The presence of spurious spectral components in the microwave excitation may induce frequency shifts in an atomic fountain frequency standard. We discuss how such shifts behave as a function of power variations of the excitation carrier and in the spur-to-carrier ratio. The discussion here is limited to the case of single-sideband spurs, which are generally much more troublesome due to their ability to cause frequency shifts. We find an extremely rich and unintuitive behavior of these frequency shifts. We also discuss how pulsed operation, typical of today's fountain frequency standards, relates to frequency shifts caused by spurs in the microwave spectrum. The conclusion of these investigations is that it is, at best, difficult to use elevated power microwaves in fountain frequency standards to test for the presence of spurs in the microwave spectrum.

In this paper, we report the synthesis and photoluminescence (PL) properties of β'-Gd2Mo3O12 doped with Eu3+ ions. The relationship between Eu3+ luminescence versus concentration and temperature is discussed. In order to investigate the mechanism of concentration quenching, luminescence decay curves are measured and the Inokuti-Hirayama model is used to analyze them. The activation energy for the thermal quenching is estimated by the Arrhenius fitting. The emission spectrum of β'-Gd2Mo3O12 exhibits the strongest emission peak at 614.5nm due to electric-dipole transition. The excitation spectrum shows several sets of lines in the range of 350-425nm which are associated with the typical intra-configurational 4f6 transitions of Eu3+. The spectral positions of these lines match well with the emission spectra of near-UV LEDs, which makes the phosphor find a potential application for white light-emitting-diodes.

Yu, Q.,Liu, Y.,Yu, X.P.,Lim, W.M.,Yang, F.,Zhang, X.L.,Peng, Y. The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2011 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.11 No.4
In this paper, a dual-band integer-N frequency divider is proposed for 2.4/5.2 GHz multi-standard wireless local area networks. It consists of a multi-modulus imbalance phase switching prescaler and two all-stage programmable counters. It is able to provide dual-band operation with high resolution while maintaining a low power consumption. This frequency divider is integrated with a 5 GHz VCO for multi-standard applications. Measurement results show that the VCO with frequency divider can work at 5.2 GHz with a total power consumption of 22 mW.
Effects of Amino Acid Supplementation on Growth Performance for Weanling, Growing and Finishing Pigs
Li, D.F.,Guan, W.T.,Yu, H.M.,Kim, J.H.,Han, In K. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 1998 Animal Bioscience Vol.11 No.1
Four feeding trials with 260 pigs were conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementing the diet with different amino acids on growth performance and blood metabolites for weanling, growing and finishing pigs. One hundred twenty weanling pigs (Exp. 1, BW 8 kg), eighty growing pigs (Exp. 2. BW 20 kg), thirty growing pigs (Exp. 3, BW 29 kg) and thirty finishing pigs (Exp. 4, BW 50 kg) were randomly allotted to different dietary treatments according to sex and body weight. Pigs weight and feed consumption were measured at initiation and termination of each trial with 4 weeks. At the end of trial, blood samples from three pigs selected in each pen (Exp. 1) and each pig (Exp. 2) were obtained to determine the level of blood urea nitrogen, glucose, insulin and cortisol in the serum. In Exp. 1, pigs fed diet supplemented both with lysine and methionine had the best feed conversion ratio (p < 0.05), but no significant differences (p > 0.05) were observed in ADG and ADFI. Pigs receiving control diet obtained the obtained the optimal ADG (p < 0.05), ADFI (p < 0.05) and F/G for the whole period. No differences were detected in serum glucose, insulin and cortisol concentrations. In Exp. 2, pigs receiving the control diet exhibited the lowest serum urea nitrogen (p < 0.05), ADG, F/G and serum insulin concentration increased linearly (p < 0.05) with the inclusion of lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan in diets. No significant differences (p > 0.05) were detected for glucose and cortisol content in pigs serum among dietary treatments. In Exp. 3 and 4, pigs growth rate increased linearly (p < 0.01), and feed conversion efficiency was also improves by addition of lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan. In conclusion, pigs fed diets supplemented with lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan together obtained optimal growth performance in growing and finishing periods.

For the first time large HTSC (high temperature superconductive) crystals of LuBa2Cu3O6+x (up to 5´5´0.2 mm3) were obtained from the Lu2O3-BaO-CuO system by a flux growth method. The crystals obtained were characterized by differential thermal analysis (DTA), chemical and X-ray diffraction analyses. The temperature of incongruent melting of the phase was defined more exactly (950±5oC). The composition of crystals corresponds to the formula LuBa2Cu3O6+x. The crystal structure of the tetragonal form was determined and x=0 was found for this case.

