        물질주의가 과시소비, 충동구매와 삶의 만족 및 부정적 감정에 미치는 영향

        [연구목적] 물질주의의 부정적인 영향에 대한 선행연구들은 이루어져 왔지만, 물질주의가 과시소비 및 충동구매에 영향을 미치고 이러한 비합리적인 소비가 삶의 만족 및 부정적 감정에 미치는 전체 변수들 간의 연구는 전무했기에 본 연구에서 이러한 관계들이 동시에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. [연구방법] 본 연구는 자료 분석을 위해 신뢰도분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 후 측정모델의 적합도를 평가하였고, 이를 바탕으로 측정모형과 구조모델을 동시에 측정하는 구조방정식 검증을 실시하였다. [연구결과] 본 연구를 통한 결과는 다음과 같다. 물질주의가 높을수록 과시소비와 충동구매를 더 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 과시소비 성향이 높을수록 삶의 만족도는 낮아지며, 부정적 감정은 높았다. 마지막으로 충동구매 성향이 높을수록 부정적 감정은 높았지만, 삶의 만족도에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. [연구의 시사점] 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 청소년들의 올바른 가치관과 소비 형태를 정립할 수 있는 교육 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이라 본다. 그리고 물질주의를 통한 올바르지 못한 구매들이 부정적인 감정을 높이고 삶의 만족을 떨어뜨릴 수 있음을 공익광고를 통해 건전한 인식 전환을 시도해 볼 수 있을 것이며, 구매 후에 느낄 수 있는 부정적 감정들에 대해서는 과시를 통한 우월감, 만족감으로 대신하거나, 실용적인 측면들을 내세워 소비에 대한 정당성을 확보하여 부정적 감정들을 완화 시킬 수 있을 것으로 본다. [Purpose] Previous studies on the negative effects of materialism have been carried out, there has been no study of materialism’s effects on conspicuous consumption and impulse buying nor the study of entire variables between the effects of irrational consumption and satisfaction with life and negative emotions. In this context, this study examines the simultaneous effects of the relationships. [Methodology] This study evaluated the measuring model’s fitness after performing a reliability analysis, an exploratory factor analysis, and a confirmatory factor analysis. Based on this, the verification of the structural equation model simultaneously measuring the measuring model and the structural model was performed. [Findings] The results of this study are as follows: As materialism was higher, conspicuous consumption and impulse buying were higher. As conspicuous consumption was higher, satisfaction with life became lower but negative emotions were higher. Lastly, as the impulse buying disposition was higher, negative emotions were higher, but it did not affect satisfaction with life. [Implications] The result of this study can be used for educational data to establish adolescents’ proper values and behavioral patterns. A sound awareness shift that improper buying can elevate negative emotions and lower satisfaction with life can be attempted through public service advertisement. Negative emotions can be eased by securing legitimacy on consumption by replacing negative emotions with sense of superiority and satisfaction or by presenting the practical aspect.

        Investigation of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Porcine Candidate Genes for Economic Traits in the Commercial Pig Breed

        돼지 2번 염색체의 육질 관련 양적 경제형질에 관한 연구보고가 몇몇 이루어 지고 있다. 양돈업계에서 DNA 기술을 이용한 염색체 정보를 활용하기 위해 본 연구에서는 13개의 후보 유전자에서 생성된 중합효소연쇄반응(PCR) 생성물을 비교 재서열 함으로써 단일염기변이(SNP) 표지들을 개발했다. 11개의 중합효소연쇄반응 생성물에서 296 bp마다 에서 평균 하나의 SNP, 총 34개의 SNP를 발견하였다. 또한 11개의 SNP에 대해 PCR 제한효소 길이 절편길이 다형성(RFLP) 분석을 전개한 후, 이를 대한민국 상업돈 4품종 개체군의 유전자형을 분석하는데 활용하였다. 본 연구는 유용한 단일염기변이를 식별하고 돼지 개체군 내 경제적으로 중요한 특성들과 SNP의 연관성을 확인하는 데 그 목적이 있다. Several studies reported quantitative trait loci (QTL) for meat quality on porcine chromosome 2. For application of the chromosomal information to pig industry through using DNA technology, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers are developed by comparative re-sequencing of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of 13 candidate genes. A total of 34 SNPs were identified in 11 PCR products, an average of one SNP in every 296 bp.PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) assays were developed for 11 SNPs and used to genotype four commercial pig populations in Korea. The SNP markers were used to map candidate genes in QTL and to clarify the relevance of SNP and quantitative traits.

