        This study was accomplished to obtain the basic materials about polypharmacy-related drug interaction and side effect. The polypharmacy in relation to the route of drug administration, dosage form, clinical department and age was surveyed with the 1,632 outpatients in Chonnam University Hospital at one day of January, March and May in 1991. On the route of drug administration, internal medicine occupied 81.2%, the combination of internal medicine & external medicine 7.3%, external medicine 3.9%, injection 3.8% and the combination of internal medicine & injection 3.4%. On drug dosage form, internal medicine occupied 92.1%, injection 7.6% and external medicine 11.6%. The case to use 4 drugs occupied the highest value of 26.2% and the case to use 1 drug 8.4%. The highest number of used drug was 14 and 90% of the patients used less than 6 drugs. The average number of used drug per patient was 4.2. The average number of used drug in ophthalmological department was the lowest value of 2.4, in surgical department 4.4, in internal medical department 4.7 and in neurological department the highest value of 5.7. The average number of used drug in infants and pediatrics was 2.8, in 15-20 year old youth 3.6, in 21-60 year old adults 4.3 and in above 61 year old geriatrics 4.7. As age increased, the number of used drug tended to increase.

      • 비스테로이드성 소염진통제의 약물상호작용에 관한 연구

        According to the test increase of NSAID-uses, the possibility of the occurrence of drug interaction became increased. So we surveyed the drug interaction of NSAIDS in order to inhibit NSAID-related side defect. This study was accomplished for the NSAID-administered inpatients in Chonnam University Hospital at one day from Jan. to June in 1991. The NSAID-administered inpatients occupied 20.2% of total 3598 drug-administered inpatients On clinical department, orthopedic surgery occupied the highest value of 15.1% of NSAID-administered patient On the route of NSAID administration, injection occupied 32.7%, internal medicine 61.2%, external medicine 0.3% and the combination of injection & internal medicine 5.8%. On NSAID dosage form, injection occupied 38.5%. internal medicine 67% and external medicine 0.396. On the number of used NSAID, ale occupied 89.8%, two 9.2% arid three 1%. The average number of NSAID used by a patient was 1.1. The possible occurrence rate of drug interaction of NSAIDS was 33.1%. As the number of teed drug increased, the occurrence possibility of drug interaction of NSAIDS tended to increase. The possible occurrence rate of drug interaction of NSAIDS reached 100% in above 21 drug-used casts. The harmful interaction of NSAIDS could occur such as digitalis toxicity with digoxin in 3 cases, hypoglyocemia with antidiabetics in 8 cases, nephrotoxicity with diuretics in 57 cams, hemorrhage with anticoagulants or thrombolytics in 57 case, gastrointestinal hemorrhage with NSAIDS in 63 cases, the decease of antihypertensive effect with antihypertensives in 104 roses and the decrease of anti-inflammatory effect with antacids in 135 uses. So we should carefully monitor the drug interaction of NSAIDS and provide drug information to health team in order to prevent the harmful interaction of NSAIDS.

        Syntactic Differences of Plurality Markers

        There are two crucial syntactic differences found among plurality markers. Dependent plurals and anti-quantifiers work at the phrasal level as opposed to ordinary plurals that apply to the lexical level. More specifically, ordinary plurals are adjoined to the X level while anti-quantifiers attach to the full-fledged XP level. Dependent plurals, however, have the in-between status syntactically and combine with the X'-structure. Another difference is found between ordinary plurals and dependent plurals, on the one hand, and anti-quantifiers, on the other, in the respect that the former is a morpheme while the latter is a phrase that can take its own complement. These different statuses seem to account for why plural forms are intrinsically ambiguous whereas anti-quantifiers are unambiguously more expressive in their semantics as well as in their syntax than ordinary plurals and dependent plurals.

        Adorning Materials in Middles

        This paper claims that adorning materials in middles can commonly be translated into adverbials since modality, negation, and focus can all be expressed using various types of adverbials. Through the analytical lens that views middle constructions as distributivity constructions that are essentially reduced to plurality, this common property among adorning materials in middles is highly interesting. Thus, this paper accounts for the adorning materials in middles in Joh’s (2016) analysis, which treats adverbials in middles as one of distributivity’s core arguments. This paper also discusses how adverbials that are implicitly inserted in middle sentences can be conditioned. To answer this question, this paper relies on the differentiating effect that Sohn (2003) examined, extending the previously proposed unexpectedness condition.

