Nik Hanis Zuraihan RAHIMI,Dr. Mohamad Sattar RASUL,Ruhizan MOHAMAD YASSIN 한국직업자격학회 2017 한국직업자격학회 학술대회 Vol.2017 No.10

Entrepreneurship education in Malaysia mainly focuses on general knowledge, perceptions, intentions and characteristics to become entrepreneurs. There is still a paucity of empirical research that emphasize the environment in which the study defined as an entrepreneurial learning ecosystem while it is calculated as a ratio of no less importance in entrepreneurship education. This paper will discuss the role of entrepreneurial learning ecosystem within the scope of learning in vocational colleges. A systematic review technique using published articles and books will be used to get information about the topic. The result is a discussion of the ecosystem model of learning, academic plan within college environment and entrepreneurial learning processes. This study proposes a conceptual framework that consists of a three dimension which are academic plan, learning proces and environmental influences in the development of an entrepreneurial learning ecosystem as a basis for future research. In conclusion, the concept of an ecosystem provides a comprehensive overview of the role of the components, processes and influences that range in the vicinity of entrepreneurial learning in vocational colleges.

      • Support for a Campus Tobacco-Free Policy among Non-Smokers: Findings from a Developing Country

Yasin, Siti Munira,Isa, Mohamad Rodi,Fadzil, Mohd Ariff,Zamhuri, Mohammad Idris,Selamat, Mohamad Ikhsan,Ruzlin, Aimi Nadira Mat,Ibrahim, Nik Shamsidah Nik,Ismail, Zaliha,Majeed, Abu Bakar Abdul Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.1

Background: A tobacco-free workplace policy is identified as an effective means to reduce tobacco use and protect people from second-hand smoke; however, the number of tobacco-free policies (TFP) remains very low in workplaces in Malaysia. This study explored the factors affecting support for a tobacco-free policy on two healthcare campuses in Malaysia, prior to the implementation of TFP. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 286 non-smokers from two healthcare training centres and two nearby colleges in Malaysia from January 2015 to April 2015. A standardized questionnaire was administered via staff and student emails. The questionnaire collected information on sociodemographic characteristics, support for a tobacco-free policy and perceived respiratory and sensory symptoms due to tobacco exposure. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to estimate the independent effects of supporting a tobacco-free campus. Results: The percentage of individuals supporting completely tobacco-free facilities was 83.2% (N=238), as opposed to 16.7% (N=48) in support of partially tobacco-free facilities. Compared to the supporters of partially tobacco-free facilities, non-smokers who supported completely tobacco-free health facilities were more likely to be female, have higher education levels, to be very concerned about the effects of other people smoking on their health and to perceive a tobacco-free policy as very important. In addition, they perceived that tobacco smoke bothered them at work by causing headaches and coughs and, in the past 4 weeks, had experienced difficulty breathing. In the multivariate model, after adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics and other factors, only experiencing coughs and headaches increased the odds of supporting a completely tobacco-free campus, up to 2.5- and 1.9-fold, respectively. Conclusions: Coughs and headaches due to other people smoking at work enhances support for a completely tobacco-free campus among non-smokers.

      • The Moderating Role of Fintech App Usage in Lower-Income Households in Malaysia: A Financial Well-Being Roadmap

Mohamad Fazli Sabri,Siti Shazwani Ahmad Suhaimi,Nur Shuhamin Nazuri,Amirah Shazana Magli,Nik Ahmad Suffian Burhan,Mohd. Amim Othman 국제금융소비자학회 2023 The International Review of Financial Consumers(IR Vol.8 No.2

In Malaysia, the B40 group represents households with a monthly income below MYR4,850 (USD1,093), constituting the lowest 40% of earners facing economic challenges. Amid rising living costs and employment instability, managing finances becomes crucial. Fintech apps, known for accessibility and convenience, offer various financial services. A cluster sampling strategy was used to identify 1,948 B40 households from across Peninsular and East Malaysia to serve as the study's sample population. The data was obtained through a cross-sectional study then scrutinised via SEM-PLS. This study aims to determine factors such as locus of control, financial knowledge, and financial behaviour concerning the usage of fintech apps that impact the financial well-being of Malaysian B40 households. The study findings indicate a significant positive correlation between an individual's Financial Knowledge and Locus of Control toward Malaysia B40 Financial Well-Being. The study suggests that Financial Behaviour partially mediates the relationship between Financial Knowledge, Locus of Control, and Financial Well- Being. The study also indicates that Fintech App Use moderates the relationship between Financial Knowledge, Locus of Control, and Financial Well-Being. The present study contributes to the theoretical understanding of financial well-being by investigating the mediating and moderating factors influencing this construct.

