Every human being is entitled to clean, safe, affordable and physically accessible water. However, the availability and accessibility of safe and clean water is the challenge to citizens, especially in poor countries, Tanzania inclusive. Besides, the hassle is much worse to women and girls, mainly those living in rural areas. This paper will explore the limitations of women and girls to enjoy their right to water and sanitation in schools, health facilities and at home. Among others, the paper will also link the lack of water and poor sanitation to women`s poverty and the national economic loss. Conclusively, the paper will recommend a collective voice and action in demanding for adequate resource allocation for improving the provision of water and sanitation in order to empower women and girls socially, economically and politically in one way and improving the national economy on the other hand.
