A wavelet neural network (WNN) based on the genetic algorithm (GA) was used in conjunction with an experimental design to optimize the enzymatic reaction conditions for the preparation of esteramines-based esterquats. A set of experiments was designed by central composite design to process modeling and statistically evaluate the findings. Five independent process variables, including enzyme amount, reaction time, reaction temperature, substrates molar ratio and agitation speed were studied under the given conditions designed by Design Expert software. All these show that the WNN has great potential ability in prediction of reaction conversion in lipase-catalyzed synthesis of products.

Zero-valent iron nanoparticles were synthesized, for removal of Direct Yellow 12 dye. The experiments were designed by response surface methodology. Quadratic model was used to predict the variables. Analysis of variance was used for investigation of variables and interaction between them. High F-value (10.01), very low P-value (<0.0001), non-significant lack of fit, the determination coefficient (R2 = 0.903) and the adequate precision (10.82) demonstrate good correlation between experimental and predicted values of the response. The highest removal percent (90.02%) was attained, and the optimum parameters are achieved: catalyst amount (0.31 w/w%), initial concentration (40 mg/l), reaction time (105.35 s) and pH (5.23).

The fabrication of industrial CO2 blended solution absorber was modeled by artificial neutral network. First the generated model had been statistically evaluated and then its ability of prediction was confirmed by validation test. The validated model was used to predict the desirable density and relative importance of the fabrication’s effective variables. In conclusion, the importance included x[H2O], 36.18%, x[gua], 25.37%, x[MDEA], 25.34% and temperature, 13.11% which showed none of them is negligible as well as the density (g cm3) was validated by further experiment that showed the actual density, 1.101, was quite close to the predicted value, 1.017.
