Detection of benzalkonium chloride on glass surfaces using silver nanoparticles
Nguyễn Hoàng Ly,Phuong-Dong Nguyen,Sang Jun Son,이철민,Soonmin Jang,주상우,Kyungjoo Kim,Jiseon Choi,Ye-eun Joo,Jung Il Lee 대한화학회 2022 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.43 No.2
Raman reporter-based surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has been used to investigate the detection of one member of a class of the cationic surfactant quaternary ammonium compounds, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, also known as benzalkonium chloride (BAC). For this study, SERS was performed using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Density functional theory (DFT) of BAC on Ag6 clusters was introduced to estimate binding at the level of the B3LYP/LANL2DZ basis sets. As the chain length increased from n = 8 to 18, the binding energies were expected to increase by 2.1 kcal/mol. Methylene blue (MB) Raman reporter molecules were subsequently treated on BAC thin-film-covered glass surfaces. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) images were used to determine the coverage of BAC on the glass, and field-emission electron microscope (FE-SEM) images revealed the surface morphologies of the SERS substrates. A standard calibration curve was prepared to quantify BAC within a concentration range of 0.0036805 to 36?805?ppm (r2?≥?0.99), according to the BAC-correlated SERS intensities of MB Raman peaks at ~1620?cm?1 adsorbed on AgNPs. A molecular dynamics (MD) simulation supported strong adsorption of BAC on glass surfaces.

Sweet potato symptomless virus 1 (SPSMV-1) is a single-stranded circular DNA virus, belonging to the genus Mastrevirus (family Geminiviridae) that was first identified on sweet potato plants in South Korea in 2012. Although SPSMV-1 does not induce distinct symptoms in sweet potato plants, its co-infection with different sweet potato viruses is highly prevalent, and thus threatens sweet potato production in South Ko-rea. In this study, the complete genome sequence of a Korean isolate of SPSMV-1 was obtained by Sanger sequencing of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) am-plicons from sweet potato plants collected in the field (Suwon). An infectious clone of SPSMV-1 (1.1-mer) was constructed, cloned into the plant expression vec-tor pCAMBIA1303, and agro-inoculated into Nicotiana benthamiana using three Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains (GV3101, LBA4404, and EHA105). Although no visual differences were observed between the mock and infected groups, SPSMV-1 accumulation was detected in the roots, stems, and newly produced leaves through PCR. The A. tumefaciens strain LBA4404 was the most effective at transferring the SPSMV-1 genome to N. benthamiana. We confirmed the viral replication in N. benthamiana samples through strand-specific amplifi-cation using virion-sense- and complementary-sense-specific primer sets.

Counter electrode of Cu2S on fuorine-doped tin oxide glass, which was synthesized by chemical bath deposition method in a nitrogen-purged environment with varying precursors and temperatures, is used for quantum dot sensitized solar cell fabrication. The morphology, composition and crystalline structure of the Cu2S flm were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray difraction analysis. Electrochemical properties of the Cu2S flm were measured by cyclic voltammetry measurement and the highest performance of JSC=18.2 mA/cm2 , VOC=0.57 V, FF=0.38 and η=3.94% were recorded in the cell fabricated by the mixture of CuSO4 and Na2S2O3 precursors (1.0/1.0 ratio). It is the result of the enhancement of electrocatalytic activity, charge transfer and collection, and excited electron lifetime.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A photoactive NiO electrode for p-type dye-sensitized solar cells (p-DSCs) has been equipped by the introduction of different coatings of a compact NiO blocking layer. This study examined the facile process for the fabrication of a compact NiO blocking layer by decomposing an ethanolic precursor solution of nickel acetate tetrahydrate. The P1-dye used as the photosensitizer for the NiO electrode in the p-DSCs device and their performances have been analyzed. The enhancement of both short-circuit photocurrent (Jsc) and fill factor (FF) resulted in a twofold increase in the power conversion efficiency (η). The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and open-circuit voltage decay (OCVD) measurements demonstrated that charge recombination was suppressed when a compact NiO blocking layer was applied. <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The efficiency of tandem pn-dye-sensitized solar cells (pn-DSCs) has been limited by the poor performance of the available p-DSCs. A facile approach of introducing a compact NiO blocking layer into an active NiO photocathode network of p-DSCs and pn-DSCs is presented to enrich the power conversion efficiency (PCE) using a Co2+/3+ redox mediator. Two photoelectrodes sensitized with different dyes (SQ for n-DSC and P1 for p-DSC) have a complementary nature in absorbing solar irradiation at different wavelengths. The constructed pn-DSC demonstrates an enhanced photovoltage compared to n-DSC, resulting in an overall PCE of 1.486%. This PCE is further improved to 1.913% by the addition of an optimized NiO blocking layer to the p-DSC; this was prepared <I>via</I> spin-coating with a nickel acetate precursor solution. This paper introduces a robot visual-inertial tracking algorithm for a robot manipulator intended to track an object using inertial sensors incorporated into the object. To create this algorithm, the inertial Jacobian is first newly defined in order to show the relationship between an angle set velocity vector of the object and the angular velocity vector of the robot tip. Then, the inertial Jacobian is combined with the conventional image Jacobian. Therefore, the proposed algorithm requires only two landmarks with the help of an inertial measurement unit to track a moving object with six degrees of freedom, while at least three landmarks are required in the conventional stereo visual servoing algorithm. Further, the possession of a multi-rate controller allows the integration system to out-perform conventional systems in the tracking of an object’s attitude change. A suggested application of the proposed method is tracking and selection of a container from a shipping vessel that is being affected by large waves. Simulations and experiments were conducted to verify the feasibility of the proposed methodology.
