QoS- and Revenue Aware Adaptive Scheduling Algorithm
Joutsensalo, Jyrki,Hamalainen, Timo,Sayenko, Alexander,Paakkonen, Mikko The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2004 Journal of communications and networks Vol.6 No.1
In the near future packet networks should support applications which can not predict their traffic requirements in advance, but still have tight quality of service requirements, e.g., guaranteed bandwidth, jitter, and packet loss. These dynamic characteristics mean that the sources can be made to modify their data transfer rates according to network conditions. Depending on the customer&; needs, network operator can differentiate incoming connections and handle those in the buffers and the interfaces in different ways. In this paper, dynamic QoS-aware scheduling algorithm is presented and investigated in the single node case. The purpose of the algorithm is in addition to fair resource sharing to different types of traffic classes with different priorities ?to maximize revenue of the service provider. It is derived from the linear type of revenue target function, and closed form globally optimal formula is presented. The method is computationally inexpensive, while still producing maximal revenue. Due to the simplicity of the algorithm, it can operate in the highly nonstationary environments. In addition, it is nonparametric and deterministic in the sense that it uses only the information about the number of users and their traffic classes, not about call density functions or duration distributions. Also, Call Admission Control (CAC) mechanism is used by hypothesis testing.
Optimal Link Allocation and Revenue Maximization
Joutsensalo, Jyrki,Hamalainen, Timo The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2002 Journal of communications and networks Vol.4 No.2
In this paper, the maximal capacity of the data network link has attempted to be exploited by using the dynamic allocation strategy. We propose a new methodology based on the economic models for competing traffic classes (classes of sessions) in packet networks. As the demand for network services accelerates, users' satisfaction to the service level might decrease due to the congestion at the network nodes. To prevent this, efficient allocation of a networks resources, such as available bandwidth and switch capacity, is needed. By using the so-called user profile as well as the utility (e.g., data rate) functions, it is possible to allocate data rates and other utilities using the arbitrary number of QoS classes, say $0.01,...,$10.

The Rosette-joining system is a completely new press-joining method for cold-formed steel structures. One Rosette-joint has a shear capacity equal to that of approximately four screws or rivets. The Rosette thin-walled steel truss system presents a new fully integrated prefabricated alternative to light-weight roof truss structures. The trusses are built up on special industrial production lines from modified top hat sections used as top and bottom chords and channel sections used as webs which are joined together with the Rosette press-joining technique to form a completed structure easy to transport and install. A single web section is used when sufficient but can be strengthened by double-nesting two separate sections or by using two lateral profiles where greater compressive axial forces are met. An individual joint in the truss can be strengthened by introducing a hollow bolt into the joint hole. The bolt gives the connection capacity a boost of approximately 20%. A series of laboratory tests have been carried out in order to verify the Rosette truss system in practice. In addition to compression tests on individual sections of different lengths, tests have also been done on small structural assemblies and on actual full-scale trusses of a span of 10 metres. Design calculations have been performed on selected roof truss geometries based on the test results, FE-analysis and on the Eurocode 3 and U.S.(AISI) design codes.
Taxonomic review of Macraulacinae and Eucneminae (Coleoptera: Eucnemidae) from Korea
승진배,이승환,Jyrki Muona 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.2
Three eucnemid genera and species are recognized for the first time from Korea: Euryptychus vicinus Fleutiaux, 1923, Fornax consobrinus Hisamatsu, 1963, and Feaia nipparensis (Hisamatsu, 1957) new combination (= Heterotaxis nipparensis Hisamatsu, 1957). A key to species, diagnoses, redescriptions, and photographs of diagnostic characters are provided for known Korean species.
Blind Source Separation for OFDM with Filtering Colored Noise and Jamming Signal
M. G. S. Sriyananda,Jyrki Joutsensalo,Timo Hämäläinen 한국통신학회 2012 Journal of communications and networks Vol.14 No.4
One of the premier mechanisms used in extracting unobserved signals from observed mixtures in signal processing is employing a blind source separation (BSS) algorithm. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques are playing a prominent role in the sphere of multicarrier communication. A set of remedial solutions taken to mitigate deteriorative effects caused within the air interface of OFDM transmission with aid of BSS schemes is presented. Four energy functions are used in deriving the filter coefficients. Energy criterion functions to be optimized and the performance is justified. These functions together with iterative fixed point rule for receive signal are used in determining the filter coefficients. Time correlation properties of the channel are taken advantage for BSS. It is tried to remove colored noise and jamming components from themixture at the receiver. Themethod is tested in a slow fading channel with a receiver containing equal gain combining to treat the channel state information values. The importance is that, these are quite low computational complexity mechanisms.

Two new false click-beetles from China (Coleoptera: Elateroidae: Eucnemidae)
Meng Ziye,Muona Jyrki,Ruan Yongying,Chen Xiaoqin,Jiang Shihong 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2
Thambus planifrons Muona & Meng sp. nov. and Otho rutriclypeus Muona & Meng sp. nov. are described from China. Both genera are recorded for the first time from China. Except for the European T. friwaldszkyi Bonvouloir, 1871, and the Japanese T. curvicaria Hisamatsu, 1956, all other previously known species belonging to Otho were from the Americas. Eight Otho species have been described from disparate parts of Asia earlier. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:10B667F6-F11E-454B-9653-D66A2D7ABFA1.
