      • CWOS와 황토를 이용한 농축·소화슬러지의 탈수성에 관한 연구

        정병길,고현웅,주윤경,정유진,이징연 동아대학교 환경문제연구소 2002 硏究報告 Vol.25 No.1

Every year, 190,000 tons of oystershell are wasted from many oyster farms. And the fact that the main components of oystershell are CaO and Al₂O₃ which are chemically similar to those of lime leaded to an assumption that oystershell can be used as raw materials for synthesizing dewatering conditioner. In this study, the Jar-Test and the Bu˝chner funnel test were proceeded for the assessment of dewaterability of a thickened sludge and digested sludge. And TTF(Time To Filter), SRF(Specific Resistence Filtration) and TS(Total Solids) were adopted as the valuation indices of sludge dewaterability. Dewatering conditioner which composed of both oystershell and loess is much dewaterable than the one composed of only oystershell. And in the course of combining of oystershell and loess, the following fact was found that the dewaterability of the combination which have the higher ratio of oystershelI than that of loess is superior. Eventually, the most suitable ratio of dewatering conditioner complex is 9 : 1 (oystershell : loess) in treating not only thickened sludge but also digested sludge. In conclusion, the conditioner synthesized from waste oystershell and loess seems to be used as a splendid alternative material for the dewatering conditioner treating the sludge of sewage.

      • Witnessing a Large-scale Slipping Magnetic Reconnection along a Dimming Channel during a Solar Flare

        Jing, Ju,Liu, Rui,Cheung, Mark C. M.,Lee, Jeongwoo,Xu, Yan,Liu, Chang,Zhu, Chunming,Wang, Haimin American Astronomical Society 2017 ASTROPHYSICAL JOURNAL LETTERS - Vol.842 No.2

<P>We report the intriguing large-scale dynamic phenomena associated with the M6.5 flare (SOL2015-06-22T18:23) in NOAA active region 12371, observed by RHESSI, Fermi, and the Atmospheric Image Assembly (AIA) and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The most interesting feature of this event is a third ribbon (R3) arising in the decay phase, propagating along a dimming channel (seen in EUV passbands) toward a neighboring sunspot. The propagation of R3 occurs in the presence of hard X-ray footpoint emission and is broadly visible at temperatures from 0.6 MK to over 10 MK through the differential emission measure analysis. The coronal loops then undergo an apparent slipping motion following the same path of R3, after a similar to 80 minute delay. To understand the underlying physics, we investigate the magnetic configuration and the thermal structure of the flaring region. Our results are in favor of a slipping-type reconnection followed by the thermodynamic evolution of coronal loops. In comparison with those previously reported slipping reconnection events, this one proceeds across a particularly long distance (similar to 60 Mm) over a long period of time (similar to 50 minutes) and shows two clearly distinguished phases: the propagation of the footpoint brightening driven by nonthermal particle injection and the apparent slippage of loops governed by plasma heating and subsequent cooling.</P>

      • EVOLUTION OF RELATIVE MAGNETIC HELICITY AND CURRENT HELICITY IN NOAA ACTIVE REGION 11158

        Jing, Ju,Park, Sung-Hong,Liu, Chang,Lee, Jeongwoo,Wiegelmann, Thomas,Xu, Yan,Deng, Na,Wang, Haimin IOP Publishing 2012 ASTROPHYSICAL JOURNAL LETTERS - Vol.752 No.1

<P>Both magnetic and current helicities are crucial ingredients for describing the complexity of active-region magnetic structure. In this Letter, we present the temporal evolution of these helicities contained in NOAA active region 11158 during five days from 2011 February 12 to 16. The photospheric vector magnetograms of the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager on board the Solar Dynamic Observatory were used as the boundary conditions for the coronal field extrapolation under the assumption of nonlinear force-free field, from which we calculated both relative magnetic helicity and current helicity. We construct a time-altitude diagram in which altitude distribution of the magnitude of current helicity density is displayed as a function of time. This diagram clearly shows a pattern of upwardly propagating current helicity density over two days prior to the X2.2 flare on February 15 with an average propagation speed of similar to 36 m s(-1). The propagation is synchronous with the emergence of magnetic flux into the photosphere, and indicative of a gradual energy buildup for the X2.2 flare. The time profile of the relative magnetic helicity shows a monotonically increasing trend most of the time, but a pattern of increasing and decreasing magnetic helicity above the monotonic variation appears prior to each of two major flares, M6.6 and X2.2, respectively. The physics underlying this bump pattern is not fully understood. However, the fact that this pattern is apparent in the magnetic helicity evolution but not in the magnetic flux evolution makes it a useful indicator in forecasting major flares.</P>

