The cutting tests of wood patterns are carried out using CNC milling machine. The cutting forces and surface characteristics of machined surface are investigated at various cutting conditions such as spindle speed, feed speed, cutting direction of wood pattern and wood material. In the CNC end-milling, the surface roughness increases as feed speed increases and decreases as spindle speed increases. However, the cutting force and surface roughness are different along the cutting direction and material of wood pattern.

<P>We examined the infiltration pattern of water in a regolith–bedrock profile consisting of two overburdens (OB1 and OB2), a buried rice paddy soil (PS), two texturally distinctive weathered materials (WM1 and WM2) and a fractured sedimentary rock (BR), using a Brilliant Blue FCF dye tracer. A black-coloured coating in conducting fractures in WM1, WM2 and BR was analysed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The dye tracer penetrated to greater than 2 m depth in the profile. The macropore flow and saturated interflow were the major infiltration patterns in the profile. Macropore flow and saturated interflow were observed along fractures in WM1, WM2 and BR and at the dipping interfaces of PS–WM1, PS–WM2 and PS–BR respectively. Heterogeneous matrix flow occurred in upper overburden (OB1) and PS. Compared with OB1, the coarser textured OB2 acted as a physical barrier for vertical flow of water. The PS with low bulk density and many fine roots was another major conducting route of water in the profile. Manganese oxide and iron oxide were positively identified in the black coating material and had low crystallinity and high surface area, indicating their high reactivity with conducting contaminants. Effect of mining and geology on the chemistry of stream water and sediment in a small watershed

Chemical characteristics of the stream water and sediment in the small watershed with two distinctive mineralization zones (Cu and Pb-Zn), 7 abandoned mines and an active quarry were investigated to examine the effects of mining activity and regional geology on the chemistry. The stream water affected by the abandoned mines had Ca-SO4 type but the other had Ca-HCO3 type. The mine affected stream water and sediment showed relatively high concentrations of metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Co, Ni, Mn, Al and Fe). The concentrations of Al, Mn, Fe and Cu of the stream water collected near an abandoned mine (Guryong) exceeded the EPA surface water quality standards (Al: 5.52 mg L-1, Mn: 1.58 mg L-1, Fe: 1.49 mg L-1, Cu: 0.63 mg L-1). The effect of mining activity on the stream water chemistry was attenuated in a relatively short distance from the source (< 200 m) along the watercourse but the signature in the sediment showed a longer lasting effect (about 2 km) than that in the stream water. The residual and reducible forms were the dominant fractions of the heavy metals in the stream sediment. The particulate transportation was the major cause of the dispersion of heavy metals in the watershed. There was a contrasting spatial distribution of background metal concentration in the stream sediment: a relatively higher concentration of Cu in the Cu mineralization zone and a relatively higher concentration of Pb, Zn and Mn in the Pb-Zn mineralization zone.
텍스쳐의 방향 성분과 웨이블릿을 이용한 내용 기반 검색

현재 내용 기반 검색에 대해서 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 내용기반 검색 방법 중에서 영상의 방향 성분을 이용한 텍스쳐 영상 검색 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 검색 방법은 웨이블릿(Wavelet) 변환 후에 생기는 고대역 부밴드들의 Energy 값들을 가지고 텍스쳐 영상의 방향 성분을 구한 다음에, 방향 성분에 따른 고대역 부밴드의 Energy와 저대역 부밴드의 GLCM(Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix) Energy 값을 가지고 텍스쳐 영상을 검색하도록 하는 방식으로, 실험을 통해서 검색시 좋은 결과를 보여주는 것을 알 수 있었다.
MPEG - 7에 기반한 동영상 검색 시스템 인덱스 기법

MPEG-7은 XML을 이용하여 사용자가 원하는 내용을 검색하고 브라우징할 수 있도록 하는 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 다양한 정보를 기술하고 있다. 그러나 많은 부분으로 나누어진 세부화된 장면들을 찾는 질의가 주어졌을 때 원하는 정보를 찾기 위하여 모든 문서의 내용을 검색하는 것은 상당한 시간이 요구되며, 일반적인 XML 문서의 인덱싱 기법을 적용할 경우 MPEG-7의 관점에서 부합되지 않은 점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 개선하기 위하여 MPEG-7 문서의 구조적인 정보를 기반으로 하는 인덱싱 기법을 제안하고 질의를 하여 동영상내의 원하는 부분을 효율적으로 찾는 방법을 보인다.

Chemical composition of barley leaves of four varieties (Olbori, Suwon 298, Suwon 311 and Milyang 60) grown under the same environmental conditions at the same location was investigated. Barley leaf samples were collected on two weeks before heading period. The barley leaves contained 25∼29% crude protein, 9.3∼9.9% crude lipid, 9.3∼11.2% ash, 1.3∼1.8% β-glucan on dry matter basis. Chlorophyll contents of Olbori, Suwon 298, Suwon 311 and Milyang 60 were 951 ㎎%, 885 ㎎%, 866 ㎎%, 826 ㎎%, respectively. Mineral contents of barley leaves were not significantly different each other and potassium content was found to be the highest among all the minerals observed. Vitamin C contents of Olbori, Suwon 298, Suwon 311 and Milyang 60 were 328 ㎎%, 266 ㎎%. 278 ㎎% and 269 ㎎%, respectively. Free sugar contents of barley leaves were somewhat different and the glucose content was the highest among the free sugars, ranging from 5.70% to 8.35%. Besides glucose, fructose, sucrose and raffinose contents were also relatively higher than the other free sugars. In other oligosaccharides, 1-kestose(GF₂) content was between 0.26% and 0.39% and a slight amount of 1-nystose(GF₃) was also detected. Although aspartic acid, glutamic acid and serine were relatively higher content than the other free amino acids, the values were not consistent in different varieties.
