      • Terms-based discriminative information space for robust text classification

        Junejo, K.N.,Karim, A.,Hassan, M.T.,Jeon, M. North-Holland [etc ; Elsevier Science Ltd 2016 Information sciences Vol.372 No.-

<P>With the popularity of Web 2.0, there has been a phenomenal increase in the utility of text classification in applications like document filtering and sentiment categorization. Many of these applications demand that the classification method be efficient and robust, yet produce accurate categorizations by using the terms in the documents only. In this paper, we propose a novel and efficient method using terms-based discriminative information space for robust text classification. Terms in the documents are assigned weights according to the discrimination information they provide for one category over the others. These weights also serve to partition the terms into category sets. A linear opinion pool is adopted for combining the discrimination information provided by each set of terms to yield a feature space (discriminative information space) having dimensions equal to the number of classes. Subsequently, a discriminant function is learned to categorize the documents in the feature space. This classification methodology relies upon corpus information only, and is robust to distribution shifts and noise. We develop theoretical parallels of our methodology with generative, discriminative, and hybrid classifiers. We evaluate our methodology extensively with five different discriminative term weighting schemes on six data sets from different application areas. We give a side-by-side comparison with four well-known text classification techniques. The results show that our methodology consistently outperforms the rest, especially when there is a distribution shift from training to test sets. Moreover, our methodology is simple and effective for different application domains and training set sizes. It is also fast with a small and tunable memory footprint. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. Superfine wheat bran improves the hyperglycemic and hyperlipidemic properties in a high-fat rat model

        Shahid Ahmed Junejo,Huihui Geng,Songnan Li,Ajeet Kumar Kaka,Alam Rashid,Yibin Zhou 한국식품과학회 2020 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.29 No.4

Wheat bran (WB) is an abundant source of fiber, promoting the health for constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastrointestinal disorders. However, the role of superfine-WB in improving the obesity, hyperglycemia, and hyperlipidemia needs to be revealed. The superfine- WB (low and high treatments) was studied on body-weight, blood sugar, serum, and liver lipids in a high-fat rat model for 5-weeks. The high-fat diet substantially increased bodyweight, sugar levels, lipids, and malondialdehyde in serum and liver. In contrast, the superfine-WB treatments reduced food and energy intake, postprandial glucose, body-weight, blood and liver cholesterol, triglycerides, malondialdehyde, low-density lipoprotein, and increased the level of highdensity lipoprotein. Additionally, when the two different concentrations were compared, the maximum impact was exhibited by the superfine-WB containing high concentration. These results suggest that the superfine-WB significantly improves the hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and possibly also protecting against other acute, recurrent, or chronic diseases.

Efficient degradation of organic dyes by heterogeneous cefdinir derived silver nanocatalyst

Muhammad Safdar,Yasmeen Junejo,Aamna Balouch 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.31 No.-

Cefdinir derived silver nanocatalyst (Cef-Ag (0) NPs) was successfully synthesized in aqueous solution byefficient one-pot method and effectively employed for the ultrafast catalytic degradation of Rose Bengaland Eosin Gelblich dyes. The improvement was achieved in percent degradation of toxic dyes by varyingand optimizing reaction time, and amount of catalyst reducing agent concentration. The catalytic studyrevealed that complete reduction 99.9% of dye was accomplished in short period of reaction time (60 s)by efficient cefdinir derived silver nanoparticles. The calculated K (rate constant) value for RB and EGcatalytic degradation was achieved 7 10 2 and 10 10 2 s 1, respectively by plotting lnC vs time (s)and result show that reaction is following first order kinetics.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Education on Entrepreneurial Intention During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Empirical Study from Pakistan

Jan Muhammad SOHU,Ikramuddin JUNEJO,Faiz Muhammad KHUWAJA,Naveed Akhtar QURESHI,Sarfraz Ahmed DAKHAN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.3

This study aimed to find the mediating impact of entrepreneurial education during COVID-19 on entrepreneurial intention among university students from major cities of Pakistan. Majority of businesses shifted to online from offline mode as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. This created a great opportunity for university students to become entrepreneurs without much investment during COVID-19. Primary data for this study was collected with the help of an adopted questionnaire from previous studies. An online survey was considered appropriate due to the COVID-19 situation in the country. The number of data samples collected from the major cities of Pakistan was 460. The research hypothesis was tested with the help of SmartPLS by using least square structural equation modeling. Findings revealed there is full mediation of entrepreneurial education during COVID-19 between the self-efficacy, subjective norms, and attitude towards entrepreneurship for entrepreneurial intention during COVID-19 among university students. Therefore, the research confirmed the application of the theory of planned behavior among university students in Pakistan with regards to factors such as self-efficacy, subjective norms, attitude towards entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. The present study also concludes that all students regardless of their area of study such as Business and Engineering look forward to become entrepreneurs during COVID-19. The students opting for entrepreneurship had either formal or informal entrepreneurial education during COVID-19.

Optimization: Drone-Operated Metal Detection Based on Machine Learning and PID Controller

Minho Joo,Jaehyun Yoon,Allah Rakhio Junejo,Jaehyeok Doh 한국정밀공학회 2022 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.23 No.5

This paper proposes a methodology to detect metals using a drone equipped with a metal detector and programmed by machine learning (ML) models. Our proposed research process could be considered a safe and efficient unmanned mine detection technology for the eventual removal of landmines. Users of this methodology can remotely control the drones without entering the minefield to detect the metal buried and to distinguish whether the metal is mine or not. To realize this idea, we have first stabilized and improved the attitude control of a drone with an attached metal detector by using the micro genetic algorithm-based optimization of proportional–integral–differential control gains. Next, for metal detection, ML models such as a support vector machine and a back-propagation neural network were trained using the annotated dataset. Finally, we have built a controlled drone equipped with a metal detector and trained ML models and experimentally validated our methodology. According to the experimental results, the present study secured the flight stability of the unmanned metal detection drones and the high detection success rate.

Adrenergic blocker terazosin potentially suppresses acetaminophen induced-acute liver injury in animal models via CYP2E1 gene

        Hashmat Zoya,Channa Iffat Saeed,Safdar Muhammad,Ozaslan Mehmet,Saeed Muhammad,Siddique Faisal,Junejo Yasmeen 한국독성학회 2022 Toxicological Research Vol.38 No.3

Drug induced liver injury (DILI) is a global issue and acetaminophen (APAP) is considered as the main cause of this. Due to increasing incidents of DILI, current study attempted to investigate an alternative but better role of terazosin (alpha-adrenergic blocker) in APAP-induced acute liver injury in an animal model using New Zealand rabbits. APAP (1 g/kg of body weight) was given to New Zealand rabbits either with or without terazosin (0.5 mg/kg) and serum was collected after 4 h. Serum alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and ferritin level were determined to analyze the liver functioning of treated rabbits. Furthermore, total cholesterol (TC), total lipids (TL), high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglycerides (TG) levels were estimated to find any change in lipid profile of the treated animals. Moreover, the urea and creatinine levels assayed the actual renal functionality. To identify any modification in gene expression, qPCR of cytochrome P2E1 (CYP2E1) was performed. Terazosin in combination with APAP enhanced liver functioning by reducing the levels of liver injury markers viz. ALP and ALT, while lipid profile was also lowered by down regulation of TC, TL, LDL and TG with enhanced HDL levels. It caused significant down regulation of expression level of CYP2E1. It is concluded that terazosin has better effects induced on the recovery of normal liver functioning, by improving the liver profile, lipid profile and renal functioning both at tissue and molecular levels.
