Burden of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Asia
Fazeli, Zeinab,Pourhoseingholi, Mohamad Amin,Vahedi, Mohsen,Zali, Mohammad Reza Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the sixth most prevalent cancer worldwide, continues to have high prevalence in many countries of Asia. The main challenge is the high prevalence of chronic hepatitis and aflatoxin, for example in China. HBV vaccination should be the major preventive tactic in Asian countries. The burden of HCC is low in Iran because most cases are due to HBV and this infection was less common. Although in Iran, a mass vaccination program started in 1993, its impact on decreasing the burden of HCC due to HBV can only be expected in future decades.

Fazeli, S.,Shahmorad, S. The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2011 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.29 No.5
In this paper we present an operational method for solving linear Volterra-Fredholm integral equations (VFIE). The method is con- structed based on three matrices with simple structures which lead to a simple and high accurate algorithm. We also present an error estimation and demonstrate accuracy of the method by numerical examples.
Switching Functions Model of a Three-phase Voltage Source Converter (VSC)
Fazeli, Seyed Mahdi,Ping, Hew Wooi,Abd Rahim, Nasrudin Bin,Ooi, Boon Teck The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.2
The equivalent circuit of a three-leg, four-wire voltage source converter (VSC) is derived using switching functions. Simulations and experiments are conducted (i) to investigate the effects of the zero sequence on VSCs when a three-phase imbalance exists and (ii) to use the consistency of simulations and laboratory experiments to validate the equivalent circuit. The impact of a three-phase imbalance on the VSC has yet to be fully investigated because of the lack of an equivalent circuit to show rigorously how the zero sequence currents flow through the VSC.

The host preference in Encarsia formosawas studiedwhen parasitoid receiving signals related to either untreated and Lecanicillium longisporum-treated Trialeurodes vaporariorum. The experiments were done by the type two selection experiment. The third instar nymphs of T. vaporariorum were used as parasitoid host. Untreated hosts sprayed with Tween 80 as control and treated host infected by the three isolates of L. longisporum; LRC190, LRC216 and LRC229. Simultaneously, the healthy hosts were presented to parasitoid with the infected hosts at four time intervals: 0, 24, 48 and 72 h post-treatment. This investigation showed a highly significant preference of E. formosa towards the untreated host at 24, 48 and 72 h after fungi spraying.Whereas in 0 h after fungi treatment parasitoids could not discriminate between healthy and infected host therefore, therewas not a preference to host selection. The highest Manly's preference index (β) of parasitoid to choose healthy hosts in the simultaneous presence of infected hosts by isolates LRC190, LRC216 and LRC229 was estimated 0.88±0.02, 0.87±0.02 and 0.79±0.03, respectively at 72 h after spraying, while the lowest valuewas estimated 0.44±0.03, 0.49±0.4 and 0.52 ± 0.03, respectively, at 0 h after treatment. Overall we concluded that female parasitoid is capable recognize infected host in longer time intervals after treatment and prefers to lay on the uninfected ones. These results demonstrated the suitable adaptation of simultaneous application of E. formosa and L. longisporum for biological control of T. vaporariorum.
Homotopy analysis and Homotopy Pade methods for mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations
S. Fazeli,H. Kheiri,G. Hojjati 장전수학회 2010 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.20 No.4
In this paper, approximate analytical solution of the mixed Volterra-Fredholm inte-gral equation is obtained by the Homotopy analysis and the Homotopy Pade methods. The obtained approximation by using Homotopy method contains an auxiliary parameter which is a simple way to control and adjust the convergence region and rate of solution series. The approximation solutions by [m,m] Homotopy Pade technique is often independent of auxiliary parameter h and this technique accelerates the convergence of the related series.

In this paper, a new shape identification method in the inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP) is applied to detect the location and size of defects in a solid body. Different defects are modeled in a solid body as an elliptical geometry whose parameters are estimated with a proposed inverse algorithm. The inverse algorithm consists of direct, inverse analysis, and gradient-based optimization method. The direct analysis is used a finite-element method in an unstructured grid system to solve the direct heat conduction problem. The inverse analysis is based on recording temperatures data on surface of solid body that calculates the objective function. The employed gradient-based optimization method is constructed using the adjoint, sensitivity, and conjugate gradient method (Powell-Beal’s version) that are used to calculate the gradient of objective function, step size, and minimizing the objective function, respectively. The effects of different noisy temperature data, different cavities on some domains, and different type of defects such as poor cure, porosity, and crack are investigated in this work. The results show that this proposed inverse algorithm is more efficient in detection of defects.

Delorme’s Procedure: An Effective Treatment for a Full-Thickness Rectal Prolapse in Young Patients
Mohammad Sadegh Fazeli,Ali Reza Kazemeini,Amir Keshvari,Mohammad Reza Keramati 대한대장항문학회 2013 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.29 No.2
Purpose: Delorme’s procedure is infrequently applied in young adults because of its assumed higher recurrence rate. The aim of this prospective study was to assess the efficacy of the Delorme’s technique in younger adults. Methods: Fifty-two consecutive patients were entered in our study. We followed patients for at least 30 months. Their complaints and clinical exam results were noted. Results: Our study included 52 patients (mean age, 38.44 years; standard deviation, 13.7 years). Of the included patients, 41(78.8%) were younger than 50 years of age, and 11 (21.1%) were older than 50 years of age. No postoperative mortalities or major complications were noted. Minor complications were seen in 5 patients (9.6%) after surgery. The mean hospital stay was 2.5 days. In the younger group (age ≤50 years), fecal incontinence was improved in 92.3% (12 out of 13 with previous incontinence) of the patients, and recurrence was seen in 9.75% (4 patients). In the older group (age >50 years), fecal incontinence was improved in 20% (1 out of 5 with previous incontinence) of the patients, and recurrence was seen in 18.2% (2patients). In 50% of the patients with a previous recurrence (3 out of 6 patients) following Delorme’s procedure as a secondary procedure, recurrence was observed. Conclusion: Delorme’s procedure, especially in younger patients, is a relatively safe and effective treatment and should not be restricted to older frail patients. This procedure may not be suitable for recurrent cases.
Increased Trend of Breast Cancer Mortality in Iran
Taghavi, Afsoon,Fazeli, Zeinab,Vahedi, Mohsen,Baghestani, Ahmad Reza,Pourhoseingholi, Asma,Barzegar, Farnoosh,Pourhoseingholi, Mohamad Amin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1
Background: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide In Iran, it ranks first among cancers diagnosed in women and is the fifth most common cause of death. The aim of this study was to present the mortality trends from breast cancer for Iranian women during a period of almost a decade, in order to provide update information regarding the likely future. Methods: We analyzed National death Statistic reported by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education from 1995 to 2004 to generate annual mortality rates/100,000, overall, by age group (<15, 15-49 and ${\geq}50$ years of age) and age standardized rate (ASR). Results: The age standardized mortality rate of breast cancer increased dramatically during these years from 1.40 to 3.52 per 100,000 and its mortality was increasing 151.4% for Iranian women, although it seemed that the rate leveled off from 2002 to 2004. Moreover the increasing rate was higher for those aged between 15-49 compared to age >50 years old. Conclusion: There is an increasing trend for breast cancer mortality in Iran. Thus, health education programs to rectify the lack of women awareness about breast cancer signs and effective screening are urgently needed.
