      • Study on Leaf Production of Angelica acutiloba by Mulching with Polyethylene Film

        This study was conducted to produce effectively more leaves of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production system by using various mulching materials and polyethylene(PE) tunnel. Soil temperature by covering treatment was higher in PE mulching and PE tunnel than in rice straw mulching, especially showing the highest temperature in PE tunnel from April through May. Water content of soil was higher in PE mulching than in non-mulching. Leaf production of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production showed the highest in PE tunnel and root production in PE mulching. These results suggest that leaf production of Angelica acutiloba can be maximized through PE tunnel cultivation system.

      • A Basic Study on Leaf and Stem Production of Angelica acutiloba

        This study was conducted to develop effective production system in greenhouse for leaves and stems of Angelica acutiloba by using connect pots in 2003 and 2004. Seed germination rate and plant biomass of Angelica acutiloba collected in 2004 were higher than those harvested in 2003. Germination rate of Angelica acutiloba seeds collected in 2003 was 10%, while germination rate of seeds collected in 2004 was above 90%. Especially, plant growth and yield of Angelica acutiloba grown in connect pots sized with 4×4×5cm(length×width×height) were the highest. These results indicate that leaf and stem production of Angelica acutiloba can be improved by using connect pots and optimizing seed collecting time in greenhouse.

      • Effect of Activated Charcoal on Growth of Curcuma longa Linne

        This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Activated charcoal (AC) for stimulating growth and productivity of Curcuma longa Linne as affected by different concentrations of AC. Growth characteristics such as plant height and leaf length were the highest with the optimum amount of activated charcoal ranged from 10 to 30%. Root growth was elongated by the addition of 30% AC with the highest rhizome length and weight.

      • Effect of Storage Condition on Yield and Quality of Angelica acutiloba Radix

        To develop an optimal storage method of root of Angelica acutiloba Radix, which has been grown as major herbal medicine material to be cultivated, root of Angelica acutiloba Radix, was stored for 10 months with different packing materials and sealing methods. The loss in dry weight as influenced by packing materials and sealing methods was the lowest at vacuum packing and followed by complete sealing methods with transparent polyethylene film. The ratio of root rot during the storage period was not significantly different between packing materials but was significantly different between sealing conditions. In conclusion, vacuum packing and complete sealing with polyethylene film appears to be most optimal for storage of Angelica acutiloba Radix.

      • Effect of Activated Charcoal on Growth of Zingiber mioga ROSC

        Activate charcoal (AC) can be utilized as a soil conditioner in agricultural crop areas. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of AC on growth and yield of Zingiber mioga ROSC as affected by different amounts of AC. The results obtained are summarized as follows. Growth characteristics including plant height and leaf length were the highest when activated charcoal added with 10-30%, suggesting that optimum amount of activated charcoal was ranged from 10 to 30%. Growth and enlargement of the root were improved by 10% AC with higher rhizome length and weight.

        비선형 k-ε 모형을 이용한 부분 식생 개수로 흐름의 평균흐름 및 난류구조 수치모의

        본 연구에서는 부분 식생된 개수로에서 평균흐름 및 난류구조에 관한 수치모의 결과를 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 식생항력항이 포함된 레이놀즈 평균 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 수치해석 하였고 난류 모형으로 비선형 k-${\varepsilon}$ 모형을 이용하였다. 제시된 모형을 Nezu and Onitsuka (2001)의 실험수로에 적용하여 모의된 결과를 실험 계측자료 및 Kang and Choi (2006)의 Reynolds stress model 모의결과와 비교하였다. 실험결과와 비교한 결과에 따르면, 비선형 k-${\varepsilon}$ 모형이 평균흐름의 대체적인 경향을 잘 모의하는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 식생 영역과 비식생 영역의 경계면에서 쌍와 (twin vortices)가 생성되고 난류강도와 레이놀즈 응력의 최대점이 위치하는 것을 확인하였다. 레이놀즈 응력에 대해서는 경향은 잘 모의하지만 정량적으로 과소 산정하는 것으로 나타났다. This study presents a numerical modeling of mean flow and turbulence structures of partly-vegetated open-channel flows. For this, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with vegetation drag terms are solved numerically using the non-linear k-${\varepsilon}$ model. The numerical model is applied to laboratory experiments of Nezu and Onitsuka (2001), and simulated results are compared with data from measurement and computations by Kang and Choi's (2006) Reynolds stress model. The simulation results indicate that the proposed numerical model simulates the mean flow well. Twin vortices are found to be generated at the interface between vegetated and non-vegetated zones, where turbulence intensity and Reynolds stress show their maximums. The model simulates the pattern of the Reynolds stress well but under-predicts the intensity of Reynolds stress slightly.

