Implementation of an Efficient Algorithm for a Single Phase Matrix Converter

Gola, Ajay Kumar,Agarwal, Vineeta The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2009 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.9 No.2

An algorithm is developed that enables a single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) to perform functions of a generalized single phase power electronics converter such as acting as a frequency changer, rectifier, inverter, and chopper. This reduces the need for new converter hardware. The algorithm is implemented first on computer simulation software Orcad Capture CIS version 9.1. Simulation results are presented for five types of converters with a control input variable that decides the 1) type of converter and 2) type of output waveform. The simulated results verify the working and operation of a generalized converter based on SPMC. Simulated results are verified with experimental results. Hardware design is obtained using readily available ICs and other components. The trigger circuit has been tested qualitatively by observing waveforms on CRO. The operation of the proposed system has been found to be satisfactory.

      • E-Procurement in the European Union

        ( Sebastian Bobowski ),( Jan Gola ) 한국EU학회 2019 Asia-Pacific Journal of EU Studies Vol.17 No.1

The aim of the paper is to study the public procurement market in the European Union (EU) in the context of procurement digitalization (e-procurement). It will also then examine the comprehensive use of electronic tools both by businesses participating in a tender procedure and public sector in charge of procedure management. The procurement digitalization is expected to make public spending more transparent, effective, optimized, evidence- and market- oriented. The new EU legislation goes beyond the use of electronic tools to simplify preaward and post-award stages of the procurement procedure, both to facilitate businesses to participate and public sector to manage the procurement. Among the key opportunities resulting from digitalization there is an improvement of access to public procurement markets for enterprises, with special regard to SMEs, increased transparency, simplification and acceleration of procedures, reduction of costs of participation in the procedure for all parties, reduction in administrative burden and red-tape, encouraging innovation. The paper addresses major aspects of transition to e-procurement in the EU, including, among others, ESPD and e-Certis, EXEP, ESPD, e-PIOR, The Classical Sector Directive 2014/24/EU, E-Invoicing Directive 2014/55/EU, as well as activities of CEN, CEF, EMSFEI, e-SENS, and IMI.

Yttrium as a New Threshold Detector for Fast Neutron Energy Spectrum (>10 MeV) Measurement

        M. Bielewicz,S. Kilim,E. Strugalska-Gola,M. Szuta,A. Wojciechowski 한국물리학회 2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.23

Results of two experiments with Yttrium 89 probe are presented. The experiment assembly (U/Pb model) was irradiated with Dubna NUCLOTRON for 1.6 and 2.52 GeV deuteron beam and we obtain Neutron Energy Spectrum inside whole 3D model by using threshold energy reaction. Normally in experiment like this one uses neutron activation detectors made from gold (^(197)Au), cobalt (^(59)Co), bismuth (^(209)Bi) etc. Detector, yttrium (^(89)Y) was proposed. Yttrium detectors give quite good results for neutron energy spectrum from 10 MeV to about 50 MeV.

Melanization plasticity of Drosophila kikkawai, Drosophila leontia and reciprocal hybrids under different temperatures

        Singh Divya,Ramniwas Seema,Tyagi Pankaj Kumar,Kumar Girish,Gola Deepak 한국응용곤충학회 2022 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.25 No.1

Drosophila (Sophophora) kikkawai, Burla, 1954 and Drosophila (Sophophora) leontia, Tsacas & David 1978 are closely related sibling species, the former being cosmopolitan and the latter is restricted to tropical localities. We investigated the influence of introgressive hybridization on phenotypic diversity of the two sibling species in the present study. How hybridization supports the relative abundance of pure species according to latitudinal cline is the aim of this study because hybrids show a tendency to acquire geographical location of their parent species in equal or greater abundance. How hybridization supports the plasticity for melanization of hybrids is not explored yet. The two species can cross and generate hybrids. For this, we crossed true breeding strains of both species to obtain the hybrids i.e. dark female (♀) of D. kikkawai (D. k) with males (♂) of D. leontia (D. l) in cross I and light ♀ of D. k with ♂ of D. l in cross II along with their reciprocal crosses. Finally, we studied the plasticity of both species and their hybrids at 6 growth temperatures (14, 17, 21, 25, 28 and 31 ◦ C). We found that there is no plasticity for melanization in true breeding darker and lighter strain of D. kikkawai as well as D. leontia whereas hybrids of both species showed high phenotypic plasticity. Significant differences in slope values across tem peratures in parental and hybrid lines suggest plastic effects. Phenotypic variation in abdominal melanization in hybrids can be interpreted as a result of gene introgression with D. kikkawai. We conclude that introgressive hybridization might be an important, although underestimated, mechanism shaping species distribution and adaptation.

Preparation by the double extraction process with preliminary neutron irradiation of yttria or calcia stabilised cubic zirconium dioxide microspheres

        Brykala, Marcin,Walczak, Rafal,Wawszczak, Danuta,Kilim, Stanislaw,Rogowski, Marcin,Strugalska-Gola, Elzbieta,Olczak, Tadeusz,Smolinski, Tomasz,Szuta, Marcin Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.1

A modern approach to nuclear energy involves reprocessing like transmutations of spent nuclear fuel products to reduce their radiotoxicity and time needed for their storage. For this purpose, they are immobilized in inert matrices made of zirconia and can be "burned" in fast neutron reactor or Accelerator Driven System. These matrices in spherical form can be obtained by sol-gel process. The paper presents a method of microspheres fabrication based on the combined Complex Sol-Gel Process and double extraction process consisting in the preparation of zirconium-ascorbate sol and simultaneous extraction of water and nitrates. The procedure allows obtaining gel microspheres with a diameter of 50 ㎛, which after heat treatment are processed into the final product. The synthesis of zirconia microspheres with Yttrium by internal gelation process is well known for over a decade now. However, the explanation and characterization of synthesis of such material by extraction of water process is rarely found. Parameters such as: pH, viscosity, shape, sphericity and crystal structure have been determined for synthesized products and semi-products. In addition, preliminary research consisting in irradiation of the obtained materials in fast and thermal neutron flux was carried out. The obtained results are presented and described in this work.