      • Application of whole‐exome sequencing for detecting copy number variants in CMT1A/HNPP

        <P>Large insertions and deletions (indels), including copy number variations (CNVs), are commonly seen in many diseases. Standard approaches for indel detection rely on well‐established methods such as qPCR or short tandem repeat (STR) markers. Recently, a number of tools for CNV detection based on next‐generation sequencing (NGS) data have also been developed; however, use of these methods is limited. Here, we used whole‐exome sequencing (WES) in patients previously diagnosed with CMT1A or HNPP using STR markers to evaluate the ability of WES to improve the clinical diagnosis. Patients were evaluated utilizing three CNV detection tools including CONIFER, ExomeCNV and CEQer, and array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH). We identified a breakpoint region at 17p11.2‐p12 in patients with CMT1A and HNPP. CNV detection levels were similar in both 6 Gb (mean read depth = 80×) and 17 Gb (mean read depth = 190×) data. Taken together, these data suggest that 6 Gb WES data are sufficient to reveal the genetic causes of various diseases and can be used to estimate single mutations, indels, and CNVs simultaneously. Furthermore, our data strongly indicate that CNV detection by NGS is a rapid and cost‐effective method for clinical diagnosis of genetically heterogeneous disorders such as CMT neuropathy.</P>

      • Effects of dietary deoxynivalenol and zearalenone on apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in growing pigs

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZON) on the apparent ileal digestibility (AID) of AA in growing pigs. Twelve pigs (initial mean body weight=20.6±2.1kg) cannulated at the distal ileum were assigned to 3 dietary treatments in a quadruplicated 3×2 incomplete Latin square design with 3 diets and 2 periods. Three experimental diets consisted of a corn-soybean meal-based control diet, a DON-supplemented diet at 10mg/kg and a ZON-supplemented diet at 10mg/kg. All diets contained 5g/kg chromic oxide as an indigestible index. Each experimental period was comprised of a 5-d adaptation period and a 3-d ileal digesta collection period. The concentration of DON or ZON in the mycotoxin-supplemented diet was analyzed to be 11.2mg/kg or 11.6mg/kg, respectively. Pigs fed the DON-supplemented diet had less AID of Lys (0.799 vs. 0.839, P=0.08), Thr (0.695 vs. 0.751, P=0.08), Trp (0.766 vs. 0.840, P=0.02), and Val (0.687 vs. 0.749, P=0.08) than those fed the control diet, but the AID of other AA were not affected by DON supplementation. With the exception of Trp (0.771 vs. 0.840, P=0.04), the supplementation of ZON to the control diet did not affect the AID of AA. In conclusion, dietary DON, but not ZON, may reduce the AID of some indispensable AA.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Protein digestibility was not affected by the dietry mycotoxins. </LI> <LI> Digestibility of some indispensable amino acid was reduced by deoxynivalenol. </LI> <LI> The dietary zearalenone did not affect digestibility of amino acids except Trp. </LI> </UL> </P>

        The spatial characteristics of bicycle-to-person collisions: a focus on bicycle paths of the Han River Park in Seoul, Korea

        Recently, as the number of cyclists has grown in Seoul, Korea, bicycle traffic accidents have also increased rapidly. Most precedent research concerning bicycle traffic accidents has focused on the cases where motor vehicles have injured cyclists. Unlike preceding studies, this study focuses on the cases where bicycles have collided with pedestrians. The purpose of this study is to identify the spatial characteristics of the bicycle-to-person collisions caused by bicycles. Binomial Logistic Model is used to identify the spatial relationships of bicycle-to-pedestrian collisions. For the analysis, the entire Han River Park is broken down into 50  × 50 m grids, which become the units of analysis of this study. The target period for the analysis is set from 2014 to 2016. Dependent variables are accident points in the Han River Park. As the independent variables, the variety of spatial and physical factors of the Han River Park are considered. The model shows that the crosswalks, speed restriction features, street furniture, floating population, and bicycle rental shops in the Han River Park are significant factors relating to bicycle-to-pedestrian collisions.

      • Identification and classification of endogenous retroviruses in the canine genome using degenerative PCR and in-silico data analysis

        Pooled genomic DNA from 10 dogs was subjected to polymerase chain reaction with primers targeting the retroviral pro/pol region. Sequence analysis of 120 clones obtained by PCR revealed 81 of retroviral origin. Subsequent analysis of the dog genome (CanFam 2.0) by BLAST investigation using degenerate PCR products and previously identified retroviral sequences permitted the identification of additional retroviral γ and β sequences. A phylogenetic analysis using the retroviral protease (PR) and reverse transcriptase (RT) sequences in the dog genome resulted in identification of 17 γ and 7 β families. In addition, we also identified 167 spuma-like ERV elements from CanFam 2.0 based on sequence homology to murine (Mu)ERV-L and human (H)ERV-L. Our results could contribute to the understanding of the influence of retroviruses in shaping the genome structure and altering gene expression by providing quantitative and locational information of ERV loci and their diversity in the dog genome.
