Influence of Nanoclay on the Properties and Morphology of Cement Mortar
Mohammad R. Irshidat,Mohammed H. Al-Saleh 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.10
This paper investigates the impact of partial substitution of cement with hydrophilic nanoclay platelets on the mechanical properties, workability, consistency, water absorption and morphology of cement mortar. Cement mortar mixtures with various replacement ratios, 0.5%, 1%, and 2% of nanoclay by weight of cement, were prepared and tested according to the standards. The results show that adding small quantities of nanoclay could improve the mechanical strengths of cement mortar. The best enhancements were reported for cement mortar reinforced with 2 wt.% nanoclay, where 11%, 5%, and 9% improvement in the compressive strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength, respectively, were observed. Adding nanoclay into cement mortar also leads to increase the amount of water needed to reach the normal consistency, elongate its setting time, increase its water absorption, but reduce its capillary water absorption coefficient and lower flowability of the pastes. SEM imaging showed a reasonable level of dispersion of nanoclay within the mortar.
Saleh, Ahmad M,Fooladi, Marjaneh M,Petro-Nustas, Wasileh,Dweik, Ghadeer,Abuadas, Mohammad H Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.16
Background: Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men globally, constituting the sixth leading cause of cancer related death in males, and the eleventh leading cause of death from cancer in all age groups. In Jordan, prostate cancer is the third most common cancer in the male population, accounting for one third (6.2%) of cancer related deaths and in 2010 alone, 218 (9.4%) new cases were identified. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of different health education interventions aimed at enhancing knowledge, beliefs and intention to screen for prostate cancer. Materials and Methods: A literature search from January 2000 to April 2015 was conducted using the key words "prostate disease," "educational program," "knowledge," "prostate cancer," "demographic factors and prostate cancer," "knowledge and prostate cancer," "education for patients with prostate cancer," "factors that affect intention to screen," "knowledge, beliefs, and intention to screen for prostate cancer," "impact of prostate educational program on beliefs," and "impact of educational program on intention to screen." Results: Majority of studies reviewed indicated that men had low levels of knowledge regarding prostate cancer, and mild to moderate beliefs with good intention to screen for prostate cancer. Conclusions: Most studies indicated that men's knowledge levels about prostate cancer were poor and they had mild to moderate beliefs and intentions to screen for prostate cancer. Therefore, development of an assessment strategy based on the Health Belief Model seems essential. An effectively designed and implemented educational program can help identify the needs and priorities of the target population.
Audit Quality and Stock Price Synchronicity: Evidence from Emerging Stock Markets
ALMAHARMEH, Mohammad I.,SHEHADEH, Ali A.,ISKANDRANI, Majd,SALEH, Mohammad H. Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.3
This research examines the impact of audit quality on the extent to which firm-specific information is integrated with a firm's share price - which is determined inversely using stock price synchronicity. The study sample consists of non-financial companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange i.e., the Jordanian Stock Market, from 2014-2018. After examining 810 firm-year observations from Jordanian industrial companies listed on the ASE, during the study period, we find that the companies using one of the BIG4 audit firms for auditing have less synchronous and more informative stock prices, suggesting high-quality audit improved governance and reduce information asymmetry between firms' insiders and investors which enhances the capitalization of firm's specific information into the stock price, thus less synchronous and more informative stock return. The findings remain consistent over 2 separate measurements of stock price synchronicity (Market and Industry model and Market Model) and show robustness for fixed effect tests. Our multivariate regression results are also robust after controlling for a number of features at the firm level with potential associations with stock price synchronicity. These include the firm size, leverage, return on assets (ROA), and market to book value (MBV).
Determination of buildup factors for some human tissues using both MCNP5 and Phy-X / PSD
Alda'ajeh Mohammad M.,Sharaf J.M.,Saleh H.H.,Hamideen Mefleh S. 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.12
In this article, Exposure Buildup Factor(EBF) and the Energy Absorption Buildup Factor(EABF) have been determined for blood, brain, and muscle using the Monte Carlo method which is represented by MCNP5 codes and compared with geometric progression(G-P) fitting method which is represented by Phy-X/PSD online platform. The novelty of the present work is used an energy source of less than 0.1 MeV to determine buildup factors using MCNP5 and using Phy-X/PSD for some human tissues. thus, the energy range used in this case study was 0.06–3 MeV for penetration depths covered 0.5–3 MFP. Results of MCNP5 and Phy-X/PSD are validated against reference values of water that were reported at ANS-6.4.3. present results of EABFs and EBFs for the previously mentioned human tissues appeared good agreement between MCNP5 in comparison with Phy-X/PSD, whereas, the maximum average relative deviation did not exceed 2.37%. results of our article can be used in different medical applications, such as brachytherapy, radiotherapy, and diagnostics
Modeling and Forecasting Saudi Stock Market Volatility Using Wavelet Methods
Tariq S. ALSHAMMARI,Mohd T. ISMAIL,Sadam AL-WADI,Mohammad H. SALEH,Jamil J. JABER 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11
This empirical research aims to modeling and improving the forecasting accuracy of the volatility pattern by employing the Saudi Arabia stock market (Tadawul)by studying daily closed price index data from October 2011 to December 2019 with a number of observations being 2048. In order to achieve significant results, this study employs many mathematical functions which are non-linear spectral model Maximum overlapping Discrete Wavelet Transform (MODWT) based on the best localized function (Bl14), autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) models. Therefore, the major findings of this study show that all the previous events during the mentioned period of time will be explained and a new forecasting model will be suggested by combining the best MODWT function (Bl14 function) and the fitted GARCH model. Therefore, the results show that the ability of MODWT in decomposition the stock market data, highlighting the significant events which have the most highly volatile data and improving the forecasting accuracy will be showed based on some mathematical criteria such as Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Absolute Scaled Error (MASE), Root Means Squared Error (RMSE), Akaike information criterion. These results will be implemented using MATLAB software and R- software.
