Multiple slow waves in metaporous layers for broadband sound absorption
Yang, Jieun,Lee, Joong Seok,Kim, Yoon Young IOP 2017 Journal of Physics. D, Applied Physics Vol.50 No.1
<P>Sound absorption for a broad frequency range requires sound dissipation. The mechanics of acoustic metamaterials for non-dissipative applications has been extensively studied, but sound absorption using dissipative porous metamaterials has been less explored because of the complexity resulting from the coupling of its dissipative mechanism and metamaterial behavior. We investigated broadband sound absorption by engineering dissipative metaporous layers, which absorb sound by the mechanism of multiple slow waves, and combined local and global resonance phenomena. A set of rigid partitions of varying lengths was elaborately inserted in a hard-backed porous layer of a finite thickness. An effective medium theory was used to explain the physics involved; high performance at a low-frequency range was found to be mainly due to the formation of global resonances caused by multiple slow waves over the thickness of the metaporous layer, while enhancement at a high-frequency range was attributed to the combined effects of the global resonances and the local resonances directly related to the sizes of the inserted partitions.</P>
Treatment of Psoriasis with Exudation: Three Case Studies
Yang, Jieun,Lee, Kihoon,Chang, Gyu Tae The Society of Korean Medicine 2016 대한한의학회지 Vol.37 No.2
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present three case reports on the treatments of psoriasis with exudation. Methods: We administered herbal medicine to three patients who showed psoriasis with exudation and evaluated the results by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI). Results: After the treatment three patients showed improvements in PASI. PASI of patient 1 changed from 18.0 to 0.9; patient 2 from 11.6 to 0.8; patient 3 from 12.0 to 0.4. Conclusions: The results suggest that herbal medicine can be an effective treatment for psoriasis with exudation.

<P><B>A facile method for the fabrication of negatively and positively charged rGO field effect transistors (FETs)</B> is proposed, which utilizes electrostatic attraction between electrodes and rGO sheets. Negatively and positively charged rGO sheets are functionalized with carboxylic acid and amine groups, respectively. The FET of amine‐functionalized rGO exhibits an n‐doping effect. The FET devices fabricated by this method show high mobility of carriers.</P>
