Size-controlled Growth of Fe Nanoparticles in Gas Flow Sputtering Process
H. Sakuma,H. Aoshima,K. Ishii 한국자기학회 2006 Journal of Magnetics Vol.11 No.3
Iron (Fe) nanoparticles with diameters of 15?50 nm were obtained by the gas flow sputtering process. The particle size varied with the discharge current and Ar gas flow rate. While the particle size increased with the discharge current at an Ar flow rate of 500 sccm, the distribution of the particle diameters splits into two peaks for an Ar flow rate of 200 sccm and low discharge current. At 200 sccm, particles of about 50 nm were obtained regardless of the discharge current; in addition, smaller particles with diameters depending on the discharge current were also obtained. The changes in the particle size are discussed in terms of Fe vapor density and growth period.

Phase conjugate mirror based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is a fundamentally new and promising technology, and it is applicable to plasma diagnostics in order to improve the measurement performance. A review is presented about the applications of SBS phase conjugation to Thomson scattering diagnostics in JT-60U and ITER. Proposed applications using the phase conjugate mirror to plasma diagnostics, namely double-pass and multipass Thomson scattering methods, were described. Improvement of diagnostic laser system for Thomson scattering employing the phase conjugate mirror are also described.I

Multiferroic heterostructures of the ferromagnetic, half-metallic Heusler Fe2CrSi (FCS) and theferroelectric perovskite Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 (BSTO) have been formed by magnetron sputtering, andtheir magnetic and ferroelectric properties have been investigated. FCS/BSTO bilayer structureswere epitaxially grown on LaAlO3 substrates with epitaxial relationships of FCS (001)[110]//BSTO(001)[100]. Multiferroic properties with a remanent polarization of 10.6 µC/cm2 and a saturationmagnetization of 417 emu/cc were observed for the FCS/BSTO heterostructures at room temperature. These results suggest that the Heusler/perovskite epitaxial heterostructure is a promisingcandidate for fabricating multiferroic devices.
