<P>Generation of high-quality electron beams from laser wakefield acceleration requires optimization of initial experimental parameters. We present here the dependence of accelerated electron beams on the temporal profile of a driving PW laser, the density, and length of an interacting medium. We have optimized the initial parameters to obtain 2.8 GeV quasi-monoenergetic electrons which can be applied further to the development of compact electron accelerators and radiations sources.</P>

The objective of this study is to model and simulate the nonlinear lubrication performance of the sliding part between the piston and cylinder wall in a hydrostatic swash-plate-type axial piston pump. A numerical algorithm is developed that facilitates simultaneous calculation of the rotating body motion and fluid film pressure to observe the fluid film geometry and power loss. It is assumed that solid asperity contact, so-called mixed lubrication in this study, invariably occurs in the swash-plate-type axial piston pump, which produces a higher lateral moment on the pistons than other types of hydrostatic machines. Two comparative mixed lubrication models, rigid and elastic, are used to determine the reaction force and sliding friction. The rigid model does not allow any elastic deformation in the partial lubrication area. The patch shapes, reactive forces, and virtual local elastic deformation in the partial lubrication area are obtained in the elastic contact model using a simple Hertz contact theory. The calculation results show that a higher reaction force and friction loss are obtained in the rigid model, indicating that solid deformation is a significant factor on the lubrication characteristics of the reciprocating piston part.

본 연구에서는 Co/CeO<sub>2</sub> 촉매 제조 시 코발트의 첨가 함량 및 세리아의 소성온도에 따른 물리·화학적 특성 및 일산화질소 산화 성능을 비교하였다. Co/CeO<sub>2</sub> 촉매의 구조적 특성은 XRD, BET 분석을 통하여 확인하였으며, 코발트 표면밀도에 따른 표면 결정 상태를 제안하였다. 또한, Raman, XPS 분석을 통하여 촉매의 산화가 및 산소 결합 상태를 확인하였으며, 일산화질소 산화 성능과의 관계를 제안하였다. H<sub>2</sub>-TPR 분석을 통하여 촉매의 특성 변화에 따른 산소전달특성을 확인하였으며, 일산화질소 산화를 위한 촉매의 활성점(Co<sup>3+</sup>)을 제안하였다. In this study, impact of Co proportion and calcination temperature of ceria on the Co/CeO<sub>2</sub> was analyzed by comparing nitrogen monoxide oxidation performance of various catalysts and their physico-chemical properties. The structural properties of each catalyst were studied by XRD and BET analysis, and the surface crystal states of cobalt were proposed according to the surface density. Oxidation states of elements were observed through Raman and XPS analysis, and the relationship between typical oxidation states and nitrogen monoxide oxidation performance was designed. Through H<sub>2</sub>-TPR, oxygen-transferring capacity due to changes in the characteristics of catalysts were identified, and activation sites (Co<sup>3+</sup>) for oxidation were suggested.
Multiple Rice Body Formation in Subacromial and Subdeltoid Bursal Spaces

We encountered a rare condition of rice body in subacromial and subdeltoid spaces in a patient with unremarkable medical history. Although it is uncommon, there have been continued reports on its formation in certain type of infective and inflammatory arthritis. However, except for a traumatic event, evaluation yielded no known and conceivable cause for his chronic inflammatory bursitis. Relatively typical findings for rice body on magnetic resonance imaging have been described, and in our case the imaging prompted us to schedule early removal, which is generally accepted as the management of choice to prevent further progression of symptoms. The symptoms of the shoulder showed significant improvement, and a close follow-up schedule has been recommended for observation of recurrence and development of any foreseeable underlying cause.
Effect of radiation scattering on dose uniformity in open and closed cell culture vessels

<P> Purpose: Dose uniformity in cell culture vessels such as Petri dishes and anoxic irradiation chambers is very important in radiobiological work as dose uniformity affects cell survival probabilities. In this study, we investigated X-ray dose inhomogeneity, caused by scattering, in typical culture vessels. Materials and methods: Three different cubic cell culture vessels, with side lengths of 10 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm, were designed and irradiated by X-rays of 6 MV and 15 MV at a source-to-surface distance (SSD) of 100 cm using a Varian 2100CD linear accelerator. Results: The relative X-ray dose distribution in a cell culture vessel depended strongly on whether the vessel had a lid. The percentage of the cell culture surface with the dose differing by more than 10% from the mean value of the dose was 43.4% in lidless vessels and 9.7% in lidded vessels. Conclusions: In radiobiological work, X-ray dose inhomogeneity within a cell culture vessel is not negligible and the placement of cells in the vessel should be carefully considered.</P>
