The Effects of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) on Machining Force, Temperature, and Residual Stress

Xia Jinan,Beizhi Li,Xueping Zhang,Steven Y. Liang 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) machining has achieved noticeable attention in both academic and industry research areas dueto its minimum costs and maximum environmental protection. This paper focuses on the analysis of the effects of MQL parameterssuch as the flow rate of lubricant and the air-oil mixture ratio on cutting performances in terms of cutting force, cutting temperature, and residual stress. Additionally, the cutting performances in MQL machining are also compared with the dry and flood coolingmachining. The results show that the cutting fluid can considerably reduce the cutting force and cutting temperature in machining. For MQL machining, there is a maximum effective flow rate of lubricant and it is influenced by the cutting speed. When the flow rateof lubricant is beyond the maximum effective value, the air-oil mixture ratio will no longer affect the cutting performances inmachining. This research can support the process planning in achieving the desired residual stress profile by strategically adjustingthe MQL parameters.

The Positive Association between Subclinical Hypothyroidism and Newly-Diagnosed Hypertension Is More Explicit in Female Individuals Younger than 65

        Xichang Wang,Haoyu Wang,Li Yan,Lihui Yang,Yuanming Xue,Jing Yang,Yongli Yao,Xulei Tang,Nanwei Tong,Guixia Wang,Jinan Zhang,Youmin Wang,Jianming Ba,Bing Chen,Jianling Du,Lanjie He,Xiaoyang Lai,Yanbo Li 대한내분비학회 2021 Endocrinology and metabolism Vol.36 No.4

Background: Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is the most common thyroid dysfunction, and its relationship with blood pressure(BP) has been controversial. The aim of the study was to analyze the association between SCH and newly-diagnosed hypertension. Methods: Based on data from the Thyroid disease, Iodine nutrition and Diabetes Epidemiology (TIDE) study, 49,433 euthyroid individuals and 7,719 SCH patients aged ≥18 years were enrolled. Patients with a history of hypertension or thyroid disease were excluded. SCH was determined by manufacturer reference range. Overall hypertension and stage 1 and 2 hypertension were diagnosedaccording to the guidelines issued by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association in 2017. Results: The prevalence of overall hypertension (48.7%), including stage 1 (28.9%) and 2 (19.8%) hypertension, increased significantly in SCH patients compared with euthyroid subjects. With elevated serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level, the hypertension prevalence also increased significantly from the euthyroid to different SCH subgroups, which was more profound in femalesor subjects aged <65 years. The age- and sex-specific regression analysis further demonstrated the same trends in the general population and in the 1:1 propensity matched population. Similarly, several BP components (i.e., systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial BP)were positively associated with TSH elevation, and regression analysis also confirmed that all BP components were closely relatedwith SCH in female subjects aged <65 years. Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension increases for patients with SCH. SCH tends to be associated with hypertension and BPcomponents in females younger than 65 years.

Four new compounds from the bulbs of Lycoris aurea with neuroprotective effects against $CoCl_2$ and $H_2O_2$-induced SH-SY5Y cell injuries

        Jin, An,Li, Xue,Zhu, Yun-Yun,Yu, Heng-Yi,Pi, Hui-Fang,Zhang, Peng,Ruan, Han-Li 대한약학회 2014 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.37 No.3

Three new alkaloids, $2{\alpha}$-hydroxy-6-O-n-butyloduline, O-n-butyllycorenine, (-)-N-(chloromethyl)lycoramine (1-3), and a new phenolic compound, ((7S)-7-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-hydroxypropyl)-2'-methylbenzene-3',6'-diol (14), along with ten known alkaloids (4-13), were isolated from the bulbs of Lycoris aurea collected from Huaihua County of Hunan Province, China. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including HRESIMS, UV, IR, and NMR. All the isolated compounds were tested for their neuroprotective effects against $CoCl_2$ and $H_2O_2$-induced SH-SY5Y cell death. Compounds 1-7 and 10 exhibited significant neuroprotective effects against $CoCl_2$-induced SH-SY5Y cell injury, while compounds 1-5, 7, 10 and 12 showed obvious neuroprotective effects against $H_2O_2$-induced SH-SY5Y cell death.
