<P>2,6-Bis((4-hexylphenyl)ethynyl)-9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene, <B>4</B>, and 9,10-bis((4-hexylphenyl)ethynyl)-2,6-bis (phenyl ethynyl)anthracene, <B>5</B>, have been synthesized to study their electronic and photophysical properties. It should be noted that the difference between these compounds is the substitution position of 1-ethynyl-4-hexylbenzene groups into an anthracene ring. In particular, substitution in the 9,10-positions of the anthracene ring enhanced J-aggregated intermolecular interactions. Since <B>5</B> has a lower bandgap energy and more compact film morphology, it exhibited higher hole mobility (∼0.27 cm2 V−1 s−1) in thin-film transistor devices.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/orlef7/2011/orlef7.2011.13.issue-8/ol200299s/production/images/medium/ol-2011-00299s_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/ol200299s'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

This paper explores, using the traditional Mincer-type earnings equation augmented by a proxy for ICT progress, whether the differing pace of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has an effect on both within- and between-group wage inequalities. We found that the pace of ICT progress caused the widening of both within- and between-group wage inequalities. An important policy implication of this finding is that as the forces of labor demand tend to increase wage inequalities among workers at least until the pace of ICT progress stabilizes, policy measures to provide more opportunities for training and job experience for workers and the extension of the social safety net for vulnerable workers are necessary.

<P>This paper proposes a localization technique for mobile robots using a wireless sensor network (WSN), based on chirp spread spectrum ranging and an inertial measurement unit (IMU). A discrete-time <I>H</I>∞ filter with input forcing function is newly derived for mobile robot localization. The position of the robot is estimated by the filter using an integration of position information collected by the WSN and absolute acceleration data obtained by the IMU. From the dynamics of the robot, the solution existence of the proposed filter is shown, and a low-complexity computational method to obtain a solution from the filter is proposed by a generalized eigenvector approach. Through simulation and experiments, we evaluate the performance of the proposed <I>H</I>∞ filter and compare it with the standard Kalman filter.</P>

<P>This paper proposes a pedestrian localization technique using a wireless sensor network. An unknown input observer (UIO)-based Kalman filter and UIO-based H∞ filter are newly derived for the pedestrian localization. The purpose of the developed filters is to ensure a decoupling of unknown acceleration inputs generated by motions of the pedestrian from the state estimation and to minimize the external disturbance effects. Through comparative simulation and experimental tests, we evaluate the performance of the developed filters.</P>
Active Localization in Distributed Networks

Location-awareness is considered a promising technology for use in constructing ubiquitous environments. And, though numerous research works have been devoted to localization problems, there have been relatively few theoretical analyses of network localizations. In this research field, recent research has contributed to finding a unique realization of a network graph G = (V, E) in a 2-dimensional space using graph rigidity theory. However, they do not focus on unlocalizable networks that can be changed to localizable networks via active localization. In this paper, we point out two fundamental problems of using unlocalizable networks in active localization and propose solutions for overcoming these problems.
A Circuit Design for Ranging Measurement Using Chirp Spread Spectrum Waveform
Hwan Hur,Hyo-Sung Ahn IEEE 2010 IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL Vol.10 No.11
<P>This paper reports an RF circuit design for indoor localization using wireless chirp spread spectrum waveform. First we address the technical problems of existing hardware systems and then point out dominant factors of the ranging circuit. It will be shown that the performance of the existing system can be significantly enhanced by blocking the effects of clock noise. A set of experimental hardware circuits is developed and tested.</P>
