        Inhibitory Effects of ECQ on Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Damage in Rats

        We investigated inhibitory effects of extract containing quercetin-3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucuronopyranoside (ECQ) extracted from Rumex Aquaticus Herba on indomethacin-induced gastric damage in Rats. Gastritis was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats (200~220 g) by oral administration of indomethacin at a dose of 40 mg/kg. One hour before administration of indomethacin, animals were orally pretreated with ECQ at doses of 0.3, 1, 3 or 10 mg/kg. Six hours after indomethacin administration, the rats were sacrificed and the stomach was excised and opened along the greater curvature, and the surface area of gastric lesion was measured using optical microscope. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), myeloperoxidase (MPO) activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured by ELISA. Western blot analysis was performed to detect protein expression of SOD-2. Linear hemorrhagic mucosal lesions were observed in the stomach 6 hours after oral administration of indomethacin. Pretreatment with ECQ significantly reduced the severity of the lesions in a dose-dependent manner. It also inhibited the reductions in SOD and CAT activities and SOD expression by the indomethacin-induced gastric damage. In addition, the pretreatment with ECQ significantly suppressed the elevation of the MPO activity and the MDA levels induced by indomethacin. These results suggest that ECQ has the inhibitory effects via antioxidative action against indomethacin-induced gastritis in rats.

        Intelligent Hybrid Fusion Algorithm with Vision Patterns for Generation of Precise Digital Road Maps in Self-driving Vehicles

        Due to the significant increase in the use of autonomous car technology, it is essential to integrate this technology with high-precision digital map data containing more precise and accurate roadway information, as compared to existing conventional map resources, to ensure the safety of self-driving operations. While existing map technologies may assist vehicles in identifying their locations via Global Positioning System, it is however difficult to update the environmental changes of roadways in these maps. Roadway vision algorithms can be useful for building autonomous vehicles that can avoid accidents and detect real-time location changes. We incorporate a hybrid architectural design that combines unsupervised classification of vision data with supervised joint fusion classification to achieve a better noise-resistant algorithm. We identify, via a deep learning approach, an intelligent hybrid fusion algorithm for fusing multimodal vision feature data for roadway classifications and characterize its improvement in accuracy over unsupervised identifications using image processing and supervised vision classifiers. We analyzed over 93,000 vision frame data collected from a test vehicle in real roadways. The performance indicators of the proposed hybrid fusion algorithm are successfully evaluated for the generation of roadway digital maps for autonomous vehicles, with a recall of 0.94, precision of 0.96, and accuracy of 0.92.

        청년고용정책의 효과성 평가 연구

        본 연구는 대학 졸업 후 신규로 노동시장에 진입하는 청년들을 대상으로 정부에서 시행하는 중소기업 청년인턴제와 공공기관 청년인턴제의 효과성 평가를 실시하고자 하였다. 분석을 위해 청년인턴제 참여여부를 기준으로 성향점수매칭을 활용하여 실험집단과 실험집단을 선정하고 로지스틱 분석을 활용하였다. 분석결과 중소기업과 공공기관 청년인턴제 모두 첫 직장 취업여부에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 첫 직장 취업형태와 만족도에는 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 공공기관 청년인턴제에 참여하는 경우 일용・임시직으로 연결되는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 분석결과는 중소기업에 취업하는 청년층의 직장 만족도를 높일 수 있는 방안이 마련될 필요가 있으며, 공공기관의 청년인턴제가 체험형 중심에서 채용형 중심으로 변화하여 청년인턴제가 정규직 취업의 연결통로 역할을 할 수 있도록 개선될 필요성을 시사한다. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the youth employment policy on labor market outcomes of Korean youth graduating from college. In order to evaluate the youth employment policy, this study analyzed the youth internship program for small medium-sized enterprises and public institutions. For the analysis, the experimental group and the comparison group were selected using the propensity score matching method based on the participation in the youth internship. The results showed that youth internships for both enterprises and public institutions had a positive effect on the probability of getting employed for their first job. However, there was no positive effect on the employment type or degree of satisfaction on their first jobs. It is worth noting that when youth participated in the public institution internship, they were more likely to be employed as daily temporary workers rather than regular workers. Policy implications are discussed.

