A Case of Keratosis Punctata Palmaris et Plantaris

We report a rare case of sporadic keratosis punctata palmaris et plantaris in a 49-year-old woman. Thirty years ago, firm semitranslucent papules developed on the middle portion of her palms without any subjective symptom. The lesions had flat-topped smooth surfaces. They were concentrated along the margins of the hands, especially on the lateral surfaces of both index fingers and finger tips. Ten years ago, similar hyperkeratotic papules with or without central craters developed on the weight bearing portions of her soles. Her family and past histories were negative. The biopsy specimen revealed a dense hyperkeratotic stratum corneum which fitted into a cup shaped depression in the stratum malpighii and a turning inward of the rete ridges at the margin. The Masson trichrome and elastic stains showed no specific dermal changes.

<P> This paper presents a new material nonlinear analysis algorithm which utilizes equivalent load for stiffness. The proposed algorithm requires calculation of the inverse of the global stiffness matrix only once regardless of the loading steps and provides the same results as those by the conventional method. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm depends on the ratio of the boundary DOFs - the DOFs directly connected to the elements where stiffness changed - to the total DOFs. If the number of boundary DOFs is less than about 1/8 of the band width of the global stiffness matrix the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the conventional method. The analysis results of the model structure showed that the linear analysis of a structure using the proposed algorithm produced identical responses as those by conventional plastic hinge analysis method. </P>

This paper describes about the development of an building safety management system. The working process for the building safety management is analyzed and a process model is formalized. According to the analysis result, the information related to the safety management is analyzed and an integrated database is designed. It is implemented in the relational database framework. Then, the safety management system has been developed. It has three major functions which are the safety information managment, the site inspection, and the evaluation of buildings based on the history information and the site inspection result. It manages all the information related to the safety management throughout structural design step, construction step, building usage and maintenance step, and structural inspection job. If the final system is developed successfully, it is expected that the structural inspection and assessment work will be done more systematically and consistently and the quality and productivity of them will be improved.
