Design and Evaluation of Contactless Inductive Energy Transfer System

This paper presents a contactless energy transfer system that can transfer energy with high efficient from primary side to secondary side with an air gap from 0 to 7mm via electromagnetic resonant coupling. A phase-locked loop is designed and a double closed-loop feedback design is adopted to track the optimum working frequency and protect the system from overcurrent. The series-parallel compensation framework is adopted to keep both side coils work in resonant condition. Simulation and experimental results are illustrated to show the effectiveness of the inductive energy transfer system.
