        As the results of measurement of the radius of corneal curvature by keratometry for the right eye of 100 subjects, the steep meridian radius is 7.21㎜ to 8.27㎜ and flat meridian is 7.45㎜ to 8.65㎜, for the left eye the steep meridian radius is 7.30㎜ to 8.35㎜, and flat meridian is 7.45㎜ to 8.72㎜. The mean value of radius of corneal curvature is 7.8㎜ for night eye, 7.8㎜ for left eye. The results of measurement of P-value by topography, it is ranged from 0.45 to 0.91 for the night eye, 0.55 to 0.90 for the left eye, mean value is 0.756 for right eye, 0.735 for left eye respectively. That means the corneal shape is ellipses. The corneal thickness is measured 0.69㎜ 10°degree to the nasal, 0.76㎜ 20°degree to the nasal, 0.66㎜ 10°degree to the temporal, 0.72㎜ 20° degree to the temporal from the visual axis and 0.60㎜ at the central position. The horizontal size of corneal is 11.34㎜ for the night eye, 11.373㎜ for left eye. Those data can be used for contact lens design and fitting.

        We investigated the association of body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle strength to the metabolic syndrome risk factors in elderly persons. 53 elderly persons aged 65-75 years evaluated the metabolic syndrome risk factors(centeral obesity, high blood pressure, HDL-cholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperglycemia), as defined by the criteria given in the Adult Treatment Panel Ⅲ. In the relation of body composition among the metabolic syndrome risk factors, WC had a positive correlation with weight, BMI, and WHR, and DBP had a negative correlation with WHR,FBG had a positive correlation with weight, BMI, and WHR, and HDL-C had a negative correlation with weight, BMI, and WHR. In the health related physical fitness, WC had a positive correlation with UMS, LMS, and TMS, LMS, and TMS, TG had a negative correlation with VO_(2)max and HDL-C had a positive correlation with VO_(2)max, UMS, LMS, and TMS. This study suggest that the metabolic syndrome risk factors are affected by body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle strength.

        모 제약회사 근로자들의 직업성 천식 유병률과 약제 분말 노출수준

        목적: 제약회사에서 직업상 천식의 유병 규모를 파악하고 작업공정에 대한 작업환경 측정을 통해 제약회사의 약제 분말에 대한 노출수준을 평가하고자 하였다. 방법: 제약회사에서 약제 분말에 노출되는 근로자를 대상으로 천식을 선별하기 위하여 설문조사 및 진찰, 혈액검사, 폐기능 검사 그리고 피부단자시험을 실시하였고, 각 부서별 공정에 따라서 총분진과 항생제 또는 효소제 분말에 대한 작업환경 측정을 실시하였다. 직업상 천식이 의심되는 근로자에 대하여 기관지과민성에 대한 검사(메타콜린을 이용한 비특이 기관지유발시험)와 약제 분말 기관지유발시험을 실시하여 확진하였다. 결과: 설문조사 및 진찰에서 작업 관련 천식 증상이 있는 근로자는 11명(34.4%)이었고, 약제 분말을 이용한 피부단자시험에서 1+ 이상 반응을 보인 근로자 10명(31.2%)이었다. 비특이 기관지유발시험 결과 8명(25.0%)이 양성(PC20 ≤16 mg/ml)이었다. 약제 분말 기관지유발시험을 통해 직업상 천식으로 확진된 근로자는 5명(15.6%)이었다. 작업환경 측정에서 원료를 충진하거나 투입하는 작업 그리고 정립작업에서 약제 분말에 대한 노출이 많았다. 결론: 제약회사에서 직업상 천식은 주로 제조공정 중 약제 분말에 노출된 근로자에서 발생하여, 증상 및 직업성 천식의 유병률이 높았다. 따라서 원료를 충진 또는 투입하는 작업과 정립작업 등 제조과적에서 약제 분말 노출을 줄이기 위한 세심한 주의가 필요하여, 약제 분말을 취급하는 근로자에 대해서는 천식 증상 조사뿐 아니라 정기적으로 피부단자시험, 비특이 기관지유발시험 등을 실시하여야 할 것이다. Objectives: After the investigation of one worker with occupational asthma, we surveyed the preva- lence of occupational asthma and the exposure level of pharmaceutical dust of 32 workers in a pharmaceutical company. Methods: Thirty-two of the 90 employees participated in the survey which consisted of questionnaire, blood sampling, spirometry and skin prick tests with 8 common allergens as well as 9 antibiotics and 2 enzymes. Various indices of the working environment were also measured. Subjects who had a symptom suggestive of work-related asthma or positive skin prick test were further investigated by PC20 methacholine. Nine subjects who had a PC20 result of 16 mg/ml or less (n=7) or had work-related symptoms and positive skin prick test (n=2) were referred to undergo a specific bronchial provocation test to phar- maceutical dust in an academic allergic disease center. Results: Eleven of 32 workers (34.4%) had a work-related symptom suggestive of occupational asthma. Ten (31.2%) showed positive skin prick test. 8 (25.0%) had a PC20 result of 16 mg/ml or less (indicative of significant bronchial hyperresponsiveness), and 5 (15.6%) had a positive result on the specific bronchial provocation test. Exposure levels of stuffing, input of raw materials and screening process were relatively high. Conclusions: This survey showed that pharmaceutical workers have an increased risk of occupational asthma. Although pharmaceutical factories maintain a relatively good working environment, careful control of respiratory tract exposures, especially during stuffing, input or raw materials and screening process, is important to prevent occupational asthma. Pharmaceutical workers need to undergo regular skin prick and methacholine bronchial provocation tests, as well as asthmatic symptom survey, to ensure the early detection and prevention of occupational asthma.