        김영란법 정책결정과정 분석

        본 연구는 김영란법의 정책결정과정을 분석하고 정책적 함의를 제시하기 위하여 다중흐름모형과 정책옹호연합모형의 융합모형을 활용하였다. 이를 통해 단일모형의 한계를 극복하고 정책결정 과정을 보다 더 정밀히 분석하고자 하였다. 분석결과 문제·정치·대안의 세 가지 흐름이 확인되었고, 흐름들이 독립적으로 흘러가는 가운데 추친옹호연합과 저지옹호연합 간 세 번의 갈등이 발생하였다. 세월호 침몰사고가 외부충격으로 작용하며 국회에서 계류 중이던 김영란법이 다시 주목받게 되었다. 또한 이완구 국무총리 후보자의 녹취록 공개사건이 내부충격으로 발생하며 정책의 창이 열렸다. 이때 김영란법은 국회 본회의를 통과하였으나 옹호연합들 간 갈등은 계속 이어졌고, 헌법재판소의 합헌 판결 끝에 갈등이 소강되고 김영란법은 계획대로 시행되었다. 이러한 분석결과는 실제 정책결정이 우연한 사건 등을 포함한 다양한 요인들의 상호작용을 통해 매우 복잡하게 이루어지기 때문에 체계적인 분석을 위해서는 하나의 모형에만 의존하기 보다는 다양한 모형들의 적절한 수정 또는 융합이 유용함을 보여준다. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze the policymaking process of Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, often referred to as the Kim Young-ran Act, and suggest the policy implications. Authors use a combined model of the Advocacy Coalition Framework and the Multiple Streams Framework to overcome the limitations of the single model and examines policy change more precisely. Results show that three flows of problems, politics, and alternatives were confirmed, and conflicts between the advocacy coalition occurred three times while the flows flowed independently. The tragic sinking of ferry Sewol was an external shock and attracted the attention to Kim Young-ran Act, which had been pending in the National Assembly. In addition, revealing the tape-recording case of Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo was an internal shock which opened a window of policy. At this moment, Kim Young-ran Act passed the National Assembly plenary session, however, the conflict between the advocacy alliances continued. After the constitutional decision by Constitutional Court, the conflict was lulled and Kim Young-ran Act was implemented as planned. These findings suggest that proper modification or convergence of policy making model is useful for comprehensive and systematic analysis, rather than relying solely on single model, since the actual policy decisions are made very complex interaction of various factors including accidental events.

        Design of a Deflecting Cavity with a Racetrack Cell

        We designed a new deflecting cavity to verify the longitudinal characteristics of a 10-GeV electron beam. The new deflecting cavity is operated in the 2π/3 mode at 11.424 GHz. A regular cell with a racetrack shape is proposed to separate the parasitic mode. In this paper, we will compare the RF characteristics of the newly proposed type of cavity and to those of previous types of deflecting cavities, such as the LOLA cavity and the pocket cell cavity.

      • Elucidating the Bacterial Membrane Disruption Mechanism of Human α-Defensin 5: A Theoretical Study

