The excitation and emission spectra of photoluminescence of Lead Molybdate single crystals and its annealing effect are investigated. The photoluminescence spectra of Lead Molybdata are measured by time resolved spectroscopy using Nd-YAG pulse laser(=1.064㎛) as exciting radiation source. The near edge absorption of (100) and (001) plate are 3.28 eV and 3.21 eV respectively, and shift towards the UV region as annealing time increase. In present experiment we obtained broad band photoluminescence spectra of the crystals at 520 nm.

(CH₃NHCH₂COOH)₃??혼정(x=0, 0.05 및 0.1)의 저주파수 유전특성을 조사하였다. 순수한 (CH₃NHCH₂COOH)₃CaCl₂의 유전상수와 손실은 Tc근방에서 예리한 peak를 보인 반면 Mn을x=0.05 및 0.1 치환시킨 혼정에서는 그 anomaly가 broader하였다. 특히 Mn이 10mol% 첨가한 시료에서는 임계영역안에서 극소점이 나타났으며 이는 (CH₃NHCH₂COOH)₃CaCl₂의 상전이 기구가 임계영역내에서는 질서무질서형 거동하는 것을 뒷받침 하였다.

<P> Pure and Nb-doped Bi4Ti3O12 ceramics were prepared by using the conventional solid state reaction method. The dielectric permittivity and electrical modulus in pure and Nb-doped Bi4Ti3O12 ceramics were measured in the temperature range of 30 ∼ 700 °C and the frequency range of 1 Hz∼1 MHz through an impedance spectroscopy method. The obtained results showed well-defined relaxation peaks. The conductivity relaxation times are determined from the peaks of the modulus. The activation energies associated with hopping condition are 0.42 eV and 0.53 eV in pure and Nb-doped Bi4Ti3O12 ceramics, respectively.</P>

Infrared reflection spectra of Gd₂(MoO₄)₃single crystals are measured in the range 600-??????. The spectra are analysed with dielectric dispersion analysis and Kramers-Kronig relation. Optical phonon modes TO and LO phonon modes of B₁and B₂show very strong oscillator strengths and small damping constants, whreras A₁polar mode have shows large damping constant. The frequency inversion between TO and LO phonons are observed near the TO phonon with large oscillator strength.

Background: The therapeutic potential of Bee Venom Pharmacopuncture (BVP) on acute ischemic cerebral infraction was determined in mice in vivo and in vitro. Methods: Analysis of acute ischemic cerebral infraction was performed using 7 week old male ICR mice (n = 20) and microglial BV-2 cells. Bee venom ($5{\mu}g/kg$) was injected into the caudal vein of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo) mice (1 hour after reperfusion, 3 hours after MCAo probe insertion), and also used to treat LPS-stimulated microglial BV-2 cells (1, 2, $5{\mu}g/mL$). Markers of inflammation were monitored. Results: NO declined statistically significantly in BVP treated MCAo mice compared to the untreated MCAo group (p < 0.05). Compared to the MCAo group, the BVP-treated MCAo group showed a decreased production volume of malondialdehyde, but an increased glutathione/oxidized glutathione ratio. Compared to the untreated MCAo group, the BVP treated MCAo group showed a statistically significant decline in TNF and $IL-1{\beta}$ levels (p < 0.05). BVP inhibited the levels of p65, p50, $p-I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$, and levels of p-ERK1/2, p-JNK2, p-P38 declined. Conclusion: BVP is effective at dampening the inflammatory response in vivo and in vitro and may supplement rt-PA treatment.

Spontaneous Birefringence and Electro-Optical properties of Gd₂(MoO₄)₃single crystals were studied. Electro-Optic coefficient and its temperature dependence and Spontaneous Birefringence near the Curie temperature and measured by using the Babinet-Soleil compensator with A/D converter. The value of ??? is 4×??? m/V at room temperature and decreased to zero at phase transition one. The values of temperature and electric field dependence near the phase transition point are presented as hysterosis phenomena.
Effects of Scutellaria baicalensis Extract on Gout-Induced Rats

Background: This study aimed to investigate hyperuricemia, renal inflammation, and xanthine oxidase (XO) activity improvement in a rat model treated with Scutellaria baicalensis extract (SBE). Methods: The rats were divided into 4 groups (n = 5 each), including sham, potassium oxonate (PO) injected hyperuricemia (control group), PO + 10 mg/kg allopurinol administrated (allopurinol group), and a PO + 50 mg/kg SBE administrated (SBE group), to investigate the effectiveness and molecular mechanisms of SBE. The effects of SBE on PO-induced hyperuricemia rats, renal inflammation, and XO activity were measured. Body weight and organ index of the kidney and liver were measured in PO-induced hyperuricemia rats, and serum uric acid level was extracted from whole blood and was measured. Renal inflammation was observed under a microscope after sections. XO activity was measured by liver tissue and serum XO levels. Results: Organ indexes of the kidney and liver in rats were significantly decreased in the allopurinol group than in the control group and with no significant difference in the SBE group. A PO injection for 5 days significantly increased serum uric acid levels in the control group compared to the sham group. Meanwhile, the SBE and allopurinol groups have significantly decreased serum uric acid levels compared to the control group. The SBE group revealed effectively improved renal histopathological changes compared to the control group. The XO inhibitor, allopurinol, significantly decreased XO activity. Additionally, SBE significantly lowered XO activity in rats. Conclusion: SBE can be used as an effective treatment for gout in the future.

목적 : 최근 NF-${\kappa}B$와 STAT3의 활성억제와 관련된 항암제 연구가 주목받고 있으며, 본 연구는 사독(蛇毒)이 세포자멸사 관련 단백질의 발현 조절을 통하여 세포자멸사를 유도하고, NF-${\kappa}B$와 STAT3의 활성억제를 유도하여 난소암 PA-1 세포의 성장을 억제하는지를 확인하고, 해당 기전을 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법 : 사독을 처리한 후 난소암 PA-1 세포의 세포자멸사의 관찰에는 DAPI, TUNEL staining assay를 시행하였고, 세포자멸사 조절단백질 및 NF-${\kappa}B$, STAT3의 활성 변동 관찰에는 western blot analysis를 시행하였다. 결과 : 1. 사독을 처리한 후 난소암 PA-1 세포에서 세포자멸사가 유도되어 암세포성장이 억제되었다. 2. 사독을 처리한 후 세포자멸사 관련 단백질 중 세포자멸사 촉진 단백질인 cleaved caspase-3, Bax의 발현은 증가되었고, 세포자멸사 억제 단백질인 Bcl-2의 발현은 감소되었다. 3. 사독을 처리한 후 난소암 PA-1 세포의 NF-${\kappa}B$와 STAT3 발현은 감소되었고, 각각의 길항제인 salicylic acid와 stattic 처리 후 NF-${\kappa}B$와 STAT3 발현은 더욱 감소되었다. 결론 : 사독은 난소암 세포의 세포자멸사 유발과, NF-${\kappa}B$와 STAT3의 활성억제를 통해 치료 효율이 높고, 내성이 적은 난소암 치료제의 개발에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
