In the second-life EV’s batteries, the battery pack SOC adjustment process is essential both for maintenance and shipping. For this system, the conventional balancing methods are unsuitable for calibration purposes due to their non-optimized speed and lack of freedom in target SOC. This paper proposes a high-speed SOC adjustment algorithm for a bidirectional equalizer-integrated charger. The proposed algorithm can coordinate the charging/discharging process with the equalizing process at the same time. The proposed algorithm is verified by PSIM for 20 series-connected battery cells. The simulation results show a high equalization performance, and the total operating time is significantly reduced, compared to the conventional methods. Besides, the computation time of the proposed method is low, and thus, it is easy to implement for a large number of series connections just by a single embedded system-based BMS.

Purpose: This study aims to identify factors affecting the adoption of e-commerce by household businesses in Vietnam's food and beverage industry. Research design, data and methodology: The integrated TAM and TOE frameworks and ten hypotheses were developed to test the relationship between relevant factors. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect valid data from 992 respondents who run F&B household businesses in Vietnam. Results: The empirical research results confirm all proposed hypotheses that e-commerce adoption is affected by the perceived usefulness, the perceived ease of use, vendor support partners, social expectancy, competitive pressure, subjective norm, and household resources. Meanwhile, technical readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness are intermediate variables that influence the implementation of e-commerce in food and beverage distribution. Conclusions: The findings suggest effective orientations to foster the food and beverage e-trading practice for household businesses in developing countries. Accordingly, to encourage private household businesses to adopt e-commerce, it is necessary to focus on improving business resources, technology readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness through raising awareness of usefulness, benefits, perceived ease of use, and increased support of vendor partners. Future research can focus on improving the efficiency of e-commerce applications in F&B distribution for both household businesses and larger-scale enterprises.

Four Trichoderma strains (CH2, SH16, PQ34, and TN42) were isolated from soil samples collected from Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces in Vietnam. The strains exhibited high chitinolytic secretion. Strain PQ34 formed the largest zone of chitinase-mediated clearance (> 4 cm in diameter) in agar containing 1% (w/v) colloidal chitin. Analysis of the internal transcribed spacer regions of these strains indicated that they were Trichoderma asperellum. The molecular weights of the chitinases were approximately 42 kDa. Chitinase genes (chi42) of T. asperellum strains TN42, CH2, SH16, and PQ34 were 98~99% homologous to the ech42 gene of T. harzianum CB-Pin-01 (accession No. DQ166036). The deduced amino acid sequences of both T. asperellum strains SH16 and TN42 shared 100% similarity.

Novel highly active visible-light photocatalysts in the form of zinc bismuth oxide (ZnBi2O4) and graphite hybrid composites were prepared by coupling via a co-precipitation method followed by calcination at 450 oC. The asprepared ZnBi2O4-graphite hybrid composites were tested for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) solutions under visible-light irradiation. The existence of strong electronic coupling between the two components within the ZnBi2O4- graphite heterostructure suppressed the photogenerated recombination of electrons and holes to a remarkable extent. The prepared composite exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity, leading to more than 93% of RhB degradation at an initial concentration of 50mg·L1 with 1.0 g catalyst per liter in 150min. The excellent visible-light photocatalytic mineralization of ZnBi2O4-1.0graphite in comparison with pristine ZnBi2O4 could be attributed to synergetic effects, charge transfer between ZnBi2O4 and graphite, and the separation efficiency of the photogenerated electrons and holes. The photo-induced h+ and the superoxide anion were the major active species responsible for the photodegradation process. The results demonstrate the feasibility of ZnBi2O4-1.0graphite as a potential heterogeneous photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

Investment for battery energy storage systems (BESS) is rapidly growing. However, cost is still a major barrier. Since a retired battery pack from an electric vehicle can be re-utilized for BESS, second-life battery energy storage systems (SLBESS) have become a promising option. However, SL-BESS applications require more intensive care in terms of battery maintenance due to the increase in the characteristic differences of aged cells. Therefore, the SOC adjustment process is essential both for maintenance and shipping. This study proposed a coordinated operation algorithm for the calibration process with an optimal processing time. In addition, the effects of pack and cell currents on adjustment speed have been investigated. Experimental results verify the performance of the calibrator by a sequence of test scenarios. The battery cells are equalized and adjusted to the target SOC level within a 14 mV error, while the processing time is reduced by 20% when compared to the traditional method.

The methanol extract of Zanthoxylum rhetsa (MZRR) were evaluated for its ability to suppress the formation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.7 macrophages. MZRR presented an inhibition of LPS-induced production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in RAW 264.7 macrophages. Western blotting and RT-PCR analyses demonstrated that MZRR significantly inhibited the protein and mRNA expressions of iNOS and COX-2 in LPS-activated macrophages in a dose-dependent manner. LPS-induced COX-2, iNOS, and nuclear factor kappa beta (NF-kB) activity were also decreased in the presence of MZRR. The production of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), the mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-a and IL-1b, were reduced after MZRR administration in a dose dependent-manner. These results suggest that the MZRR extract involved in the inhibition of iNOS and COX-2 via the NF-kB pathway, revealing a partial molecular basis for anti-inflammatory properties of the MZRR extract.
Factors Impacting Tourism Demand: An Analysis of 10 ASEAN Countries
Lien Phuong NGUYEN,Ha Thu NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.1
This study investigates the effect of infrastructure, economic sectors and its status, foreign direct investment and private investment, as well as the role of political stability in enhancing the tourism demand in the ASEAN region. The research collected the secondary data from the World Bank database and the UNWTO website of 10 ASEAN countries over 17 years from 2000 to 2016. Applying the generalized method of moments, this research found that, “private investment”, “economic sectors”, “exchange rate and infrastructure measured by “using of the internet” can increase the tourism demand of a country in the ASEAN region. This research provided evidence indicating that the “foreign direct investment” and “inflation” are two detrimental factors for tourist attraction. The major finding confirmed the positive role of “political stability” in increasing tourist arrivals. First, attracting tourists to a country always poses many challenges to its government. It has been observed in the past decades that though there were many documents, which confirmed that industry can help in promoting tourism, very few studies investigated the role of both agriculture and manufacturing sectors in tourism promotion. Secondly, there are only a few studies which verifies the stability of the political system to the tourism demand in the ASEAN region and that this variable (political stability) has the strongest impact.