        Cross direction register modeling and control in a multi-layer gravure printing

        For the adaptation of the roll-to-roll printing method to printed electronics, it is mandatory to increase the resolution of the register control. Therefore, it is desired to derive a mathematical model for the register and to develop a controller to reduce register error. The mathematical model of cross direction register was derived considering both a lateral motion of a moving web and a transverse position of a printing roll. The proposed mathematical model could be used to improve the performance of the cross direction (CD) register controller in a large area, roll-to-roll printing machine. The mathematical model was validated by numerical simulations and experimental verifications in various operating conditions using a multi-layer direct gravure printing machine. The results showed that the proposed model was effective in predicting the CD register in multi-layer printing.

      • Compensation of Machine Directional Register in a Multi-layer Roll-to-Roll Printed Electronics

        For the adaption of roll-to-roll printing method to the printed electronics, it is mandatory to increase the resolution of register control. A compensation method was proposed to cancel out the disturbance of the machine directional register from upstream span. The proposed compensator could be used to improve the performance of the machine directional register controller in multi-layer roll-to-roll printed electronics. The proposed compensator was experimentally verified through various operating conditions. The results show that the proposed compensator improves the control performance of machine directional register in overcoming the upstream disturbances.

        Modeling and Matching Design of a Tension Controller Using Pendulum Dancer in Roll-to-Roll Systems

        <P>Dancer systems are typical equipment for attenuation of tension disturbances. The two kinds of dancer, active dancer and passive dancer, are distinguished by an external actuator. In the active dancer, the position of the dancer roll is measured and the roll is forced by the external actuator to regulate tension disturbances. However, the passive dancer, composed of a spring, damper and roll has no external actuator. Tension disturbance generates movements of the roll of the passive dancer and the displacements regulate the tension variation. However, the hybrid dancer, which is a mixture of passive and active dancer, is applied for the roll-to-roll systems. It regulates tension disturbances indirectly in the manner of keeping a constant position for the roll by changing the velocity of the driven roller adjacent to the dancer roll. It has different characteristics from those of the passive or active dancer. In this paper, the modeling of the pendulum dancer is derived. The dynamics of the hybrid dancer, which feedbacks the position of the dancer roll, and the PI control of a driven roll are analyzed. The matching logic for tuning gains is developed and experimentally verified.</P>

        A register control is one of the most important issues in the printing process. Increasing demands for the cost reduction make the roll-to-roll (R2R) process to be adopted to the electronics production. The electronics manufacturing consists of various chemical processes, which are repetitively carried out on a same substrate. It is needed to make the web possible to be in a precise position by using tension, lateral, and register control. In this paper a compensation method of register errors due to tension disturbance which is entering into a printing section is proposed and analyzed dynamics of register errors. Roll velocity for the compensation of register error was derived from the dynamics. The performance with proposed compensator is demonstrated by simulation studies using an experimentally validated models and is evaluated comparing with the conventional PID controller.

        Lately flexible display have been focused on as the next leading product expecting a huge marketplace by display producers and at the same time the demands for reducing unit cost make the roll-to-roll process be adapted to the display production. Register control is an important aspect of a roll-to-roll flexible display but it has not been taken into account as a main subject. Also register control is used in high speed converting machine. In this paper, a compensator roll type register controller is analyzed using mathematical model of register error. A case study for reducing transient register errors is conducted. By this case study, it is supposed that register error is affected by tension disturbance and the control input reducing the transient tension disturbance makes register error decreased.
