( Fantaye Melaku Abiy ),( Kyoung Sup Jung ),( Nurilligne Geleta Tsinuel ) 충북대학교 건설기술연구소 2015 建設技術論文集 Vol.34 No.1
In this paper, finite element framework has been developed using object oriented programming technique. The Developed framework is organized in FEM libraries which can be used by software developers, academicians or other professionals in the field. The framework is fully implemented in C#, which have builtin development utilities and automatic memory management. The flexibility, extendability, portability and ease of application makes such a package reduces rigorous work in development process. First, the general structure of classes and their relationship has been discussed. Then, an implementation of the framework is developed for a test run. Finally, using the developed framework, some bench mark numerical examples have been illustrated for static and transient analysis to test the accuracy and efficiency of the developed framework.
Evaluation of Welded Joints of Vertical Stiffener to Web under Fatigue Load by Hotspot Stress Method
Abiy Fantaye Melaku,정경섭 한국강구조학회 2017 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.17 No.1
The feasibility of intermittent fillet weld at the connection of vertical web stiffener and web plate in steel box girder bridge was studied considering vehicular fatigue loading. The study was conducted using FEM models taken from real three span steel box girder bridge with three box-girders connected by reinforced concrete deck. Web-to-stiffener connections at the middle of span and near the support of the bridge were studied in detail using refined 3D linear finite element analysis. Then, using structural hot spot stress approach, fatigue load induced stress was evaluated on the welded parts, and parametric study was conducted on a range of intermittent fillet weld parameters to evaluate the maximum fatigue load induced stress. The results of the parametric study are compared with maximum fatigue stress thresholds specified in design codes to verify the applicability of the proposed detail. Finally, some conclusion and recommendations are given on the applicability of intermittent fillet weld for web-to-stiffener connections of steel box girder bridges.
POWER ASYMMETRY IN WMAP AND PLANCK TEMPERATURE SKY MAPS AS MEASURED BY A LOCAL VARIANCE ESTIMATOR
Akrami, Y.,Fantaye, Y.,Shafieloo, A.,Eriksen, H. K.,Hansen, F. K.,Banday, A. J.,Gorski, K. M. University of Chicago Press for the American Astro 2014 ASTROPHYSICAL JOURNAL LETTERS - Vol.784 No.2
We revisit the question of hemispherical power asymmetry in the WMAP and Planck temperature sky maps by measuring the local variance over the sky and on disks of various sizes. For the 2013 Planck sky map we find that none of the 1000 available isotropic Planck 'Full Focal Plane' simulations have a larger variance asymmetry than that estimated from the data, suggesting the presence of an anisotropic signature formally significant at least at the 3.3 sigma level. For the WMAP 9 year data we find that 5 out of 1000 simulations have a larger asymmetry. The preferred direction for the asymmetry from the Planck data is (l, b) = (212 degrees, -13 degrees), in good agreement with previous reports of the same hemispherical power asymmetry.

The study aimed to produce a map for livestock movement routes in Teru and Afambo district in Afar region, Ethiopia. The specific objectives of the study were identifying the major reasons of livestock movement, investigating challenges faced during the movement and producing livestock movement route maps. The primary data were mainly collected through key informant interviews, focus group discussion and Global Positioning System instrument. Stratified and purposive sampling techniques were used to select the study area and key informants respectively. Narration and ArcGIS software were used to analyze the data. The result showed that finding grazing land, market center and salty water are the three main purposes of livestock movement. The pastoralists face several challenges during their movement that affect their livestock lives and themselves. In order to reduce the effect of these challenges infrastructures should be built on the main routes of the movement based on the produced maps.
