This paper examines the work of Korean biologists during the Cold War. I concentrate on the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) ecological survey, which was conducted in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution in the mid-1960s. Korea’s DMZ, a legacy of the Korean War (1950-53), was recognized as a wildlife repository in the first ecological survey. The Smithsonian delegates, however, had different expectations and intentions from the Korean biologists who were conducting the survey. The project ended as a preliminary survey that never advanced to the next stage of research because of the military tension between North and South Korea. Nonetheless, this made it possible for the Korean biologists an opportunity to present their work to Korean public and receive government support for biological research in the 1970s under the auspices of nature conservation. While tracing the process and results of the joint ecological survey, I will investigate the role of United States partners in the growth of Korean biology, and the strategies adopted by the Korean biologists.
유아의 이야기 짓기와 극화 활동의 연계가 유아의 이야기 구조 및 탈상황적 언어 발달에 미치는 영향

This study examined the effect of story dictation and dramatization on children`s story construction and decontextualized language. For 12 weeks, the 22 five-year-old children in the experimental group participated in story dictation and dramatization activities while another 22 same-age children participated only in story dictation. The instruments were the children`s Decontextualized Language Test(Foley, 1992) and children`s Story Analysis(Knipping, 1987), revised to fit Korean grammar. Story dictation and dramatization facilitated high level story construction by children: it raised levels of story coherence and narrative form. Story dictation and dramatization also enhanced decontextualized language of children, raising their use of decontextualized language on a picture description task.
X-LIFTING MODULES OVER RIGHT PERFECT RINGS

Keskin and Harmanci defined the family β(M,X) = {A ≤ MI ∃Y ≤ X, ∃f ∈ HomR(M,X/Y), Ker f/A ≪ M/A}. And Orhan and Keskin generalized projective modules via the class β(M,X). In this note we introduce X-local summands and X-hollow modules via the class β(M,X). Let R be a right perfect ring and let M be an X-lifting module. We prove that if every co-closed submodule of any projective module contains its radical, then M has an indecomposable decomposition. This result is a generalization of Kuratomi and Chang``s result [9, Theorem 3.4]. Let X be an R-module. We also prove that for an X-hollow module H such that every non-zero direct summand K of H with K ∈ β(M,X), if H ㅁ H has the internal exchange property, then H has a local endomorphism ring.