      • CONSUMER CURIOSITY, ANTICIPATION, AND CLICK-THROUGH: NEURAL SIGNATURES OF DIGITAL BUZZ

        Jing Zhang,Jin Ho Yun,Eun-Ju Lee 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

Digital and social media has become an indispensable channel of promotion and marketing to the enterprises. For example, compared to other means of promotional channels, such as television advertising, newspapers, social network services (SNS) are more competitive, more convenient, and lower-cost. Because individuals compose or share those posts anytime, anywhere, information spreads fast and wide on social media. SNS posts can affect people's perception, thus affecting their purchase intention and behavior. A large number of researchers investigated academic issues involved SNS, such as the influence of eWOM in social media on consumers' purchase intentions (Erkan & Evans, 2016). According to Lin and Lu’s research (2011), which suggests that gender difference also exists in social media. In addition, a study identified attributes of social media messaging activities and examined the relationships among those perceived activities, value equity, relationship equity, brand equity, customer equity, and purchase intention through a structural equation model (Kim & Ko, 2012). In this study, we focus on the motivational antecedents of digital buzz on digital and social media. Among many performance metrics of digital marketing, the most important one that really matters to advertisers is click-through. Click-through is believed to reflect viewers’ interest in the product contents that are being shown on screen, and based on that assumption, it opens a new navigation tab, such as the advertiser’s web site that can provide information about products and services of an advertising company. However, there is a caveat here. Since advertisements in digital and social media are often placed on top of the contents that the viewers have already been reading, viewers can accidentally click on the internet advertisements in which they have no interests. Viewers are only annoyed by intrusive re-routing during their digital activities. Hence, it is important that the digital media marketer to be able to distinguish between the click-throughs, knowing the difference between the clicks that are genuinely reflective of a viewer’s interest, or the rest of clicks that are not. For this purpose, we propose consumer curiosity and anticipation as drivers of click-through that are meaningful to digital markers. Consumer curiosity is an important variable that results in click-through behavior, digital propagation or buzz, and further stimulates consumers' consumption activities. In recent years, there are many studies to verify this theory. Online atmospherics have an impact on customer emotions, and perceptual curiosity has a moderating effect existed in the two variables (Koo & Ju, 2010). However, the research about curiosity’s mediation effect on purchase intention aroused by SNS contents is still limited. In addition, the neural research in this field is still limited. The research seeks to understand how the SNS contents affect customer’s curiosity toward the product which the content mentioned. Furthermore, to find the relationship between curiosity and the purchase intention by using neuromarketing methodology. Our goal is to discover the neural signatures of consumers’ motivational state that leads to click-through, exploration of contents, and finally digital buzz behavior. EEG and fMRI are commonly research approaches used in the neuroscience field. EEG detect electric activities in the brain waves and fMRI measures hemodynamic events to discover individuals’ cognitive and motivational states. After content-analyzing top 10 most shared posts in the fashion brands Facebook official account which included luxury brands such as GUCCI, Luis Vuitton, and Herm?s), we extract the attractive posts’ content attributes to be the level of accuracy, graphic quality, and information value. Then, we create two different simulations of social media activities that instigates viewer curiosity at differing levels. By designing an online experiment that examines how different arrays of information can create different levels viewer curiosity in user posts, and by measuring viewers’ intention to propagate the posts, we are able to discover neural signatures of digital buzz. Potential implications to digital marketing of this research in establishing meaningful performance metrics for digital marketing are discussed.

