        This study was carried out to find the factors associated with relapse of smoking in mail workers. The data were obtained from 513 workers of an electronics industries in October 2002 about nicotine dependence, withdrawal symptom, and knowledge for smoking. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Amount and duration of smoking, irregular eating and non-exercise were higher in re-smokers. 2. The rate of high nicotine dependency and craving for smoking was increased in re-smoker. 3. Mean of quitting trial was 2.39 in ex-smokers and 2.17 in re-smokers, the duration of first quitting were 10.43 days in ex-smokers and 3.73 days in re-smokers. 4. The top reason for re-smoking was 'job-stress' in ex-smokers and re-smokers. 5. The mean score of knowledge about smoking was 7.88 in ex-smokers and 7.83 in re-smokers. 6. The more nicotine dependency increased, the more withdrawal symptom becomes. And increased withdrawal symptoms are correlated with frequency of quitting trial positively. In conclusion, it was suggested that factors of re-smoking were job-stress and nicotine dependency. Therefore comprehensive smoking cessation program including stress management and nicotine replace therapy was needed.

        Cryptanalysis of Hu-Niu-Yang's Multi-server Password Authenticated Key Agreement Schemes Using Smart Card

        Multi-server password authentication schemes enable remote users to obtain service from multiple servers with single password without separately registering to each server. In 2007, Hu-Niu-Yang proposed an improved efficient password authenticated key agreement scheme for multi-server architecture based on Chang-Lee's scheme proposed in 2004. This scheme is claimed to be more efficient and is able to overcome a few existing deficiencies in Chang-Lee's scheme. However, we find false claim of forward secrecy property and some potential threats such as offline dictionary attack, key-compromise attack, and poor reparability in their scheme. In this paper, we will discuss these issues in depth.

        Effect of surface pretreatment in the thermal atomic layer deposition of Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>for passivation of crystal Si solar cells

        <P>H2O or NH4OH (5%) precursor pretreatment in the chamber was carried out before the thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) of an Al2O3 passivation layer on p-type crystal Si. It was found that the density of negative oxide fixed charges significantly increased, the Al-O combination at the interface changed, the Al/O atomic at the interface of Al2O3/Si decreased, and the effective lifetime increased. The pretreated samples with changes in the Al-O structure at the interface, which made the interface more oxygen-rich, were believed to be the reason for the improvement of the field effect passivation in Al2O3 passivated crystal Si solar cell applications.         Short Communication : Anti-bacterial and Anti-viral Activities of Extracts from Terminalia chebula Barks

        Effects of methanol extract of Terminalia chebula on antibacterial activity and the generation of superoxide radical in Bacillus subtilis, as well as on syncytium formation and cytopathic activity in virus-infected baby hamster kidney cells were examined. The extract effectively inhibited syncytium formation in a concentration-dependent manner, and infectious virus production was markedly reduced. However, glycoprotein synthesis was not affected. These results collectively indicate that methanol extract of T. chebula potentially inhibit glycosylation by acting as a suppressor of intracellular glycosylation trafficking.

      • The Insecurity of Wang-Cao's Certificate-Based Authenticated Key Agreement Protocol

        Key agreement protocol is crucial in providing data confidentiality and integrity to subsequent communications among two or more parties over a public network. In 2007, Wang-Cao have proposed an escrow-free certificate-based authenticated key agreement protocol and claimed it to be secure. However, we discover that their protocol does not satisfy an important security feature that is the known session-specific temporary information security. In this paper, we discuss this problem in depth and propose a slight modification to their original scheme in order to satisfy the missing security property.

        Isolated and Complex Scimitar Vein Anomalies and Their Differentiation from the Meandering Right Pulmonary Vein

        Purpose: Four pediatric patients with isolated (the adult form) and complex (the infantile form) scimitar vein anomalies were reviewed and compared with patients with meandering right pulmonary veins. Materials and Methods: From January 1990 to December 2006, 4 female patients, aged 2 days to 3.5 years, with isolated and complex scimitar vein anomalies were retrospectively studied. The clinical features, chest radiographs, echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance angiography, computer tomography, bronchography, cardiac catheterization with angiography, surgery, and autopsy were reviewed to substantiate the diagnosis of isolated and complex scimitar vein anomalies. Results: Clinical manifestations were lung infections with radiographic scimitar signs in 4 patients (3 right; 1 left), respiratory distress, congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and/or cyanosis in 3 patients, dextrocardia, heterotaxy, and/or right atrial isomerism in 2 patients, as well as dextroversion, right bronchial isomerism, bronchial stenosis, and/or sepsis in 1 patient. Two patients with right atrial isomerism expired. Conclusion: The clinical discrimination between scimitar vein anomaly with and without cardiovascular and bronchopulmonary malformations is crucial for the outcomes vary.

