Realization of time-constraint video transmission under time-varying wireless channels is still a quite tough task. In this paper, a transmission loss control module in real-time video streaming system based on H.264 state-ofthe-art video coding standard is designed and implemented. The adaptive transmission-error control (ATEC) consists of packet-level forward error correction (FEC), delayconstrained ARQ, packet interleaving, and adaptation algorithm for channel condition estimation. The ATEC is embodied and tested as three components: server module, client module, wireless channel emulator using NIST Net developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). proposed ATEC adaptively changes the FEC rate and interleaving depth, in accordance with currently estimated channel error rate and the round-trip-time, so that better error correction performance can be achieved with lower redundancy.