A Mutation in <i>PGM2</i> Causing Inefficient Galactose Metabolism in the Probiotic Yeast <i>Saccharomyces boulardii</i>

        Liu, Jing-Jing,Zhang, Guo-Chang,Kong, In Iok,Yun, Eun Ju,Zheng, Jia-Qi,Kweon, Dae-Hyuk,Jin, Yong-Su American Society for Microbiology 2018 Applied and environmental microbiology Vol.84 No.10

<P>IMPORTANCE Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast strain capable of preventing and treating diarrheal diseases. However, the genetics and metabolism of this yeast are largely unexplored. In particular, molecular mechanisms underlying the inefficient galactose metabolism of S. boulardii remain unknown. Our study reports that a point mutation in PGM2, which codes for phosphoglucomutase, is responsible for inferior galactose utilization by S. boulardii. After correction of the mutated PGM2 via genome editing, the resulting strain was able to use galactose faster than a parental strain. While the PGM2 mutation made the yeast use galactose slowly, investigation of the genomic sequencing data of other S. boulardii strains revealed that the PGM2 mutation is evolutionarily conserved. Interestingly, the PGM2 mutation was beneficial for growth at a higher temperature on glucose. We speculate that the PGM2 mutation was enriched due to selection of S. boulardii in the natural habitat (sugar-rich fruits in tropical areas).</P>

Biocontrol Potential of a Lytic Bacteriophage PE204 against Bacterial Wilt of Tomato

( Bae Ju Young ),( Jing Wu ),( Hyoung Ju Lee ),( Eun Jeong Jo ),( Senthilkumar Murugaiyan ),( Eun Sook Chung ),( Seon Woo Lee ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2012 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.22 No.12

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is a devastating disease of many economically important crops. Since there is no promising control strategy for bacterial wilt, phage therapy could be adopted using virulent phages. We used phage PE204 as a model lytic bacteriophage to investigate its biocontrol potential for bacterial wilt on tomato plants. The phage PE204 has a short-tailed icosahedral structure and double-stranded DNA genome similar to that of the members of Podoviridae. PE204 is stable under a wide range of temperature and pH, and is also stable in the presence of the surfactant Silwet L-77. An artificial soil microcosm (ASM) to study phage stability in soil was adopted to investigate phage viability under a controlled system. Whereas phage showed less stability under elevated temperature in the ASM, the presence of host bacteria helped to maintain a stable phage population. Simultaneous treatment of phage PE204 at 108 PFU/ml with R. solanacearum on tomato rhizosphere completely inhibited bacterial wilt occurrence, and amendment of Silwet L-77 at 0.1% to the phage suspension did not impair the disease control activity of PE204. The biocontrol activities of phage PE204 application onto tomato rhizosphere before or after R. solanacearum inoculation were also investigated. Whereas pretreatment with the phage was not effective in the control of bacterial wilt, post-treatment of PE204 delayed bacterial wilt development. Our results suggested that appropriate application of lytic phages to the plant root system with a surfactant such as Silwet L-77 could be used to control the bacterial wilt of crops.

Effect of 7, 8-dihydroxyflavone on the up-regulation of Nrf2-mediated heme oxygenase-1 expression in hamster lung fibroblasts.

        Ryu, Min Ju,Kang, Kyoung Ah,Piao, Mei Jing,Kim, Ki Cheon,Zheng, Jian,Yao, Cheng Wen,Cha, Ji Won,Hyun, Chang Lim,Chung, Ha Sook,Park, Jong Cook,Cho, Suk Ju,Hyun, Jin Won Springer 2014 In vitro cellular & developmental biology Animal Vol.50 No.6

<P>The cytoprotective mechanism of 7, 8-dihydroxyflavone (DHF) against oxidative stress-induced cell damage with respect to its stimulatory effect on the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), a potent antioxidant enzyme, was investigated in the present study. Up-regulation of HO-1 expression by DHF was both dose and time dependent in lung fibroblast V79-4 cells. DHF also increased the protein expression level of the transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), and induced the translocation of Nrf2 from the cytosol into the nucleus, leading to elevated HO-1 expression. The siNrf2 RNA-transfection attenuated HO-1 expression induced by DHF treatment. In addition, DHF induced the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), while U0126 (a specific pharmacological inhibitor of ERK kinase) abrogated DHF-activated Nrf2 and HO-1 expression. This suggests that DHF increased the levels of Nrf2 and HO-1 via ERK-dependent pathways. Furthermore, DHF significantly prevented the reduction of cell viability in response to oxidative stress; however, U0126 attenuated the protective effect of DHF. Taken together, these results demonstrate that DHF protected cells from oxidative stress via the activation of an ERK/Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway.</P>
