      • Applicative Value of Serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in Diagnosis and Prognosis for Patients with Pancreatic Cancer Treated by Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy

        Objective: To evaluate the application value of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer cases treated with concurrent chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: 52 patients with pancreatic cancer, 40 with benign pancreatic diseases and 40 healthy people were selected. The electrochemiluminescence immunoassay method was used for detecting levels of CA19-9, CEA and CA125, and a CanAg CA242 enzyme linked immunoassay kit for assessing the level of CA242. The Kaplan-Meier method was used for analyzing the prognostic factors of patients with pancreatic cancer. The Cox proportional hazard model was applied for analyzing the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidential interval (CI) for survival time of patients with pancreatic cancer. Results: The levels of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in patients with pancreatic cancer were significantly higher than those in patients with benign pancreatic diseases and healthy people (P<0.001). The sensitivity of CA19-9 was the highest among these, followed by CA242, CA125 and CEA. The specificity of CA242 is the highest, followed by CA125, CEA and CA19-9. The sensitivity and specificity of joint detection of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125and CA242 were 90.4% and 93.8%, obviously higher than single detection of those markers in diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The median survival time of 52 patients with pancreatic cancer was 10 months (95% CI7.389~12.611).. Patients with the increasing level of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125, CA242 had shorter survival times (P=0.047. 0.043, 0.0041, 0.029). COX regression analysis showed that CA19-9 was an independent prognostic factor for patients with pancreatic cancer (P=0.001, 95%CI 2.591~38.243). Conclusions: The detection of serum tumor markers (CA19.9, CEA, CA125 and CA242) is conducive to the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and joint detection of tumor markers helps improve the diagnostic efficiency. Moreover, CA19-9 is an independent prognostic factor for patients with pancreatic cancer.

        The Effect of Impeller Indent Distance on the Performance of Vortex Pumps

        Low efficiency is an urgent problem to be solved for vortex pumps due to large number of vortices and backflows. This paper concentrates on the performance improvement of vortex pumps caused by changing the indent distance of the impeller. First, a complete numerical model was established by selecting the optimal length of inlet and outlet and appropriate mesh quantity. Then, the reliability of this model was validated by comparing simulation results with experimental data. Based on this model, the internal flows of vortex pumps with different impeller indent distances were observed in simulations and the fitted curves of head and efficiency were created. Finally, the cause of the performance improvement was demonstrated by analyzing the flow field in vortex pumps.

      • An Improved K-means Algorithm based on Mapreduce and Grid

        The traditional K-means clustering algorithm is difficult to initialize the number of clusters K, and the initial cluster centers are selected randomly, this makes the clustering results very unstable. Meanwhile, algorithms are susceptible to noise points. To solve the problems, the traditional K-means algorithm is improved. The improved method is divided into the same grid in space, according to the size of the data point property value and assigns it to the corresponding grid. And count the number of data points in each grid. Selecting M(M>K) grids, comprising the maximum number of data points, and calculate the central point. These M central points as input data, and then to determine the k value based on the clustering results. In the M points, find K points farthest from each other and those K center points as the initial cluster center of K-means clustering algorithm. At the same time, the maximum value in M must be included in K. If the number of data in the grid less than the threshold, then these points will be considered as noise points and be removed. In order to make the improved algorithm can adapt to handle large data. We will parallel the improved k-mean algorithm and combined with the MapReduce framework. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the improved algorithm compared to the traditional K-means clustering algorithm has high quality results, less iteration and has good stability. Parallelized algorithm has a very high efficiency in data processing, and has good scalability and speedup.

        PSR CC/CV AC-DC converter with an adaptive high-precision closed-loop constant current control scheme

        A primary-side regulation (PSR) constant current (CC) output and constant voltage (CV) output AC-DC converter is proposed and an adaptive high-precision closed-loop constant current control scheme is put forward in this paper. In the CC mode, the converter adopts the closed-loop control strategy to realize that the switching period adaptively converges to twice the demagnetization time, which realizes the CC output. In addition, exactly detecting the demagnetization time is a prerequisite for obtaining a high-precision output current. Therefore, a demagnetization time detection circuit is designed to provide accurate and reliable demagnetization information. The control IC was fabricated with the Nuvoton 0.5um BCD process, and a 5 V/2 A prototype circuit was implemented to verify its performance. Experimental results show that the CC deviation is within ± 1.4%, which is lower than the target value of ± 2.0%. Under different loads and AC inputs, the conversion efficiency in the CC mode varies between 76.3% and 80.7%.

        Oceanobacillus manasiensis sp. nov., a Moderately Halophilic Bacterium Isolated from the Salt Lakes of Xinjiang, China