        Efficient, long-life and Lambertian source of top-emitting white OLEDs using low-reflectivity molybdenum anode and co-doping technology

        A top-emitting white organic electroluminescent device (TWOLED) established on low-reflectivity molybdenum (Mo) anode (R~58% in visible range) for alleviating the undesirable microcavity effect and achieving broad as well as similar emission spectra at different viewing angles has been demonstrated based on a dual-layer emitter composed of doped blue and yellow dopant in the same blue host. The electroluminescent (EL) efficiency and operational lifetime of TWOLED can be further enhanced by a factor of 1.2 and 3.4, respectively, when a co-doping technology of adding another blue dopant into the yellow emitter was incorporated. The enhanced efficiency is attributed to the improved energy transfer from blue host to yellow dopant by cascade process.         Bimodal Interaction of Mammalian Polo-Like Kinase 1 and a Centrosomal Scaffold, Cep192, in the Regulation of Bipolar Spindle Formation

        <P>Serving as microtubule-organizing centers, centrosomes play a key role in forming bipolar spindles. The mechanism of how centrosomes promote bipolar spindle assembly in various organisms remains largely unknown. A recent study with <I>Xenopus laevis</I> egg extracts suggested that the Plk1 ortholog Plx1 interacts with the phospho-T46 (p-T46) motif of <I>Xenopus</I> Cep192 (xCep192) to form an xCep192-mediated xAurA-Plx1 cascade that is critical for bipolar spindle formation. Here, we demonstrated that in cultured human cells, Cep192 recruits AurA and Plk1 in a cooperative manner, and this event is important for the reciprocal activation of AurA and Plk1. Strikingly, Plk1 interacted with Cep192 through either the p-T44 (analogous to <I>Xenopus</I> p-T46) or the newly identified p-S995 motif via its C-terminal noncatalytic polo-box domain. The interaction between Plk1 and the p-T44 motif was prevalent in the presence of Cep192-bound AurA, whereas the interaction of Plk1 with the p-T995 motif was preferred in the absence of AurA binding. Notably, the loss of p-T44- and p-S995-dependent Cep192-Plk1 interactions induced an additive defect in recruiting Plk1 and γ-tubulin to centrosomes, which ultimately led to a failure in proper bipolar spindle formation and mitotic progression. Thus, we propose that Plk1 promotes centrosome-based bipolar spindle formation by forming two functionally nonredundant complexes with Cep192.</P>

        Outcomes in Neonates with Pulmonary Atresia and Intact Ventricular Septum Underwent Pulmonary Valvulotomy and Valvuloplasty Using a Flexible 2-French Radiofrequency Catheter

        Purpose : Outcomes in 6 neonates with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum (PAIVS) undergoing radiofrequency pulmonary valvulotomy and valvuloplasty (RPVV) were reported to identify the factors favorable for RPVV as the treatment of choice. Materials and Methods: From May 2000 to January 2008, 6 patients with PAIVS were included in this retrospective study. They were aged 1 day to 90 days old. Study modalities included review of recordings of presentations and profiles of chest radiography, electrocardiography, echocardiography, and cardiac catheterization with angiography. Hemodynamic profiles from the echocardiography and the cardiac catheterization were analyzed. Results: Echocardiography showed severe tricuspid regurgitation, membranous atresia of the pulmonary valve, intact ventricular septum, patent ductus arteriosus, and hypoplastic right ventricle in 6 patients. The pulmonary valve annulus were 4.2 to 6.9 mm in diameters, and those of the tricuspid valve were 7.1 to 10.1 mm. Elevated serum level of cardiac enzymes were found in 1 patient with ventriculocoronary communication (VCC). At cardiac catheterization, the ratio of systolic pressure of the right ventricle to that of the left ventricle ranged from 1.43 to 2.33 before RPVV, and from 0.54 to 1.15 after RPVV (p=0.027). The pressure gradients ranged from 76 to 136 mmHg before RPVV, and from 15 to 39 mmHg after RPVV (p=0.028). The echocardiographic gradients ranged from 16 to 32 mmHg within 24 hours after RPVV, and from 15 to 50 mmHg at the follow-ups. Conclusion: RPVV can be a treatment of choice for neonates with PAIVS, if there is patent infundibulum, no right-ventricular dependent coronary circulation, and adequate tricuspid valve and pulmonary valve.
