This study aims to investigate the structural performance of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) columns (GFRAC columns) under different loading conditions. The structural performance of GFRAC columns is compared with steel rebars reinforced recycled aggregate concrete columns (STRAC columns). Eighteen samples with geometric measurements of 250 mm and 1150 mm for diameter and height, correspondingly, were fabricated including nine samples with GFRP rebars and hoops and nine samples with steel rebars and hoops. The results depicted that the average axial load-carrying capacity of GFRAC columns was 7.8% lesser than that of STRAC columns. The GFRAC columns presented larger deformation capacity indices. Both GFRAC and STRAC columns depicted similar damage behavior and portrayed substantial lessening in the axial load-carrying capacity because of the eccentric loadings. An analytical model for calculating the axial load-carrying capacity of GFRAC columns was proposed based on a large experimental database of GFRP reinforced samples. A close correlation was detected between the testing outcomes and the theoretical estimates for GFRAC columns, which solidly substantiates the accuracy of the proposed model.

Purpose: To determine the efficacy of mitomycin C in reducing the recurrence of anterior urethral stricture after internal optical urethrotomy (IOU). Materials and Methods: This was a randomized controlled trial conducted in the Department of Urology at the Institute of Kidney Diseases Peshawar from March 2011 to December 2013. A total of 151 patients who completed the study were divided into two groups by the lottery method. Group A (cases) comprised 78 patients in whom mitomycin C 0.1% was injected submucosally in the stricture after conventional IOU. Group B (controls) comprised 73 patients in whom IOU only was performed. Self-clean intermittent catheterization was not offered in either group. All patients were regularly followed up for 18 months. Recurrence was diagnosed by use of retrograde urethrogram in all patients and flexible urethroscopy in selected cases. Data were collected on a structured pro forma sheet and were analyzed by SPSS. Results: The mean age of the patients in group A was 37.31±10.1 years and that in group B was 40.1±11.4 years. Recurrence of urethral stricture was recorded in 11 patients (14.1%) in group A and in 27 patients (36.9%) in group B (p=0.002). The mitomycin group also showed a delay in recurrence compared with the control group (p=0.002). Conclusions: Recurrence of urethral stricture is high after optical urethrotomy. Mitomycin C was found to be highly effective in preventing the recurrence of urethral stricture after IOU.
Effects of Incorporating Steel and Glass Fibers on Shear Behavior of Concrete Column-Beam Joints
Liaqat Ali Qureshi,Usman Muhammad 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.22 No.8
This paper presents the effects of adding steel and glass fibers on structural behavior of concrete column-beam joints in comparisonwith the conventional concrete. Nine full-scaled exterior column-beam joints cast by one traditional concrete (declared as controlcolumn-beam joint), four steel fiber reinforced & four glass fiber reinforced concretes were tested under monotonic loading. Percentage of each fiber added in respective column-beam joint was varied from 0 to 2% with an increment of 0.5%. Steel fiberswere added on weighted basis of concrete while glass fibers were added on the weighted percentage of cement. Results wereevaluated with respect to first crack load, ultimate load, deflections and crack patterns. Finite element modeling was carried out onANSYS version 11 by using material properties evaluated by physical testing of concrete used in the casting of joints. Resultsobtained from FEM and experimental program were found to be in good agreement with each other. It was also found that theincorporation of fibers in column-beam joints improved their stiffness, ductility, strength and it could be one of the likely alternateapproaches for reducing the overcrowding of lateral reinforcement in column-beam joints.
On commuting conditions of semirings with involution
Liaqat Ali,Muhammad Aslam,Mawahib Elamin,Huda Uones Mohamed Ahamd,Newma Yahia,Laxmi Rathour 한국전산응용수학회 2024 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.42 No.2
In this research article, we study a class of semirings with involution. Differential identities involving two or three derivations of a semiring with second kind involution are investigated. It is analyzed that how these identities, with a special role for second kind involution, bring commutativity to semirings.
Seismic Vulnerability Assessment of Strengthened Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC)
Liaqat Ali Qureshi,Junaid Ahmad,Hammad Salahuddin 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.21 No.6
This paper presents the effect of using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) as retrofitting material on seismic behavior of Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) and Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). The experimental work was carried out in two steps. In first step, cylindrical specimens of size 150 mm × 300 mm were cast by using both PCC and GFRC. In second step, the specimens were wrapped by CFRP in three different patterns. All the specimens were tested under monotonic compressive loading. The test results were later used in the non-linear static cyclic analysis of reinforced concrete frame modeled in a finite element based analytical tool. Seismic vulnerability assessment was then carried out using a modified capacity spectrum method to develop analytical curves for the frames. The results showed significant improvement in seismic performance of frames strengthened by CFRP. Collapse hazard level for unconfined GFRC structure was increased by 20.73% as compared to unconfined PCC structure. There was 21 to 28% improvement observed in collapse hazard level in confined PCC structures as compared to their unconfined counterparts. However, confinement of GFRC structures resulted in only 8% increase in collapse hazard level as compared to unconfined GFRC structures.
