Symmetrical Logarithm Transformation Method for Driving Vision Enhancement
Rui Li,Yong Luo 보안공학연구지원센터(IJSIP) 2014 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.7 No.6
Low visibility is the primary cause of the driving accidents. Current image enhancement methods can not effectively improve driving visibility. An image enhancement method based on symmetrical logarithm transformation is proposed to improve this situation. Symmetrical logarithm transformation based on two-scale luminance distribution features is used to obtain an enhanced image. The advantages of proposed method include its self-adaptive ability to varied brightness, low computational complexity and parameter-free input. Experimental results show that the performance of proposed method is more robust and effective than that of other state-of-the-art image enhancement methods.

We have found that the previously uncharacterized bone morphogenetic protein-9 (BMP9) is one of the most osteogenic factors. However, it is unclear if BMP9 cross-talks with TGFβ1 during osteogenic differentiation. Using the recombinant BMP9 adenovirus, we find that low concentration of rhTGFβ1 synergistically induces alkaline phosphatase activity in BMP9-transduced C3H10T1/2 cells and produces more pronounced matrix mineralization. However, higher concentrations of TGFβ1 inhibit BMP9-induced osteogenic activity. Real-time PCR and Western blotting indicate that BMP9 in combination with low dose of TGFβ1 potentiates the expression of later osteogenic markers osteopontin, osteocalcin and collagen type 1 (COL1a2), while higher concentrations of TGFβ1 decrease the expression of osteopontin and osteocalcin but not COL1a2. Cell cycle analysis reveals that TGFβ1 inhibits C3H10T1/2 proliferation in BMP9-induced osteogenesis and restricts the cells in G0/G1 phase. Our findings strongly suggest that TGFβ1 may exert a biphasic effect on BMP9-induced osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells. [BMB Reports 2012; 45(9): 509-514]

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most life- and health-threatening malignant diseases worldwide, especially in China. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as important regulators of tumorigenesis and tumor progression. However, the roles and mechanisms of lncRNAs in ESCC require further exploration. Here, in combination with a small interfering RNA (siRNA) library targeting specific lncRNAs, we performed MTS and Transwell assays to screen functional lncRNAs that were overexpressed in ESCC. TMPO-AS1 expression was significantly upregulated in ESCC tumor samples, with higher TMPOAS1 expression positively correlated with shorter overall survival times. In vitro and in vivo functional experiments revealed that TMPO-AS1 promotes the proliferation and metastasis of ESCC cells. Mechanistically, TMPO-AS1 bound to fused in sarcoma (FUS) and recruited p300 to the TMPO promoter, forming biomolecular condensates in situ to activate TMPO transcription in cis by increasing the acetylation of histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27ac). Targeting TMPO-AS1 led to impaired ESCC tumor growth in a patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model. We found that TMPO-AS1 is required for cell proliferation and metastasis in ESCC by promoting the expression of TMPO, and both TMPO-AS1 and TMPO might be potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in ESCC.
Manipulation of microdroplets at a T-junction: Coalescence and scaling law
Rui Ma,Qindan Zhang,Taotao Fu,Chunying Zhu,Kai Wang,Youguang Ma,Guangsheng Luo 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.65 No.-
The manipulation of a droplet at a microfluidic T-junction is achieved via adding reagents into the droplet with the same solution. Three types for droplet coalescence at the T-junction were observed: tail coalescence, slipping coalescence and unsteady coalescence behaviors with a new droplet formation. The final droplet size decreased (increased) with increasing the capillary number when the flow rate of the dispersed (continuous) phase was fixed. The final droplet size increased with increasing the capillary number of the added phase. The correlations for predicting the coalesced droplet size for tail and slipping coalescence were proposed.

