Modeling of Electrical Transport in YBCO Single Layer Thin Films using Flux Motion Model

        Fasih Ud Din,Abdul Halim Shaari,Ahmad Kamalianfer,Manizheh Navasery,Asfand Yar,Zainal Abidin Talib,Lim Kean Pah,Chen Soo Kien 한국자기학회 2014 Journal of Magnetics Vol.19 No.2

The electrical transport properties of YBCO single layers thin film have been investigated using different physical techniques. For the purpose, the physical properties are probed numerically with help of simulation modelling. The physical transport properties were also estimated with temperature and magnetic fields limits using thermally-activated flux flow model with some modifications. The result of present simulation modelling indicated that the magnitude of activation energy depends on temperature and magnetic field. The simulations revealed thickness dependent physical transport properties including electrical and magnetic properties of deposited YBCO single layers thin films. Furthermore, it shows the temperature dependence of the pinning energy. In the nutshell, the result can be used to improve the Superconducting Properties (Tc) of the YBCO single layers thin films.

Flexural behavior of sandwich beams with novel triaxially woven fabric composite skins

        M.Y. Al-Fasih,A.B.H. Kueh,M.H.W. Ibrahim 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.34 No.2

This study aims to carry out the experimental and numerical investigation on the flexural behavior of sandwich honeycomb composite (SHC) beams reinforced with novel triaxially woven fabric composite skins. Different stacking sequences of the carbon fiber reinforcement polymer (CFRP) laminate; i.e., 0°-direction of TW (TW0), 0°-direction of UD (UD0), and 90°-direction of UD (UD90) were studied, from which the flexural behavior of SHC beam behaviors reinforced with TW0/UD0 or TW0/UD90 novel laminated skins were compared with those reinforced with UD0/90 conventional laminated skins under four-point loading. Generally, TW0/UD0 SHC beams displayed the same flexural stiffness as UD0/90 SHC beams in terms of load-deflection relationships. In contrast, TW0/UD90 SHC beams showed a 70% lower efficiency than those of UD0/90 SHC. Hence, the TW0/UD0 laminate arrangement is more effective with a mass reduction of 39% compared with UD0/90 for SHC beams, although their stiffness and shear strength are practically identical.

Tow waviness and anisotropy effects on Mode II fracture of triaxially woven composite

        M.Y. Al-Fasih,A.B.H. Kueh,S.H. Abo Sabah,M.Y. Yahya 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.26 No.2

Mode II fracture toughness, <i>K</i>IIC, of single-ply triaxially woven fabric (TWF) composite due to tow waviness and anisotropy effects were numerically and experimentally studied. The numerical wavy beam network model with anisotropic material description denoted as TWF anisotropic was first validated with experimental Mode II fracture toughness test employing the modified compact tensile shear specimen configuration. 2D planar Kagome and TWF isotropic models were additionally constructed for various relative densities, crack lengths, and cell size parameters for examining effects due to tow waviness and anisotropy. <i>K</i>IIC generally increased with relative density, the inverse of cell size, and crack length. It was found that both the waviness and anisotropy of tow inflict a drop in <i>K</i>IIC of TWF. These effects were more adverse due to the waviness of tow compared to anisotropy.

Formal and Informal Institutional Nexus with Entrepreneurial Growth: The Role of the Political Development Index

MUKHTAR, Bazla,ZUBAIR, Muhammad,FASIH, Syeda Tayyaba,HUSSAIN, Munir,BUTT, Rehan Muzamil Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.7

The study aims to examine the interaction of formal and informal institutions for strengthening economic development, particularly entrepreneurship growth. The research will also assess the impact of control variables on political index within the formal and informal markets. The research is quantitative, which analyses panel data of 6 years in 22 countries comprising middle and high-income countries with diversified and unique political, economic, and social systems. The findings suggested that reducing the entry regulation and promoting the social capital within the formal and informal institutions would grow formal and informal entrepreneurship and be a greater source for new venture creation. Moreover, the political index, a control variable, was found significant in the relationship of institutional mix with formal and informal entrepreneurship. Entry regulations in formal and informal institutions are a complex phenomenon in the entrepreneurship literature, moderated by the political development index as tested by the current study. The time horizon for this paper is much longer since it analyzes 6 years (2014-2019) of data on 22 developing and developed countries to see the entrepreneurial growth across multiple regions on different income levels, geographic conditions, and contrasting political and social systems.