      • 생리활성물질을 생성하는 해양미생물의 동정 : Ⅰ. 항미생물 물질을 생산하는 해양방선균 분리균주 No.101의 분리 및 배양조건 Ⅰ. Isolation and Cultural Conditions of the Marine Actinomycetes No.101 Producing Antimicrobial compounds

        본 연구에서는 생리활성물질을 생성하는 해양미생물을 분리하기 위하여 연근해역의 해면을 조사하였다. 해면 중의 미생물은 1.2×10~2.1X10^3/g 범위에 있었고, 이들 중 방선균은 0.Ol~O.5%(data 생략)로 나타났다. 분리된 미생물은 각각 배양하여 항균물질을 검토하였으며, 검토하던 중에 비교적 강한 항균물질을 생산하는 균주 No. 101을 분리, 선발하였다. 선발된 균의 특징은 sclerotia로 형태가 다양하였고, 다양한 배지에서 생육이 가능하였고, 기균사의 색깔은 회백색, 배면의 색깔은 주로 회백색에서 갈색으로 나타났으며, 젤라틴 액화능과 전분 분해능을 가지나 myo-inositol은 이용하지 못하였다. 이 균의 배양학적 특성은 최적 pH 및 온도가 6.5~7.0 및 30℃였으며, 탄소원으로는 starch가 30g/l, 질소원으로는 casamino acid 10g/l가 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 방선균 No. 101의 균체 및 균배양액의 추출물에 대한 항균 및 항진균성에서는 Staphyloccus aureus와 Bacillus subtilis에서 강한 항균력을, 효모와 곰팡이에 대하여는 낮은 항진균성을 나타내었다. Marine organisms were investigated to identify the marine actinomycetes that produced noble bioactive compounds. Microorganism counts range from 2.1×10^3 to 1.2×10 CFU/g of marine organisms. Actinomycetes constituted 0.01 to 0.5% of culturable microbial community. We identified the marine actinomycetes that produced novel bioactive compounds. During the course of screening for bioactives from the marine microorganisms, we found that the strain in sponge had antimicrobial activities. From the morphological, cultural and various physiological characteristics, this strain was identified for Actinomycetes No. 101. The optimal compositions of culture medium for Actinomycetes No. 101 were starch 30g/l as carbon source, casamino acid l0g/l as nitrogen source. The optimal pH of medium and fermentation temperature were 6.5~7.0 and 30℃, respectively. Fermentation has been conducted in the marine broth at 30℃ for 72 hour. The yield of fermentation got about 3g as dry weight(per liter of broth). The distribution of antimicrobial activity of Actinomycetes No. 101 was screened by paper disc. The extract of cultured cell and broth inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, but the inhibition action was week against yeast and mold.

        This study was performed to investigate the biological activity-anticancer activity, thrombolytic activity, hypoglycemic activity-of Chicorium intybus and it was extracted with hot water, and then hot water extract was further fractionated into hexane and water. The anticancer effect of Chicorium intybus extracts against cancer cell line, human lung cancer(A549), human hepatocellular carcinoma(Hep3B), human normal lung cell(HEL299) was investigated. The growth of A549 inhibited over 50% all sample which concentration was 1.0g/L and Hep3B inhibited over 40% too. The thrombolytic activity enhanced more 2.33 times in hexane fraction that compared lysis zone (0.9cm) of control, plasmin 10unit. In hypoglycemic activity test, enzyme activity of α-glucosidase which mainly cause diabetes were most inhibited by hexane fraction and inhibition ratio in adding the water extracts, hexane fraction and aqueous fraction were scored 24.5%, 32.1%, 29.5%, respectively.

        1983 년경 국내에서도 과학탐사 로케트와 인공위성이 발사될 예정에 있으며 이에 따라 X-선 천체물리학을 위한 방사선 센서의 국내 개발이 시급히 요청되는 바이다. 따라서 현재 방사선계측에 많이 이용되고 있는 방사선 센서들 중 국내에서 개발되어온 MWPC위치검출기를 소개하고 인공위성 혹은 과학탐사로케트에 탑재되어 X-선 천체물리학연구에 이용될 경우 연구 개발되어 나가야 할 방향을 제시하고자 한다. Domestic sounding rocket and scientific satellite are scheduled to launch around 1993. The development of radiation sensor is required to observe X-rays coming from celestial bodies by the use of those space vehicleS. In this study we introduce the multi-wire position sensitive detector and the future works of onboard detector for X-ray astrophysics.

        In order to observe celestial X-ray sources, we are going to develop a large area proportional counter as a payload of space vehicles such as sounding rocket, balloon and scientific satellite. In this study, we reviewed the proporties of X-ray sources and cosmic background, and we studied the conceptual design for a large area proportional counter.
