Does supplementing laying hen diets with a herb mixture mitigate the negative impacts of excessive inclusion of extruded flaxseed?

        Hosseini Hossein,Esmaeili Noah,Sepehr Aref,Zare Mahyar,Rombenso Artur,Badierah Raied,Redwan Elrashdy M. 아세아·태평양축산학회 2023 Animal Bioscience Vol.36 No.4

Objective: This study investigated the effects of extruded flaxseed with and without herbs mixture on egg performance, yolk fatty acids (FAs), lipid components, blood biochemistry, serological enzymes, antioxidants, and immune system of Hy-Line W-36 hens for nine weeks. Methods: Two hundred forty laying hens were randomly distributed to eight treatments, resulting in six replicates with five hens. Graded levels of dietary extruded flaxseed (0, 90, 180, and 270 g/kg) with and without herbs mixture (24 g/kg: garlic, ginger, green tea, and turmeric 6 g/kg each) were designed as treatments. Results: The two-way analysis of variance indicated that hens fed herbs mixture had a higher value of egg production, yolk high-density lipoprotein (HDL), superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and white blood cell and lower contents of yolk cholesterol, glucose, and blood low-density lipoprotein than those fed diets without herb mixtures (p<0.05). The Flx27 (270 g/kg flaxseed) (153.5 g/kg n-3 FAs) and Flx27+H (270 g/kg flaxseed plus 24 g/kg herbs mixture) (150.5 g/kg n-3 FAs) groups were the most promising treatments in terms of yolk n-3 FAs content. In-teraction effect (herbs- flaxseed) for blood cholesterol, HDL, malondialdehyde, glutaredoxin, alanine transaminase, (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), haemoglobin and immune parameters was significant (p<0.05). The results showed layers fed herbs mixture (Flx9+H, Flx18+H, and Flx27+H) had a better value of total antibody, immunoglobulin M, immunoglobulin G, ALT, AST, and blood HDL as compared with representative flaxseed levels without herbs. Conclusion: High inclusion levels of extruded flaxseed (270 g/kg) without herbs to enrich eggs with n-3 appears to impair the antioxidant system, immunohematological parameters, and sero-logical enzymes. Interestingly, the herbs mixture supplementation corrected those effects. Therefore, feeding layers with flaxseed-rich diets (270 g/kg) and herbs mixture can be a promising strategy to enrich eggs with n-3 FAs.

      • A novel preparation of polyaniline in presence electric and magnetic fields

        Hosseini, Seyed Hossein,Gohari, S. Jamal Techno-Press 2013 Advances in materials research Vol.2 No.4

We have described primary studies on conductivity and molecular weight of polyaniline separately in the electric and magnetic fields when it is used in a field effect experimental configuration. We report further studies on doped in-situ deposited polyaniline. First we have chemically synthesized polyaniline by ammonium peroxodisulfate in acidic aques and organic solutions at different times. Then we measured mass and conductivity and obtained the best time of polymerizations. In continue, we repeated these reactions separately under different electric and magnetic fields in constant time and measured mass and conductivity. The polyaniline is characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), UV-Visible spectroscopy and electrical conductivity. High molecular weight polyanilines are synthesized under electric field, $M_w$ = 520000-680000 g/mol, with $M_w/M_n$ = 2-2.5. The UV-Visible spectra of polyanilines oxidized by ammonium peroxodisulfate and protonated with dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (PANi-DBSA), in N-methylpyrolidone (NMP), show a smeared polaron peak shifted into the visible. Electrical conductivity of polyanilines has been studied by four-probe method. The conductivity of the films of emeraldine protonated by DBSA cast from NMP are higher than 500 and 25 S/cm under 10 KV/m of potential) electric field and 0.1 T magnetic field, respectively. It shows an enhanced resistance to ageing too. By the next steps, we carried chemical polymerization at the best electric and magnetic fields at different times. Finally, resulted in finding the best time and amount of the fields. The longer polymerization time and the higher magnetic field can lead to degradation of polyaniline films and decrease conductivity and molecular mass.

Prediction of through the width delamination growth in post-buckled laminates under fatigue loading using de-cohesive law

        Hosseini-Toudeshky, Hossein,Goodarzi, M. Saeed,Mohammadi, Bijan Techno-Press 2013 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.48 No.1

Initiation and growth of delamination is a great concern of designers of composite structures. Interface elements with de-cohesive constitutive law in the content of continuum damage mechanics can be used to predict initiation and growth of delamination in single and mixed mode conditions. In this paper, an interface element based on the cohesive zone method has been developed to simulate delaminatoin growth of post-buckled laminate under fatigue loading. The model was programmed as the user element and user material by the "User Programmable Features" in ANSYS finite element software. The interface element is a three-dimensional 20 node brick with small thickness. Because of mixed-mode condition of stress field at the delamination-front of post-buckled laminates, a mixed-mode bilinear constitutive law has been used as user material in this model. The constitutive law of interface element has been verified by modelling of a single element. A composite laminate with initial delamination under quasi-static compressive Loading available from literature has been remodeled with the present approach. Moreover, it will be shown that, the closer the delamination to the free surface of laminate, the slower the delamination growth under compressive fatigue loading. The effects of laminate configuration on delamination growth are also investigated.

