Atomistic simulations of nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.5O2 solid solution under uniaxial tension
Hongxing Xiao,Xiaomin Wang,CHONGSHENG LONG,Xiaofeng Tian,Hui Wang 한국원자력학회 2017 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.49 No.8
Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to investigate the uniaxial tensile properties of nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.5O2 solid solution with the Borne-Mayere-Huggins potential. The results indicated that the elastic modulus increased linearly with the density relative to a single crystal, but decreased with increasing temperature. The simulated nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.5O2 exhibited a breakdown in the HallePetch relation with mean grain size varying from 3.0 nm to 18.0 nm. Moreover, the elastic modulus of U1-yThyO2 solid solutions with different content of thorium at 300 K was also studied and the results accorded well with the experimental data available in the literature. In addition, the fracture mode of nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.5O2 was inclined to be ductile because the fracture behavior was preceded by some moderate amount of plastic deformation, which is different from what has been seen earlier in simulations of pure UO2.
Output Feedback Control for Local Power System Stability based on Sum of Square Programming
Yong Wan,Hongxing Tian 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10
This paper studies local power system stability by proposing a sum of square (SOS)-based iterative algorithm which achieves both the Lyapunov function construction and the output feedback control design. This algorithm does not contain any linearization process and the original trigonometric nonlinearities are preserved. Further, only measurable relative speed is needed to design excitation controller. Simulation result verifies the effectiveness of the designed controller.

The solid-state core of a heat pipe cooled reactor operates at high temperatures over 1000 K withthermal and irradiation-induced expansion during burnup. The expansion changes the gap thicknessbetween the solid components and the material properties, and may even cause the gap closure, whichthen significantly influences the thermal and mechanical characteristics of the reactor core. This studydeveloped an irradiation behavior model for HPRTRAN, a heat pipe reactor system analysis code, tointroduce the irradiation effects such as swelling and creep. The megawatt heat pipe reactor MegaPowerwas chosen as an application case. The coupled irradiation-thermal-mechanical model was developed tosimulate the irradiation effects on the heat transfer and stresses of the whole reactor core. The resultsshow that the irradiation deformation effect is significant, with the irradiation-induced strains up to2.82% for fuel and 0.30% for monolith at the end of the reactor lifetime. The peak temperatures during thelifetime are 1027:3 K for the fuel and 956:2 K for monolith. The gap closure enhances the heat transferbut caused high stresses exceeding the yield strength in the monolith

Trichogramma chilonis is an important natural enemy for control of various Lepidoperan crop pests. The biology of T. chilonis is well-studied, but the molecular mechanisms of this biology require further study. Screening suitable reference genes is a vital step for use of RT-qPCR to understand underlying molecular physiology. In the present study, nine candidate reference genes including elongation factor 2 (EF2), ribosomal proteins (RPS23, RPL13, and RPL44), malate dehydrogenase (MDH), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit F (EIF3F), zinc finger protein 268 (ZFP268), muscle specific protein 20 (MP20), and ATP synthase subunit alpha (ATP5F1A) were evaluated at different conditions including development stage, diet, temperature, and insecticide treat ments. Four common algorithms (the Delta Ct method, geNorm, BestKeeper, and NormFinder) and RefFinder were used to analyze gene expression stability. Our results indicated that two reference genes used for normalization were sufficient, and the optimal combinations were: RPS23 and EF2 for developmental stages, ZFP268 and EF2 for feeding with different diets, ZFP268 and RPL13 for temperature treatments, and EF2 and RPL44 for insec ticide treatments. The results provide preliminary determination of suitable reference gene for standard RT-qPCR analyses in T. chilonis, which might establish the foundation for further molecular biology research.
