POSITIVE SOLUTIONS OF THE SECOND-ORDER SYSTEM OF DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN BANACH SPACES
Jianxin Cao,Haibo Chen,Jin Deng 한국전산응용수학회 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.5
In this paper, a second-order system of multi-point boundary value problems in Banach spaces is investigated. Based on a specially constructed cone and the fixed point theorem of strict-set-contraction operators, the criterion of the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions are established. And two examples demonstrating the theoretic results are given.

Lectin receptor-like kinases (LecRK) are widespread in higher plants; however, little is known about their physiological roles. In this study, At1g70130 (designated LecRK-b2), an Arabidopsis LecRK gene, has been investigated. LecRK-b2 was predominantly expressed during seed germination, and its expression was ceased following germination. The expression of LecRK-b2 was induced by abscisic acid (ABA), salt, and osmotic stress. LecRK-b2 lossof- function mutation slightly reduced the ABA sensitivity during seed germination, and this reduced sensitivity was demonstrated not due to lower ABA accumulation level in the seeds. Dual-luciferase transient expression assay confirmed that the transcription factor ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE3 (ABI3) could activate the luciferase under driving of LecRK-b2 promoter. LecRK-b2 transcription level was found to be down-regulated in abi3 during seed germination. Furthermore, LecRK-b2 loss-of-function mutation reduced the salt and osmotic sensitivity during early development stage of Arabidopsis. Taken together, these results suggest that LecRK-b2 functions as a positive regulator of the ABA response during the seed germination and is involved in salt and osmotic stress response in the early development stage.

This paper primarily determined the suitable technique for the preparation of WS 2 /C coating by the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with a keen focus on the criteria of coating property, deposition process, resource and equipment. Further, some cutting performances of six cutting tools with different treatments, including cutting forces, cutting temperatures, wear mechanisms, tool life, etc. were investigated in dry cutting AISI1045 steel. The optimal lubricating condition for dry cutting process was obtained when using the cutting tools configured with the combination of WS 2 /C coating and shark-skin-inspired structures. Finally, the sustainability assessment was carried out by the calculation of the product sustainability index (PSI). The highest PSI of 78.6% was obtained in case of the dry cutting experiment using WMT-2-N tools, which provided a suggested favorable alternative considering both product and manufacturing process. Thus, dry cutting AISI1045 steel using WMT-2-N tools seems to be an environmentally-friendly machining process and would be helpful to enhance sustainability.

The double B-box (DBB) type zinc finger protein has thus far been shown to be involved in photomorphegenesis in Arabidopsis thaliana. Here, we show that DBB1a is expressed in the embryo, cytolden, and flower. Misexpression of DBB1a in mutant plants resulted in abnormal numbers and patterns of floral organs. We further show that DBB1a could regulate expression of several floral homeotic genes, including APETALA 2, APETALA 3, PISTILLATA, and AGAMOUS. Interestingly, expression of the microRNA gene MiR172, which is involved in organ boundary establishment, was also misregulated in the dbb1a mutant plants. Our study identified a previously uncharacterized role of DDB1a in regulation of expression of floral homeotic genes and miR172, which is important for understanding of floral pattern formation.

A new dry cutting tool named WS2 soft coated Micro-Nano textured self-lubricating dry cutting tool (WTT tool) is developed and tested. Dry turning tests have been carried out on 45# quenched and tempered steel with a WTT tool and three other types of alternative tools. The machining performance was assessed in terms of the cutting forces, cutting temperature, friction coefficient at the tool-chip interface, chip deformation, tool wear, and the surface roughness of the machined workpiece. The results show that the WTT tool has the best cutting performance among all the tools tested under the same cutting conditions. Through theoretical analysis and experimental results, the mechanisms of the WTT tool in improving cutting performance were put forward. Meanwhile, the effect of Micro-Nano texture and WS2 soft coating on the cutting forces and the cutting temperature is analyzed. It can be concluded that the WTT tool can effectively improve the anti-adhesion and wear-resistance properties and increase the tool life.