      • Molybdenum Disulfide Nanoflake–Zinc Oxide Nanowire Hybrid Photoinverter

        Hosseini Shokouh, Seyed Hossein,Pezeshki, Atiye,Raza, Syed Raza Ali,Choi, Kyunghee,Min, Sung-Wook,Jeon, Pyo Jin,Lee, Hee Sung,Im, Seongil American Chemical Society 2014 ACS NANO Vol.8 No.5

<P>We demonstrate a hybrid inverter-type nanodevice composed of a MoS2 nanoflake field-effect transistor (FET) and ZnO nanowire Schottky diode on one substrate, aiming at a one-dimensional (1D)–two-dimensional (2D) hybrid integrated electronic circuit with multifunctional capacities of low power consumption, high gain, and photodetection. In the present work, we used a nanotransfer printing method using polydimethylsiloxane for the fabrication of patterned bottom-gate MoS2 nanoflake FETs, so that they could be placed near the ZnO nanowire Schottky diodes that were initially fabricated. The ZnO nanowire Schottky diode and MoS2 FET worked respectively as load and driver for a logic inverter, which exhibits a high voltage gain of ∼50 at a supply voltage of 5 V and also shows a low power consumption of less than 50 nW. Moreover, our inverter effectively operates as a photoinverter, detecting visible photons, since MoS2 FETs appear very photosensitive, while the serially connected ZnO nanowire Schottky diode was blind to visible light. Our 1D–2D hybrid nanoinverter would be quite promising for both logic and photosensing applications due to its performance and simple device configuration as well.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2014/ancac3.2014.8.issue-5/nn501230v/production/images/medium/nn-2014-01230v_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn501230v'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Intrinsic kinetics of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis over an impregnated cobalt-potassium catalyst

        Hossein Atashi,Mohsen Mansouri,Seyyed Hossein Hosseini,Mohammad Khorram,Ali Akbar Mirzaei,Masoud Karimi,Ghobad Mansouri 한국화학공학회 2012 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.29 No.3

The optimal amount of 15 wt%Co/10 wt%K/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared using the impregnation technique in order to study the kinetics of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. The rate of synthesis was measured in a fixed-bed micro reactor with H2/CO feed ratio of 1-3 and space velocity in the range of 2,700-5,200 h−1 under reactor pressure of 8 bar and a temperature range of 210-240 oC. The experimental data were best fitted by a Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson (LHHW) approach rate in the form of −rCO=(k2K1PCOPH2)/(1+K1PCO). Furthermore, the data were fitted fairly well by a power law equation in the form of −rCO=kPCO 1.32PH21.42. The activation energies for LHHW approach model and power law equation were obtained as 138.5 kJ/mol and 87.39 kJ/mol, respectively.

Non-classical logic inverter coupling a ZnO nanowire-based Schottky barrier transistor and adjacent Schottky diode

Hosseini Shokouh, Seyed Hossein,Raza, Syed Raza Ali,Lee, Hee Sung,Im, Seongil The Royal Society of Chemistry 2014 Physical chemistry chemical physics Vol.16 No.31

<P>On a single ZnO nanowire (NW), we fabricated an inverter-type device comprising a Schottky diode (SD) and field-effect transistor (FET), aiming at 1-dimensional (1D) electronic circuits with low power consumption. The SD and adjacent FET worked respectively as the load and driver, so that voltage signals could be easily extracted as the output. In addition, NW FET with a transparent conducting oxide as top gate turned out to be very photosensitive, although ZnO NW SD was blind to visible light. Based on this, we could achieve an array of photo-inverter cells on one NW. Our non-classical inverter is regarded as quite practical for both logic and photo-sensing due to its performance as well as simple device configuration.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>On a single ZnO nanowire, we fabricated bifunctional non-classical inverters coupling nanowire-based Schottky barrier transistors and adjacent Schottky diodes. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4cp01266f'> </P>

      • Synthesis, chemically and electrochemically polymerization of N-substituted pyrrole containing azo chromophore and its copolymerization with pyrrole