A case report of complete cricotracheal separation: an experience from the east coast of Malaysia

Rozhan Atikah,Mohamad Adam,Rajet Khairul Azhar M.,Ahmad Mohd Zaki,Yusof Suhaimi Bin,Mohamed Wan Emelda Wan,Susibalan Bathma Devi,Ghani Nik Mohd Syukra Nik Abd,Asha’ari Zamzil Amin Bin 대한외상학회 2022 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.35 No.4

Complete cricotracheal separation, which is the most severe type of laryngeal trauma, is an uncommonly seen injury that clinicians have limited experience in managing. However, it is potentially fatal. Due to limited exposure to this condition, mismanagement can occur, which may further aggravate the patient’s condition. The most crucial part of managing this injury is to establish a secure airway. Tracheostomy under local anesthesia is the preferred method of airway stabilization, in order to avoid further injuries to the airway caused by endotracheal intubation. Here, we discuss the management of complete cricotracheal separation based on a case experienced in the east coast region of Malaysia, where this type of injury is rarely encountered.

Micropatterning of Spin-Coated Hybrid Materials by Using an UV Polymerization Technique

        Aishah Isnin,Mat Tamizi Zainuddin,Nik Azmi N. A. Aziz,Mohamad Zahid A. Malek 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5

Hybrid organic-inorganic materials are promising candidates and if their properties are tailored, several diffrent submicron planar optical passive and active devices, such as waveguides, ampli- fiers, splitters and couplers can be produced. In this present study, we report on sol-gel-derived organic-inorganic materials made from vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES). The lms were deposited on glass substrates by using a spin-coating technique. The lm densification was done at 300℃ and a patterned waveguide structure was fabricated by using UV-irradiation through a negative photomask. The SEM micrograph shows that channel patterns with a width of about 8 m were formed by etching of the unirradiated regions of the films. • Self-Sampling Versus Physicians' Sampling for Cervical Cancer Screening - Agreement of Cytological Diagnoses

Othman, Nor Hayati,Zaki, Fatma Hariati Mohamad,Hussain, Nik Hazlina Nik,Yusoff, Wan Zahanim Wan,Ismail, Pazuddin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.7

Background: A major problem with cervical cancer screening in countries which have no organized national screening program for cervical cancer is sub-optimal participation. Implementation of self-sampling method may increase the coverage. Objective: We determined the agreement of cytological diagnoses made on samples collected by women themselves (self-sampling) versus samples collected by physicians (Physician sampling). Materials and Methods: We invited women volunteers to undergo two procedures; cervical self-sampling using the Evalyn brush and physician sampling using a Cervex brush. The women were shown a video presentation on how to take their own cervical samples before the procedure. The samples taken by physicians were taken as per routine testing (Gold Standard). All samples were subjected to Thin Prep monolayer smears. The diagnoses made were according to the Bethesda classification. The results from these two sampling methods were analysed and compared. Results: A total of 367 women were recruited into the study, ranging from 22 to 65 years age. There was a significant good agreement of the cytological diagnoses made on the samples from the two sampling methods with the Kappa value of 0.568 (p=0.040). Using the cytological smears taken by physicians as the gold standard, the sensitivity of self-sampling was 71.9% (95% CI:70.9-72.8), the specificity was 86.6% (95% CI:85.7-87.5), the positive predictive value was 74.2% (95% CI:73.3-75.1) and the negative predictive value was 85.1% (95% CI: 84.2-86.0). Self-sampling smears (22.9%) allowed detection of micro-organisms better than physicians samples (18.5%). Conclusions: This study shows that samples taken by women themselves (self-sampling) and physicians have good diagnostic agreement. Self-sampling could be the method of choice in countries in which the coverage of women attending clinics for screening for cervical cancer is poor.

