The Impact of Organizational Resilience on Hotel Performance during Pandemic COVID-19
Mohammad Hamsal,Sri Bramantoro Abdinagoro,Arif Zulkarnain,Dino Gustaf Leonandri,Mohammad Ichsan 사람과세계경영학회 2022 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.27 No.1
Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of dynamic capabilities and organizational resilience on firm performance driven by environmental turbulence of the hotel industry in Indonesia during the pandemic COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach: Herein, an integrated conceptual framework is developed and then tested using survey data from a cross-section of 194 hotels using structural equation modelling. Findings: The result of this research reveals that environmental turbulence significantly affects dynamic capabilities empirically. In other words, the dynamic capabilities affect organizational resilience, however, there is no significant effect from organizational resilience to hotel performance. This shows an indication of survival mode in the hotel industry in Indonesia. Research limitations/implications: This study extends theoretically the concept of organizational resilience in the context of environmental turbulence especially during pandemic COVID-19. Practical implication of this study justifies that during such crisis, it is imperative for the organizations to focus on survival rather than financial performance. Originality/value: This study introduces the antecedents of organizational resilience, namely the dynamic capabilities and environmental turbulence in the context of pandemic COVID-19. It also advances the knowledge on how the hotel industry can be managed during that period.

In present study, a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) approach is proposed for predicting the effects of roughness on the performance of hydrodynamically lubricated three-dimensional (3D) journal bearing, taking mechanical deformation effects. The multi-phase cavitation mass flow conservation model is adopted, in which the phase change boundary condition is allowable. The results show that the mechanical deformation effect on bearing performance has been confirmed to be substantial. When the deformation of the structure is considered in calculating the change of film thickness, the bearings carry less load (i.e. 30-70 % smaller depending on the surface roughness value) as compared to the case in which the deformation is neglected. It is also highlighted that the hydrodynamic pressure and load support decrease with surface roughness.
Enhancing Quality across Industries: A Systematic Literature Review on the Impact of Six Sigma
Ahmad Syamil,Mohammad Ichsan,Muhammad Syahrazly,Maharani Putri Fadjar,Irza Raihan Revidia People&Global Business Association 2023 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.28 No.7
Purpose: The objective of this study is to conduct a systematic literature review on the impact of Six Sigma in various industries. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 83 articles from respected international journals published between 2015 and 2020 were selected and analyzed. The inclusion criteria ensured that the articles focused on quality improvement using the Six Sigma approach and were published by reputable publishers. Findings: The f indings of the s tudy reveal that manufacturing emerged as the most prevalent sector, with 17 studies dedicated to it. Among the selected articles, case studies were the most employed research method, accounting for 59 studies. Moreover, the study highlights the primary benefits associated with implementing Six Sigma. The most notable benefit is the reduction of defect rates, followed by improvements in efficiency and cost reduction. the primary benefit of Six Sigma is the reduction of defects (52 cases or 42.75%), followed by improvement in efficiency (49 cases or 37.40%), and then cost reduction (26 cases or 19.85%). Research limitations/implications: Based on the results, the study recommends that organizations adopt Six Sigma to enhance the quality of their processes, increase efficiency, and minimize costs. Originality/value: T his recommendation is p articularly relevant f or t he m anufacturing s ector, which s howcased the highest concentration of research studies in the literature.