Hosseini, Seyed Hossein Techno-Press 2012 Advances in materials research Vol.1 No.4

This article describes the synthesis of a novel N-substituted pyrrole monomer containing an azobenzene group. The 2-[N-ethyl-N-[4-[(4-nitrophenyl) azo]-phenyl] amino] ethyl-3-chloropropionate (RedII) compound was synthesized via reaction of 4-nitro-4'-[N-ethyl-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-amino] azobenzene (RedI) and 3-chloropropionic acid. RedII was reacted with the potassium salt of pyrrole then 2-[N-ethyl-N-[4-[(nitro phenyl) azo] phenyl] amino] ethyl-N-pyrrolyl propionate (Py-RedII) was prepared. Chemical polymerization of Py-RedII and copolymerization of Py-RedII with pyrrole carried out using $FeCl_3$. Poly (2-[N-ethyl-N-[4-[(nitro phenyl) azo] phenyl] amino] ethyl-N-pyrrolyl propionate) (PPy-RedII) was characterized by UV, IR, $^1HNMR$, $^{13}CNMR$ spectroscopies. Electropolymerization of Py-RedII and electroco-polymerization of Py-RedII and pyrrole were studied using conventional three electrodes system, Ag/AgCl reference electrode, platinum counter electrode and GC disk working electrode. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used for thermal and rheological studies. The TGA curve of PPy-RedII demonstrated a high thermal stability up to 200°C and its DSC thermogram showed two endothermic peaks at 88 and $122^{\circ}C$. The glass transition temperature of the polymer was found to be above the room temperature. Electrical conductivities of PPy-RedII and it's copolymer with pyrrole (PPy-RedII-co-Py) were studied by the four-probe method and produced conductivities of $7.5{\times}10^{-4}$ and $6.5{\times}10^{-3}Scm^{-1}$, respectively.

      • Synthesis of conducting and magnetic nanocomposite of cross-linked aniline sulfide resin

Hosseini, Seyed Hossein Techno-Press 2014 Advances in materials research Vol.3 No.4

Magnetic and conducting aniline sulfide resin cross-linked (ASC-Fe3O4) nanocomposite has been prepared in the presence of aniline sulfide resin (ASR), aniline, $Fe_3O_4$ coated by polyethylene glycol (PEG) and initiator. The magnetic properties of the resulting composites showed ferromagnetic behavior, such as high-saturated magnetization (Ms= 41 emu/g), and coercive force (Hc=1.5 Oe). The saturated magnetization was increased by increasing of $Fe_3O_4$ content and decreased by increasing aniline ratio. The transmission electron micrograph (TEM) and X-ray diffraction proved that nanometer-sized about 20-30 nm $Fe_3O_4$ in the composite. The average size of ASC-$Fe_3O_4$ nanocomposite with core-shell structure was about 50-60 nm, and polydisperse. This approach may also be extended to the synthesis and modification of other polymers. Electrical conductivity of aniline sulfide resin cross-linked (ASC) nanocomposite has been studied by four-point probe method and produced $3.3{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$ conductivity for it. The conductivity of the composites at room temperature depended on the $Fe_3O_4$, aniline ratio and doping degree. The thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) results showed that this resin is thermal resistance near of $500^{\circ}C$. So, It can be used for resistance thermal coating for military applications. $Fe_3O_4$-PASC nanocomposite has been flexible structure with electrical and magnetic properties.

      • Sensor placement optimization for guided wave-based structural health monitoring

        Hosseini-Toudeshky, Hossein,Amjad, Fazel Abdolrezaei Techno-Press 2021 Structural monitoring and maintenance Vol.8 No.2

Sensor placement optimization is an attempt to reduce the cost and enhance the detection performance in structural health monitoring (SHM) systems. This paper aims at studying sensor placement optimization for SHM systems. The attention is paid to lamb wave or guided wave-based SHM (GWSHM). By using detection theory and Bayes risk framework the expected cost (loss) of decision making or Bayes risk for SHM system is minimized and the optimal detector is derived. The global detection and false alarm rate are used for quantifying the detector performance. In this framework the sensor coverage, directionality and probabilities of damage occurrence are all accounted for. The effect of cross-correlation among actuator-sensor pairs is then considered by presenting an appropriate model for covariance structure. Applying the genetic algorithm, the global false alarm rate is minimized for a target global detection rate and different levels of correlation. In addition, the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) is determined to analyze the effect of correlation on the system performance and optimal arrangement. For demonstration of the effect of cross-correlation on damage detection a numerical analysis is carried out using ABAQUS standard. Finally, it is concluded that by increasing the correlation among actuator-sensor pairs, the performance of the SHM system decreases.