      • Assessment of roof waterproofing by pre-packaged polymer modified slurry (PPPMS) and bitumen

        Iqbal, Safdar,Jehan, Beenish,Khan, Fasih Ahmed,Khan, Haris,Khan, Sarmad Ali Techno-Press 2019 Advances in environmental research Vol.8 No.1

Effective waterproofing of structures was a compulsory constraint to avoid leaks and dampness or humidity in walls, ceilings, roofs underground tank and underground room. Traditionally used methods of roof waterproofing were bitumen with tinny seared clay tiles are very troublesome, overwhelming time and involving high labor cost. These waterproofing methods are not allocation the purpose due to their intrinsic disadvantages. Prepackaged polymer modified slurries (PPPMS) are now attainment the vogue and easy to use, easily available in the market, cheaper in cost and more workable than the traditional methods of waterproofing. An experimental study has shown that prepackaged polymer modified slurries (PPPMS) are superior in cost and performance to as a roof water proof coatings. Bituminous coatings were mixed with water and different combination of prepackaged polymer modified slurries and primer respectively, to find optimum coverage underneath worst atmospheric conditions. Every specimen of different proportioned was applied on plane roofs and through the passage of time, their performance was checked, assessed and associated with each other. The roof of approximately 40000 ft2 area of prepackaged polymer modified slurries was used will give us hundred percent result (no water seepage or no water absorption) therefore no complaints as compare to roofs area of approximately 24000 ft2 bituminous coating was used for waterproofing they have shown the result of 30 to 40 percent water seepage. This result shows that prepackaged polymer modified slurries were two times cheaper than bituminous coating. Comparing an equal number of surfaces coated with a polymer modified prepackaged mortar and bitumen the prepackaged polymer modified slurries (PPPMS) showed excellent performance, ease of application and low bitumen coating cost.

Comparison of normal saline solution with low-chloride solutions in renal transplants: a meta-analysis

( Abdullah Jahangir ),( Syeda Sahra ),( Muhammad Rafay Khan Niazi ),( Fasih Sami Siddiqui ),( Muhammad Yasir Anwar ),( Ahmad Jahangir ),( Elie J. El-charabaty ) 대한신장학회 2021 Kidney Research and Clinical Practice Vol.40 No.3

Background: Normal saline solution (NSS) has been the fluid of choice for renal transplant patients, but it can lead to hyperchloremic acidosis and hyperkalemia. This study was performed to compare the safety profile of low-chloride solutions with that of NSS in renal transplant patients. Methods: We conducted a systemic review search on PubMed, Embase, and the Central Cochrane Registry. Randomized clinical tri-als (RCTs) and matched cohort studies involving NSS as the control arm and low-chloride solutions as an intervention arm were cho-sen. The standardized mean difference for continuous variables, the odds ratio (OR) for discrete variables, and a 95% confidence in-terval (CI) for effect sizes were used. A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Analysis was performed using a ran-dom-effects model irrespective of heterogeneity, which was evaluated using I2 statistics. Results: Nine RCTs and one cohort study with a total of 726 patients were included. After transplantation, serum potassium was sig-nificantly lower in the low-chloride group (standardized mean difference compared to NSS group, -0.38 mEq/L; 95% CI, -0.66 to -0.11; p = 0.007). Similarly, postoperative chloride was lower in the low-chloride group (-2.41 mEq/L [-3.34 to -1.48], p < 0.001). No statistically significance was observed in delayed graft function (OR, 0.98 [0.56-1.69], p = 0.93), day 3 creatinine (-0.14 mg/dL [-0.46 to 0.18], p = 0.38), or day 7 urine output (-0.08 L [-0.29 to 0.12], p = 0.43). onclusion: Use of NSS during renal transplant leads to increased incidence of hyperchloremic acidosis with subsequent hyperkale-mia, but clinical significance in the form of delayed graft function or postoperative creatinine remains comparable to that of low-chlo-ride solutions.

Distributed Matching Algorithms for Spectrum Access: A Comparative Study and Further Enhancements

( Bakhtiar Ali ),( Nida Zamir ),( Soon Xin Ng ),( Muhammad Fasih Uddin Butt ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.4

In this paper, we consider a spectrum access scenario which consists of two groups of users, namely Primary Users (PUs) and Secondary Users (SUs) in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks (CCRNs). SUs cooperatively relay PUs messages based on Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) cooperative techniques, in exchange for accessing some of the spectrum for their secondary communications. From the literatures, we found that the Conventional Distributed Algorithm (CDA) and Pragmatic Distributed Algorithm (PDA) aim to maximize the PU sum-rate resulting in a lower sum-rate for the SU. In this contribution, we have investigated a suit of distributed matching algorithms. More specifically, we investigated SU-based CDA (CDA-SU) and SU-based PDA (PDA-SU) that maximize the SU sum-rate. We have also proposed the All User-based PDA (PDA-ALL), for maximizing the sum-rates of both PU and SU groups. A comparative study of CDA, PDA, CDA-SU, PDA-SU and PDA-ALL is conducted, and the strength of each scheme is highlighted. Different schemes may be suitable for different applications. All schemes are investigated under the idealistic scenario involving perfect coding and perfect modulation, as well as under practical scenario involving actual coding and actual modulation. Explicitly, our practical scenario considers the adaptive coded modulation based DF schemes for transmission flexibility and efficiency. More specifically, we have considered the Self-Concatenated Convolutional Code (SECCC), which exhibits low complexity, since it invokes only a single encoder and a single decoder. Furthermore, puncturing has been employed for enhancing the bandwidth efficiency of SECCC. As another enhancement, physical layer security has been applied to our system by introducing a unique Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) based puncturing to our SECCC scheme.