        The Anti-Fibrogenic Effect of a Pharmaceutical Composition of[5-(2-Pyrazinyl)-4-methyl-1,2-dithiol-3-thione] (Oltipraz) and Dimethyl-4,4′-dimethoxy-5,6,5′,6′-dimethylene dioxybiphenyl-2,2′-dicarboxylate (DDB)

        Liver fibrosis is a prepathological state wherein damaged liver tissues in chronic liver diseases, such as hepatitis, are not repaired to normal tissues, but converted to fibrous tissue. 5-(2-Pyrazinyl)-4-methyl-1,2-dithiol-3-thione (oltipraz), a cancer chemopreventive agent, is effective against a wide variety of chemical carcinogens. Recently, we reported that oltipraz inhibits liver fibrogenesis (Kang et al., 2002). In the present study, the effects of oltipraz in combination with dimethyl-4,4'-dimethoxy-5,6,5',6'-dimethylene dioxybiphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate (DDb) on dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced liver fibrogenesis were assessed in rats. Oltipraz (30 mg/kg body weight, po, 3 times per week for 4 weeks) was found to inhibit the increases in plasma ALT, AST and bilirubin by DMN, whereas DDB (30 mg/kg body weight, po, 3 times per week for 4 weeks) attenuated the increases in the plasma ALT and bilirubin. The lowered plasma protein and albumin contents in DMN-treated rats were completely restored by oltipraz, but not by DDB. DDB decreases liver cell injury and inflammation through inhibition of nuclear factor-kB. DMN increased the accumulation of liver collagen, as indicated by the increase in the 4-hydroxyproline content in liver homogenates, which was reduced by treatment with oltipraz, but not by DDB. Given the differential effect between oltipraz and DDB, the potential enhancement of antifibrotic efficacy by the drugs was assessed in the animal model. Despite the minimal effect of DDB on DMN-induced fibrogenesis, DDB (5-25 mg/kg), administered together with oltipraz (25-5 mg/kg), showed an additive protective effect against hepatotoxicity and fibrosis induced by DMN, which was shown by the blood chemistry parameters and histopathological analysis. The adequate composition ratio of oltipraz to DDB was 5:1. These results provide information on the pharmaceutical composition, comprising of oltipraz and DDB as the active components, for the treatment and/or prevention of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.

        Backbone NMR assignments of the FAS1-3/FAS1-4 domains of transforming growth factor-beta-induced protein

        An extracellular matrix protein, transforming growth factor-beta-induced protein (TGFBIp/βig-h3), which is induced by transforming growth factor-β in the human cornea, skin, and matrix of many connective tissues, is associated with the adhesion, migration, proliferation, and differentiation of various cells. TGFBIp contains four homologous repeat domains, known as FAS1 domains, where certain mutations have been considered to cause corneal dystrophies. In this study, backbone NMR assignments of FAS1-3/FAS1-4 tandem domain were obtained and compared with those previously known for the isolated FAS1-4 domain. The results corroborate in solution the inter-domain interaction between FAS1-3 and FAS1-4 in TGFBIp.

        Effects of Helicobacter pylori Infection on Gastric Mucin Expression

        AIMS: This study was performed to determine the gastric distributions of MUC5AC and MUC6 depending on Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, and to evaluate whether the expressions of MUC5 and MUC6 change in H. pylori-associated gastroduodenal diseases. In addition, MUC5AC and MUC6 expressional changes were investigated before and after H. pylori eradication. METHODS: In the 224 individuals (136 H. pylori-positive and 88 H. pylori-negative) who came from control (N=48), duodenal ulcer (N=35), benign gastric ulcer (N=61), dysplasia plus stomach cancer (N=80) groups, MUC5AC and MUC6 expressions were determined by immunohistochemical staining in the antrum and body, respectively. This staining for MUC5AC and MUC6 were reperformed in 113 of the 136 H. pylori-positive patients after successful H. pylori eradication by proton pump inhibitor-based triple therapy. RESULTS: (1) No difference was found between the H. pylori-positive and negative groups in terms of MUC5AC expression. In contrast, MUC6 expression was significantly lower in the H. pylori-positive group than in the H. pylori-negative group in the gastric body. Moreover, reduced MUC6 expression increased to the H. pylori-negative level after eradication. (2) Expressions of MUC5AC and MUC6 were significantly lower in the dysplasia plus cancer group than those of control in case of H. pylori positive. Similarly, MUC5AC and MUC6 expressions were significantly lower in the presence of atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia in case of H. pylori positive. (3) Aberrant expressions of MUC6 in foveolar cells were observed in both antrum (11.3%) and body (5.3%) only in the H. pylori-positive group, but this reverted to normal after H. pylori eradication. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that H. pylori infection causes alterations of mucin expression, closely related with the development of gastric atrophy with intestinal metaplasia, probably contributing to carcinogenesis.