        Three Gram reaction positive, rod-shaped, moderately motile halophilic bacterial strains, designated YD3-56T, YD16, and YH29, were isolated from the sediments of Manasi and Aiding salt lakes in the Xinjiang region of China, respectively. The strains grew optimally at 30-37°C, pH 8-11, in the presence of 5-10% (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that the strains were closely related to members of the genus Oceanobacillus, exhibiting 99.1-99.2% similarity to O. kapialis KCTC 13177T, 99.2-99.3% to O. picturae KCTC 3821T, and 94.2-96% sequence similarity to other described Oceanobacillus species. SDS-PAGE of whole cell proteins preparations demonstrated that the strains exhibited high similarity to each other, but distinguished from O. kapialis KCTC 13177T and O. picturae KCTC 3821T (75%). DNA-DNA hybridization revealed that the similarity between the representative strain YD3-56T and O. kapialis KCTC 13177T was 35.3%, and the similarity between YD3-56T and O. picturae KCTC 3821T was 22.3%. Chemotaxonomic analysis of the strains showed menaquinone-7 was the predominant respiratory quinine. Major cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15:0 and anteiso-C17:0. The polar lipid pattern for strain YD3-56T predominantly contained phosphatidylcholine, and trace to moderate amounts of phosphatidyl ethanolamine and hydroxy-phosphatidyl ethanolamine. The diamino acid in murein was meso-diaminopimelic acid. The DNA G+C content of the strains was 39.7-40.1 mol%. On the basis of these results, the three strains should be classified as a novel species of the genus Oceanobacillus, for which the name Oceanobacillus manasiensis sp. nov. has been proposed, with the type strain as YD3-56T (=CGMCC 1.9105T =NBRC 105903T).

        Oxymatrine Causes Hepatotoxicity by Promoting the Phosphorylation of JNK and Induction of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Mediated by ROS in LO2 Cells

        Oxymatrine (OMT) often used in treatment for chronic hepatitis B virus infection in clinic. However, OMT-induced liver injury has been reported. In this study, we aim to investigate the possible mechanism of OMT-induced hepatotoxicity in human normal liver cells (L02). Exposed cells to OMT, the cell viability was decreased and apoptosis rate increased, the intracellular markers of oxidative stress were changed. Simultaneously, OMT altered apoptotic related proteins levels, including Bcl-2, Bax and pro-caspase-8/-9/-3. In addition, OMT enhanced the protein levels of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress makers (GRP78/Bip, CHOP, and cleaved-Caspase-4) and phosphorylation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK), as well as the mRNA levels of GRP78/Bip, CHOP, caspase-4, and ER stress sensors (IREI, ATF6, and PERK). Pre-treatment with Z-VAD-fmk, JNK inhibitor SP600125 and N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC), a ROS scavenger, partly improved the survival rates and restored OMT-induced cellular damage, and reduced caspase-3 cleavage. SP600125 or NAC reduced OMT-induced p-JNK and NAC significantly lowered caspase-4. Furthermore, 4-PBA, the ER stress inhibitor, weakened inhibitory effect of OMT on cells, on the contrary, TM worsen. 4-PBA also reduced the levels of p-JNK and cleaved-caspase-3 proteins. Therefore, OMT-induced injury in L02 cells was related to ROS mediated p-JNK and ER stress induction. Antioxidant, by inhibition of p-JNK or ER stress, may be a feasible method to alleviate OMT-induced liver injury.

      • An Efficient Implementation of Tornado Code for Fault Tolerance

        This paper presents the implementation procedure of encoding and decoding algorithms for Tornado code that can provide fault tolerance for storage and transmission system. The degree distribution satisfying heavy tail distribution is produced. Based on this distribution, a good random irregular bipartite graph is attained after plenty of trails. Such graph construction is proved to be efficient, and the experiments also demonstrate that the implementation obtains good performance in terms of decoding overhead.

        A Trellis-based Technique for Blind Channel Estimation and Equalization

        In this paper, we present a trellis-based blind channel estimation and equalization technique coupling two kinds of adaptive Viterbi algorithms. First, the initial blind channel estimation is accomplished by incorporating the list parallel Viterbi algorithm with the least mean square (LMS) updating approach. In this operation, multiple trellis mappings are preserved simultaneously and ranked in terms of path metrics. Equivalently, multiple channel estimates are maintained and updated once a single symbol is received. Second, the best channel estimate from the above operation will be adopted to set up the whole trellis. The conventional adaptive Viterbi algorithm is then applied to detect the signal and further update the channel estimate alternately. A small delay is introduced for the symbol detection and the decision feedback to smooth the noise impact. An automatic switch between the above two operations is also proposed by exploiting the evolution of path metrics and the linear constraint inherent in the trellis mapping. Simulation has shown an overall excellent performance of the proposed scheme in terms of mean square error (MSE) for channel estimation, robustness to the initial channel guess, computational complexity, and channel equalization.

        Impact of Size on Humidity Sensing Property of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles

        Three sizes of CuO nanosheets were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The structure and morphology of CuO nanosheets were characterized by X-ray difraction and scanning electron microscopy. Dielectrophoresis nano-manipulation technique was employed to arrange the materials on pre-designed Ti/Au electrodes to fabricate the three humidity sensors, and the sensing properties were then tested. The experimental results show that the sensitivity greatly increases with the decreasing size of CuO nanosheets, the sensitivity of sensor a, b, c are 369%, 3278%, 22,611% in 97.3% RH, respectively. The smaller sized CuO nanomaterials have better response characteristic, the response time of sensor a, b, c under 11.3–97.3% RH are 53 s, 49 s, 32 s, respectively. And correspondingly, hysteresis properties and the repeatability are also a little infuenced. In addition, based on complex impedance spectroscopy and multilayer adsorption theory, the impact of size on humidity sensing property was discussed. The results indicated the feasibility to obtain higher performance of humidity sensor, especially the higher sensitivity, via employment the smaller size sensing nanomaterials.
