 영역 21문항이 도출되었고, 구체적으로 듣기 6문항, 말하기 6문항, 읽기 6문항, 쓰기 3문항이었고 타당도와 신뢰도가 모두 높게 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 영유아 교육현장에서 제3차 표준보육과정의 의사소통 활동과 일관성 있게 활용할 수 있는 발달 척도를 개발했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. This study investigates the validity and reliability of an instrument for measuring communication skill development among two-year-old children on the basis of the third standard activity-based care program. Participants consisted of 286 two-year-olds registered at 22 daycare centers in the Seoul and Gyeong-gi provinces. Their teachers assessed their level of communication skills using an instrument. The instrument as initially implemented had 88 question items covering four areas of communication, while the final version retained only 21 items across the four areas after several expert validity examinations and factor analyses. Among the retained items, six were for listening, six for speaking, six for reading, and three for writing; all had high validity and reliability. The results of this study will contribute to the development of standardized activity-based care programs with consistent evaluation instruments.

        Factors Causing Writing Apprehension among ESL Learners

        In order to discover the factors causing writing apprehension among ESL students at American colleges and universities, this study explored the experiences of ESL students with writing in both their previous and current contexts. The primary data consisted of interviews with 16 students from 10 different countries, studying in a college writing class. This study also collected secondary data which included classroom observation and the participants' written work. These helped guide the discussion at the interviews with respect to the contexts in which the participants wrote. All interviews were tape recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. The findings indicated that all participants were apprehensive about writing. Three major factors causing their writing apprehension were discerned: linguistic, situational, and psychological. Implications and recommendations are provided for teachers who interact with ESL writers.

        Vibration analysis of composite pipes using the finite element method with B-spline wavelets

        A finite element formulation using the B-spline wavelets on the interval is developed for modeling the free vibrations of composite pipes. The composite FRP pipe element is treated as a beam element. The finite pipe element is constructed in the wavelet space and then transformed to the physical space. Detailed expressions of the mass and stiffness matrices are derived for the composite pipe using the Bspline scaling and wavelet functions. Both Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories are considered. The generalized eigenvalue problem is formulated and solved to obtain the modal characteristics of the composite pipe. The developed wavelet-based finite element discretization scheme utilizes significantly less elements compared to the conventional finite element method for modeling composite pipes. Numerical solutions are obtained to demonstrate the accuracy of the developed element, which is verified by comparisons with some available results in the literature.

        해외어학연수가 한국학생의 언어학습에 미치는 영향

        There has been increasing number of Korean students who attend English language camps in English speaking countries. However, there are not enough in-depth studies on the topic of English camps. We need to gain more thoughts and ideas about the topic. Therefore, this study explores the experiences of 16 Korean college students in an English camp held from July 3, 2004 to July 29, 2004 in Vancouver, Canada. The findings collected through informal and semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and students' written work indicate that all participants were positively affected by attending English language camps. The implications are discussed in three perspectives: Psychological, language educational, and socio-cultural perspectives.