      • Modification of dendritic cells with interferon-γ-inducible protein-10 gene to enhance vaccine potency

        <B>Background</B><P>Dendritic cell (DC)-based vaccines have become a promising modality in cancer immunotherapy. However, their ability to initiate tumor antigen-specific T cell immunity is limited in various negative-feedback mechanisms. The rapid down-regulation of chemokines, such as the interferon inducible protein of 10 kDa (IP-10), which chemoattracts activated antigen-specific CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells, would represent negative-feedback regulation. Therefore, we attempted to improve DC vaccine potency by introducing the IP-10 gene retrovirally aiming to replenish the chemoattractive activity of DCs.</P><B>Methods</B><P>We introduced IP-10 gene into DC2.4 cells, referred to as DC-IP10, using a retroviral system. Nonsecretable mIP-10-expressing DCs (DC-mIP10) were also prepared to evaluate the effects of secretion in IP-10-mediated modulation of DC biology. Additionally, in vitro and in vivo activation of antigen-specific T lymphocytes and in vivo anti-tumor effects induced by DC-IP10 or DC-mIP10 were determined.</P><B>Results</B><P>The modification of DC2.4 cells with the IP-10 gene resulted in the secretion of functionally chemoattractive IP-10 and, unexpectedly, a significant up-regulation of surface expression in co-stimulatory molecules, such as CD40 and CD80, compared to that of DCs with vector control (DC-no insert). DC-mIP10 also displayed the partially matured phenotypes but failed to recruit antigen-specific T cells in an in vitro cell culture system. Consistently, DC-IP10 generated more tumor antigen-specific CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells and stronger anti-tumor effects in vaccinated mice than did control DCs and DC-mIP10.</P><B>Conclusions</B><P>The results obtained provide the groundwork for a future clinical translation of the chemokine-based genetic modification of DCs to increase their vaccine potency.         Strain Development and Medium Optimization for Fumaric Acid Production

        Rhizopus oryzae RUR709 mutant was isolated based on halo size from selection medium via mutagenesis with UV and ${\gamma}$-rays, and the production of fumaric acid in the submerged fermentation was assessed. The maximum concentration of fumaric acid was obtained using 0.5% corn steep liquor (CSL) as the nitrogen source. Organic nitrogen sources were shown to be more effective in fumaric acid production than inorganic nitrogen sources. Using optimum medium obtained by response surface methodology (RSM), the maximum concentration of fumaric acid achieved in flask culture was 26.2 g/L, which is fairly close to the 27.4 g/L predicted by the model. The highest concentration of fumaric acid in the stirred-tank reactor generated by the R. oryzae RUR709 mutant was 32.1 g/L and yield (0.45 g/g) and productivity (0.32 g/L/h) were highest at 4 days.

      • Assessing Environmental Justice Level in Accordance with Chemical Materials' Emissions in Administrative Units of Korea

        This study has intended to analyze relationship between the characteristics of both chemical materials' emissions and socio-economic situation in 353 administrative units (Dong) of Korea, and to assess environmental justice (EJ) level in accordance with chemical materials' emissions. To reach this goal, this study has developed two types of environmental justice index formulas composed of the multiplication of exposure risk index and vulnerability index, and used the formulas as EJ assessment frames. The exposure risk index is the multiplication of total amount grade and density weight of chemical materials' emissions. Vulnerability index consists two types such as vulnerability 1 (V1) and vulnerability 2 (V2). While V1 consists of both the ratio of the recipients of basic living subsidies and the weight, V2 is composed of both the grade of number of the socio-economically weak and the weight. Thus, whereas formula 1 is composed of the exposure index and the V1, formula 2 consists of the exposure index and V2. The smaller the results of calculation, the stronger the environmental injustice level. Final results are as follows: 1) From Formula 1, Hakjang-Dong (Sasang-Gu, Busan), Indong-Dong (Gumi City), Gamjeondong (Sasang-Gu, Busan), Bubal-Eup (Yicheon City) were identified as highly environmentally injust. 2) From formula 2, Indong-Dong (Gumi City), Bubal-Eup (Yicheon City), and NonhyunGozan-Dong (Namdong-Gu, Incheon) were shown highly environmentally injust.
