Development of efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) remains a key issue for the commercialization of metal-air batteries. In this study, the novel structured Co3O4 nanoparticles-modified α-MnO2 nanorods supported on reduced graphene oxide (Co3O4-MnO2/ rGO) were synthesized with varying amounts of α-MnO2 via a facile two-step hydrothermal method. The relationship between the physical properties and the electrochemical results was investigated using X-ray diffraction spectrum, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, cyclic voltammograms, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and rotating disk electrode. The as-prepared Co3O4– MnO2 nanohybrid exhibits enhanced catalytic activity for ORR under alkaline condition compared with MnO2/rGO and Co3O4/rGO. Furthermore, it mainly favors a direct 4e-reaction pathway for ORR, which is attributed to the well-designed structure, the synergistic effect between Co3O4 and α-MnO2, and the covalent coupling between the Co3O4-MnO2 and reduced graphene oxide. The role of Co3O4 in Co3O4–MnO2 hybrid for catalyzing ORR also has been illustrated by varying the mass ratio of Co3O4 and MnO2, which reveals that the Co3O4–MnO2 with the ratio of 1:1 has better catalytic activity.

Deniable authentication (DA) is a protocol in which a receiver can generate an authenticator that is probabilistically indistinguishable from a sender. DA can be applied in many scenarios that require user privacy protection. To enhance the security of DA, in this paper, we construct a new deniable authenticated encryption (DAE) scheme that realizes deniable authentication and confidentiality in a logical single step. Compared with existing approaches, our approach provides proof of security and is efficient in terms of performance analysis. Our scheme is in an identity-based environment; thus, it avoids the public key certificate-based public key infrastructure (PKI). Moreover, we provide an example that shows that our protocol is applicable for e-voting systems.

Fluorine-doped tungsten oxide (WO3) plate-like films were synthesized by hydrothermal radiofrequency (RF) sputtered tungsten (W) thin films in HF solution. The crystal structure, composition and morphology of nitrogen fluorine (F) doped WO3 were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) techniques. The results indicate that fluorine can be doped successfully into WO3 plate-like films by hydrothermal synthesis in hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution. The F-doped WO3 samples show stronger absorption in the UVVis range and a red shift in the band gap transition. Incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE) measurements carried out on photoelectrochemical cell with F-doped WO3 plate-like films as anodes demonstrate a significant increase of photoresponse in the visible region compared with undoped WO3. The photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation for newly synthesized F-doped WO3 plate-like films was investigated by degradation of methyl orange. The photocatalytic activity of F-doped WO3 plate-like films was 3-fold enhancement compared with pure WO3 samples.