According to the China tumor registry 2013 annual report, breast cancer, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer are three common cancers in China nowadays, with high mortality due to the absence of early diagnosis technology. However, proteomics has been widespreadly implanted into every field of life science and medicine as an important part of post-genomics era research. The development of theory and technology in proteomics has provided new ideas and research fields for cancer research. Proteomics can be used not only for elucidating the mechanisms of carcinogenesis focussing on whole proteins of the tissue or cell, but also seeking the biomarkers for diagnosis and therapy of cancer. In this review, we introduce proteomics principles, covering current technology used in exploring early diagnosis biomarkers of breast cancer, lung cancer and ovarian cancer.
CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF AUSTENITIC AND FERRITIC STEELS IN SUPERCRITICAL WATER
Luo, Xin,Tang, Rui,Long, Chongsheng,Miao, Zhi,Peng, Qian,Li, Cong Korean Nuclear Society 2008 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.40 No.2
The general corrosion behavior of austenitic and ferritic steels(316L, 304, N controlled 304L, and 410) in supercritical water is investigated in this paper. After exposure to deaerated supercritical water at $480^{\circ}C$/25 MPa for up to 500 h, the four steels studied were characterized using gravimetry, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM/EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The results show that the 316L steel with a higher Cr and Ni content has the best corrosion-resistance performance among the steels tested. In addition to the oxide layer mixed with $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ and $(Fe,Cr)_{3}O_{4}$ that formed on all the samples, a $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ loose outer layer was observed on the 410 steel. The corrosion mechanism of stainless steels in supercritical water is discussed based on the above results.

One of the most commonly used techniques for purification and eventual dispersion of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is oxidation using strong acid and ultrasonication. Literature review reveals that ultrasonication of varying radiation intensities have been used during the acid oxidation, but few have reported whether ultrasonication of different intensities would have different effects on the structure and properties of SWNTs and how the effects are. An investigation of the effects of ultrasonic radiation intensity on SWNTs during oxidation in a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids was conducted. Ultrasonication using different intensities (50 W, 100 W, 200 W and 300 W) was used. The acid-treated SWNTs were characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential test Boehm titration test and Raman spectrum analysis. Data from these experiments showed that high intensities provided stronger oxidizing conditions than lower ones. As ultrasonic intensity increased, larger number of SWNTs were destroyed and consumed to produce carbonaceous impurities, and more defects appeared in the tube walls.

This paper proposes an Image Texture Median Filter (ITMF) to analyze and detect Android malware on Drebin datasetsMedian Filter (MF) to reflect the similarity of the malware binary file block. At the same time, using the MAEVS (Malware Activity Embedding in Vector Space) to reflect the potential dynamic activity of malware. In order to ensure the improvement of the classification accuracy, the above-mentioned features(ITMF feature and MAEVS feature)are studied to train Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and Back Propagation (BP). The experimental results show that the model has an average accuracy rate of 95.43% 1. We design a model of “ITMF” combined with Image Processing of with few false alarms. to Android malicious code, which is significantly higher than 95.2% of without ITMF, 93.8% of shallow machine learning model SVM, 94.8% of KNN, 94.6% of ANN.
Effects of Phosphorus-dissolving Dark Septate Endophytes on the Growth of Blueberry
Luo Qixin,Hou Rui,Shang Xiaojing,Li Si 한국미생물학회 2023 The journal of microbiology Vol.61 No.9
Dark septate endophytes (DSEs) are widely distributed and improve plant growth. DSEs secrete large amounts of enzymes to mineralize insoluble phosphorus in soil and convert it into soluble phosphorus, promoting plant uptake of phosphorus. However, the effects of DSEs with phosphate-solubilizing ability on host plants need further study. In this study, phosphorusdissolving DSEs were screened for growth-promoting effects. We isolated, identified and characterized three DSE species (Thozetella neonivea, Pezicula ericae and Hyaloscyphaceae sp.) showing phosphate-solubilizing ability. The impact of single, dual or triple inoculation of DSEs on blueberry plant characteristics was studied. Their effects on colonization intensity, seedling biomass, nutrients in plants and soil, and activities of plant resistance enzymes and soil enzymes were markedly upregulated relative to the control (P < 0.05). The available phosphorus and acid phosphatase levels in different combinations were significantly increased. These findings indicate that the application of the three DSEs may be valuable in facilitating the cultivation of blueberry with a higher biomass and improved plant quality.
