The use of ultrasonography and especially of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in the diagnosis of vascular pathologies before and after interventions has significantly increased over the past years due to the broader availability of modern ultrasound systems with CEUS capabilities and more trained user experience in this imaging modality. For the preinterventional and postinterventional work-up of carotid diseases, duplex ultrasound as well as CEUS have been established as the standard-of-care examination procedures for diagnosis, evaluation, and follow-up. In addition to its use for carotid arterial diseases, ultrasonography has also become the primary modality for the screening of vascular pathologies. This review describes the most common pathologies found in ultrasonography of the carotid arteries, the abdominal aorta, and the femoral arteries.
Globalizing Social Welfare and Labor Markets in East and Southeast Asia
Johannes Dragsbaek Schmidt 한국사회학회 2007 한국사회학회 기타간행물 Vol.- No.-
The current neo-liberal regime of global accumulation has aimed at transforming internal industrial divisions of labor from being part of a national structure of accumulation to becoming a component element in the international division of labor and accumulation process in the world economy. The contradiction that thus arises is whether capital accumulation is embedded in the national economy to the benefit of society or serves the interests of external actors and interests as well as internal comprador elements. In recent times, due to various evolutions, the United States and the European Union have experienced social pressures for restricting the workings of globalization: The first is the fear of job losses through the mechanisms of outsourcing and imports of cheapers industrial products. The second is the anxiety of ethnic and cultural dilution due to the emergence of new patters of labor migration and the reconfiguration of labor markets where the twin-effect of flexibility and informalization affects both society and politics. This situation is to a lesser degree mirrored in East and Southeast Asia where the question is whether the challenges of globalization will lead to a new social compact where state, capital and workers negotiate for the promotion of national development and the creation of a civil society which might minimize the adverse effects of globalization! This paper explores the impact of neo-liberal globalization on labor markets and social welfare in East and Southeast Asia. It draws upon recent debates in the framework of comparative political economy over the impact of nee-liberal globalization on labor market regulation and social welfare adjustment. The focus is on the radical change of work arrangements with an accompanying loss of the social relevance of the work place and of labour-based social organisations. Another aspect is the extent of so-called "a-typical" work such as part time employment and fixed term contracts. A third impact is the overall change of social welfare from a cohesive compact to a more loose type of organization.

Purpose: The Paprosky classification system of acetabular defects is complex and its reliability has been questioned. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different radiologic imaging modalities in classifying acetabular defects in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) and their value of at different levels of training. Materials and Methods: Bone defects in 8 revision THAs were classified by 2 fellowship-trained adult reconstruction surgeons. A timed presentation with representative images for each case (X-ray, two-dimensional computed tomography [CT] and three-dimensional [3D] reconstructions) was shown to 35 residents from the first postgraduate year of training year of training (PGY-1 to PGY-5), 2 adult reconstruction fellows and 2 attending orthopaedic surgeons. The Paprosky classification of bone defects was recorded. The influence of image modality and level of training on classification were analyzed using chi-square analysis (alpha=0.05). Results: Overall correct classification was 30%. The level of training had no influence on correct classification (P=0.531). Using X-ray led to 37% correctly identified defects, CT scans to 33% and 3D reconstructions to 20% of correct answers (P<0.001). There was no difference in correct classification based defect type (P<0.001). Regardless of level of training or imaging, 64% of observers recognized type 1 defects, compared to only 16% correct recognition of type 3B defects. Conclusion: Using plain X-rays led to an increased number of correct classification, while regular CT scan and 3D CT reconstructions did not improve accuracy. The classification system of acetabular defects can be used for treatment decisions; however, advanced imaging may not improve its utilization.
THE SOCIAL ACCEPTABILITY OF LUXURY AUTOMOBILES
Johannes Winter,Oliver P. Heil 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2016 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2016 No.7
Due to the widening social gap, creation of social acceptability has become a key factor of success in luxury brand-building for automotive companies. We develop and apply an acceptability scale in the context of luxury cars. The empirical results confirm strong influences of brand associations, socio-demographic characteristics and materialistic preferences.