        <P>Human alpha-defensin 5 (HD5) is a broad-spectrum antibacterial peptide produced by small intestinal Paneth cells. Despite considerable experimental evidence for the correlation between bacterial membrane destruction and the antibacterial activity of HDS, its membrane disruption mechanism remains unclear. Using all-atom molecular dynamics simulations and molecular mechanics Poisson Boltzmann surface area analysis, we demonstrate the membrane disruption mechanism of HD5 based on the intrinsic binding of HDS to Gram-negative (GN) bacterial inner membrane. It was found that both monomer and dimer forms of HD5 bind to the surface of the GN membrane rather than embedding in the hydrophobic core region of the bilayer. Regardless of the form. of HDS, the peptide orientated itself similarly on the membrane surface with an inward-pointing electric dipole moment and an outward-pointing hydrophobic dipole moment. We investigated its possible membrane disruption mechanisms and determined that anionic lipid clustering is a plausible mode of action for HD5. Relative binding free energy analysis revealed that electrostatic interactions play a major role in this mechanism. Our findings shed light on the biophysical phenomena of HD5 GN membrane binding and suggest a possible membrane disruption mechanism for HD5. This analysis of the fundamental binding properties of the monomeric HD5 GN membrane complex provides a useful guide for defensin-derived antibiotic design.</P>

        Optimal Number of Users in Zero-Forcing Based Multiuser MIMO Systems with Large Number of Antennas

        The optimal number of users achieving the maximum sum throughput is analyzed in zero-forcing (ZF) based multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with a large number of base station (BS) antennas. By utilizing deterministic ergodic sum rates for the ZF-beam forming (ZF-BF) and ZF-receiver (ZF-R) with a large number of BS antennas [1], [2], we can obtain the ergodic sum throughputs for the ZF-BF and ZF-R for the uplink and downlink frame structures, respectively. Then, we can also formulate and solve the optimization problems maximizing the ergodic sum throughputs with respect to the number of users. This paper shows that the approximate downlink sum throughput for the ZF-BF is a concave function and the approximate uplink sum throughput for the ZF-R is also a concave function in a feasible range with respect to the number of users. The simulation results verify the analyses and show that the derived numbers of users provide the maximum sum throughputs for the ZF-BF as well as ZF-R in multiuser MIMO systems with a large number of BS antennas.

        Pulsed laser depostion (PLD)법으로 증착된 BaTiO₃ / SrTiO₃ 산화물 초격자의 성장 및 유전특성

        BaTiO₃(BTO)/SrTiO₃(STO) 산화물 인공 초격자가 MgO (100) 단결정 기판위에 Pulsed laser deposition(PLD)법으로 증착되었다. 다층구조에서 BTO/STO 층의 적층 주기는 BTO_(1 unit cell)/STO_(1 unit cell)에서 BTO_(125 unit cell)/STO_(125 unit cell) 두께로 변화시켰고 초격자 전체 두께는 100 ㎚으로 고정시켰다. X-ray 회절 결과는 다양한 주기의 BTO/STO 산화물 박막에서 초격자의 특성을 보였고 투과형 전자 현미경을 통해서 BTO와 STO의 두 층간의 계면에서 상호확산이 일어나지 않고 초격자가 잘 성장된 것을 확인하였다. 초격자의 유전율은 임계 두께 내에서 적층주기가 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. 이러한 초격자의 유전율은 낮은 주기 즉 BTO_(2 unit cell)/STO_(2 unit cell)주기에서 1230으로 높게 나왔으며 이러한 원인은 격자 변형(c/a ratio)에 기여된 것으로 분석되었다. Artificial BaTiO₃(BTO)/SrTiO₃(STO) oxide superlattice have been deposited on MgO (100) single crystal substrate by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) method. The stacking periodicity of BTO/STO superlattice structure was varied from BTO_(1 unit cell)/STO_(1 unit cell) to BTO_(125 unit cell)/STO_(125 unit cell) thickness with the total thickness of 100 ㎚. The result of X-ray diffraction showed the characteristics of superlattice in the BTO/STO multilayer structure. we have also confirmed that there was no interdiffusion at the interface between BTO and STO layers by high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM). The dielectric constant of superlattice increased with decreasing stacking periodicity of the BTO/STO superlattice within the critical thickness. The dielectric constant of the BTO/STO superlattice reached a maximum i.e., 1230 at a stacking perioicity of BTO_(2 unit cell)/STO_(2 unit cell).