<P>We have studied the impact of structural disorder on the magnetic ordering and magnetocaloric response of amorphous Gd68Ni32 and Gd53Al24Co20Zr3 microwires. We find that the presence of structural disorder significantly broadens the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic (PM-FM) transition and the temperature-dependent magnetic entropy change, while the nature of the second-order magnetic transition and long-range ferromagnetic order are not essentially affected by this effect. The large magnetic moment of Gd and the presence of the long-range ferromagnetic order are believed to result in a large magnetic entropy change, which together with the broadening of the PM-FM transition due to structural disorder contribute to a large refrigerant capacity. The excellent magnetocaloric properties of the amorphous microwires make them very promising candidates for active magnetic refrigeration. (C) 2014 AIP Publishing LLC.</P>

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P><I>Bifidobacterium animalis</I> subsp. <I>lactis</I> is a probiotic bacterium that naturally inhabits the guts of most mammals, including humans. Here we report the complete genome sequence of <I>B. animalis</I> subsp. <I>lactis</I> AD011 that was isolated from an infant fecal sample. Biological functions encoded in a single circular chromosome of 1,933,695 bp, smallest among the completely sequenced bifidobacterial genomes, are suggestive of their probiotic functions, such as utilization of bifidogenic factors and a variety of glycosidic enzymes and biosynthesis of polysaccharides.</P>

Yue, H.Y.,Huang, S.,Guo, E.J.,Wang, L.P.,Kang, F.W.,Yu, Z.M.,Guo, Y.K.,Sun, F.L. The Korean Powder Metallurgy Institute 2011 한국분말재료학회지 (KPMI) Vol.18 No.1
$TiO_2$ nanopowders with anatase structure were firstly prepared by controlling the pH value of a precursor solution without any heat-treatment at room temperature. The prepared $TiO_2$ nanopowders were hydrothermally treated in 10M NaOH solution at $170^{\circ}C$. Then, the samples were washed in DI water or 0.1M HCl. The $TiO_2$ nanotubes were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The gas sensitivity of $TiO_2$ nanotubes for toluene gas was also investigated. The results show that $TiO_2$ nanotubes can be prepared by hydrothermal treatment. The morphology of $TiO_2$ nanotubes prepared by 0.1M HCl washing is destroyed to some extent. $TiO_2$ nanotubes with DI water washing show better sensitivity than that with 0.1M HCl washing.
Effect of Feeding Enzymolytic Soybean Meal on Performance, Digestion and Immunity of Weaned Pigs
Zhou, S.F.,Sun, Z.W.,Ma, L.Z.,Yu, J.Y.,Ma, C.S.,Ru, Y.J. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2011 Animal Bioscience Vol.24 No.1
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of enzymolytic products of soybean meal (ESBM), as one of the protein sources in the diet, on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility and immune function of weaned piglets. Soybean meal produced by bioprocessing with fermentation and enzymolysis contains reduced anti-nutritional factors and improved protein utilization. A total of 240 weaned piglets (Duroc${\times}$Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire, $9.01{\pm}0.22\;kg$ body weight) were randomly allocated to 4 treatments with 6 pens per treatment and 10 piglets per pen. The diets were based on corn-soybean meal and ESBM partially replaced soybean meal and soybean protein isolate at the inclusion level of 5, 10 or 15% in the basal diet. Feed intake and body weight were measured weekly. On days 24 to 27, faeces of each replicate were proportionally collected to determine the nutrient digestibility. On day 28 of the experiment, one piglet from each replicate was slaughtered humanely to collect immune organs. The results showed that inclusion of ESBM increased (p<0.05) the final weight, daily feed intake and daily gain of weaned pigs compared with the control diet, and ESBM at the inclusion levels of 10 and 15% improved (p<0.05) the feed/gain compared with the control diet. There were no differences (p>0.05) in daily feed intake among the levels of ESBM, but increasing the levels of ESBM from 5 to 15% improved (p<0.05) the final weight, average daily gain of pigs and feed/gain. The inclusion of ESBM at 5 to 15% increased (p<0.05) the digestibility of crude protein (CP) by 5 to 16%, and ESBM at 15% increased (p<0.05) the digestibility of digestible energy (DE), Ca and P compared with the control diet. ESBM increased (p<0.05) the relative weights of thymus and mandibular lymph nodes by 57.7 and 29.6%, respectively. The percentages of T lymphocytes, CD4+ and CD8+ in peripheral blood of weaned piglets were also increased (p<0.05) by feeding ESBM. The results suggest that ESBM can be a better protein source in improving growth performance, nutrient digestibility and immune function of weaned piglets.
