LIM has transverse edge effect by secondary structure causing the variation of equivalent circuit parameters, so 3D FEM must be applied for accurate analysis. This results long analysis time, which is not suitable for its design and characteristic analysis. To overcome the disadvantage, this paper applied analytical method to analyze efficiency characteristic. To derive electromagnetic propulsion force, the electromagnetic field is illustrated, and equivalent circuit method is applied to obtain equivalent circuit parameters.

<P>IMPORTANCE Bacterial polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biosynthesis is a complex process requiring several enzymes. The biological roles of PHA granule synthesis enzymes and the surface proteins of PHA granules during host-gut symbiont interactions are not fully understood. Here, we report the effects on colonization ability in the host midguts and the fitness of host insects after feeding Burkholderia mutant cells (four phaP-depleted mutants and one phaR-depleted mutant) to the host insects. Analyses of both synthesized PHA granule amounts and CFU numbers suggest that the phaR gene is closely related to synthesis of the PHA granule and the colonization of the Burkholderia gut symbiont in the host insect's midgut. Like our previous report, this study also supports the idea that the environment of the host midgut may not be favorable to symbiotic Burkholderia cells and that PHA granules may be required to adapt in the host midgut.</P>

Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 3-level hybrid surgery (HS), which combines fusion and cervical disc replacement (CDR), compared to 3-level fusionin patient with cervical spondylosis involving 3 levels. Methods : Patients in the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) group (n=30) underwent 3-level fusion and the HS group (n=19) underwent combined surgery with fusion and CDR. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using the visual analogue scale for the arm, the neck disability index (NDI), Odom criteria and postoperative complications. The cervical range of motion (ROM), fusion rate and adjacent segments degeneration were assessed with radiographs. Results : Significant improvements in arm pain relief and functional outcome were observed in ACDF and HS group. The NDI in the HS group showed better improvement 6 months after surgery than that of the ACDF group. The ACDF group had a lower fusion rate, higher incidence of device related complications and radiological changes in adjacent segments compared with the HS group. The better recovery of cervical ROM was observed in HS group. However, that of the ACDF group was significantly decreased and did not recover. Conclusion : The HS group was better than the ACDF group in terms of NDI, cervical ROM, fusion rate, incidence of postoperative complications and adjacent segment degeneration.

Purpose: The simple results of preceding studies suggesting adult people with left hemisphere damage(hereinafter, people with LHD) and people with right hemisphere damage(hereinafter, people with RHD) have deficient simile comprehension requires further systematic studies intended to determine whether there are any statistically significant differences between the two groups if such the deficiency exists. In this context, as a part of systematic studies, the present study was intended to clarify simile comprehension in adults with brain damage. Methods: The subjects of this study included people with LHD, people with RHD and normal adults (ten subjects each). All subjects completed a questionnaire composed of 10 questions about direct simile and 10 questions about indirect simile using illustrated figures. Results: First, when simile comprehension in the three groups were examined closely according to the type of simile, the score of comprehension was the highest in normal group, followed by people with LHD and then people with RHD. A two-way analysis of variance showed a statistically significant difference in groups only. Second, when erroneous responses of simile comprehension in the three groups according to the type of simile were studied, no response was seen in people with LHD, and the frequency of choosing the secondary meaning was relatively higher in people with RHD. In addition, a two-way analysis of variance indicated a statistically significant difference in groups only. Conclusions: Taken together, as a figurative expression, the comprehension of simile and it's the form of erroneous response depend on the damaged hemisphere.