Malaysian pharmacy students’ perspectives on the virtual objective structured clinical examination during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic

Mohamed Hassan Elnaem,Muhammad Eid Akkawi,Nor Ilyani Mohamed Nazar,Norny Syafinaz Ab Rahman,Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamed 한국보건의료인국가시험원 2021 보건의료교육평가 Vol.18 No.-

Purpose: This study investigated pharmacy students’ perceptions of various aspects of virtual objective structured clinical examinations (vOSCEs) conducted during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in Malaysia. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved third- and fourth-year pharmacy students at the International Islamic University Malaysia. A validated self-administered questionnaire was distributed to students who had taken a vOSCE a week before. Results: Out of the 253 students who were approached, 231 (91.3%) completed the questionnaire. More than 75% of the participants agreed that the instructions and preparations were clear and helpful in familiarizing them with the vOSCE flow. It was found that 53.2% of the respondents were satisfied with the flow and conduct of the vOSCE. However, only approximately one-third of the respondents believed that the tasks provided in the vOSCE were more convenient, less stressful, and easier to perform than those in the conventional OSCE. Furthermore, 49.7% of the students favored not having a vOSCE in the future when conducting a conventional OSCE becomes feasible again. Internet connection was reported as a problem hindering the performance of the vOSCE by 51.9% of the participants. Students who were interested in clinical pharmacy courses were more satisfied than other students with the preparation and operation of the vOSCE, the faculty support, and the allocated time. Conclusion: Students were satisfied with the organization and operation of the vOSCE. However, they still preferred the conventional OSCE over the vOSCE. These findings might indicate a further need to expose students to telehealthcare models.

Sole Proprietorship Business Succession in Malaysia: A Perspective of Civil and Islamic Law*

Afifah HAMDAN,Nasrul Hisyam NOR MUHAMAD,Mohd Khairy KAMARUDIN,Abdul Basit SAMAT@DARAWI,Nik Mohd Zaim AB RAHIM,Nur Izzati MOHAMAD NORZILAN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.3

Issues relating to business inheritance are a primary focus for business owners. Business inheritance is critical to ensuring that the business can be managed by the next generation and family members can benefit from the earnings and revenues. Therefore, preliminary planning must be done while the business owner is still alive by selecting the appropriate business inheritance mechanism for Muslims in Malaysia. The mechanisms of business inheritance, notably faraid, hibah, amanah, and hibah amanah will be examined in this paper from both a civil and Islamic perspective. By reviewing written journals and previous research, this research utilizes the library method. According to this study, business succession can be carried out by naming a beneficiary as a partner in the company or by completing the ownership transfer process while the owner is still living. In the other situation, it can be done by anyone among the heirs agreeing to re-register the business as usual. Meanwhile, there are four main instruments in Islamic law that can be used: faraid, hibah, amanah, and commercial hibah. According to this study, each instrument has a different impact on business succession. Entrepreneurs should use these instruments in their firm succession planning.

      • Stages of Smoking Cessation among Malaysian Adults - Findings from National Health Morbidity Survey 2006

Lim, Kuang Hock,Ibrahim, Normala,Ghazali, Sumarni Mohd,Kee, Chee Cheong,Lim, Kuang Kuay,Chan, Ying Ying,Teh, Chien Huey,Tee, Eng Ong,Lai, Wai Yee,Nik Mohamad, Mohd. Haniki,Sidek, Sherina Mohd Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Increasing the rate of smoking cessation will reduce the burden of diseases related to smoking, including cancer. Understanding the process of smoking cessation is a pre-requisite to planning and developing effective programs to enhance the rate of smoking cessation. The aims of the study were to determine the demographic distribution of smokers across the initial stages of smoking cessation (the pre-contemplation and contemplation stages) and to identify the predictors of smoking cessation among Malaysian adult smokers. Data were extracted from a population-based, cross-sectional survey carried out from April 2006 to July 2006. The distribution of 2,716,743 current smokers across the pre-contemplation stage (no intention to quit smoking in the next six months) or contemplation stage (intended to quit smoking in the next six months) was described. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between socio-demographic variables and the stages of smoking cessation. Of the 2,716,743 current smokers, approximately 30% and 70% were in the pre-contemplative and contemplative stages of smoking cessation respectively. Multivariable analysis showed that male gender, low education level, older age group, married and those from higher income group and number of cigarettes smoked were associated with higher likelihood of pre-contemplation to cease smoking in the next six months. The majority of current smokers in Malaysia were in the contemplative stage of smoking cessation. Specific interventions should be implemented to ensure the pre-contemplative smokers proceed to the contemplative stage and eventually to the preparation stage.
